Of Solomon.

Endow the king with your justice, O God,
the royal son with your righteousness.

1

Псалом Асафа. Який добрий Бог до Ізраїля, до тих, які щирі серцем!

2

May he judge your people in righteousness,
your afflicted ones with justice.

2

А в мене ледь не похитнулися ноги, мало не послизнулися мої стопи.

3

May the mountains bring prosperity to the people,
the hills the fruit of righteousness.

3

Адже я заздрив беззаконним, коли бачив мирне життя грішників,

4

May he defend the afflicted among the people
and save the children of the needy;
may he crush the oppressor.

4

бо нема вороття в їхній смерті, ні підтримки в їхньому стражданні.

5

May he endurea as long as the sun,
as long as the moon, through all generations.

Серед людей, які важко працюють, їх нема, і їх не битимуть, як простолюд.

6

May he be like rain falling on a mown field,
like showers watering the earth.

6

Тому їх опанувала гордість, вони вбрані — нарядилися в беззаконня і свою безбожність.

7

In his days may the righteous flourish
and prosperity abound till the moon is no more.

Їхнє беззаконня виступить, наче з жиру, вони попрямували за нахилами свого серця.

8

May he rule from sea to sea
and from the Riverb to the ends of the earth.

Вони подумали і заговорили лукаво, — пишномовно говорили неправду.

9

May the desert tribes bow before him
and his enemies lick the dust.

9

Проти неба підняли свої уста, а їхній язик пройшовся по землі.

10

May the kings of Tarshish and of distant shores
bring tribute to him.
May the kings of Sheba and Seba
present him gifts.

Тому й народ мій повертає сюди, і благодатні дні прийдуть до них.

May all kings bow down to him
and all nations serve him.

Вони говорили: Як дізнався Бог? Хіба є знання у Всевишнього?

12

For he will deliver the needy who cry out,
the afflicted who have no one to help.

12

Ось такі грішники й процвітають. Навіки заволоділи багатством.

13

He will take pity on the weak and the needy
and save the needy from death.

13

Тож я сказав: Невже даремно я заховував у праведності своє серце і вмивав у невинності руки свої,

14

He will rescue them from oppression and violence,
for precious is their blood in his sight.

14

і зазнавав побоїв увесь день і особистих докорів вранці?

15

Long may he live!
May gold from Sheba be given him.
May people ever pray for him
and bless him all day long.

Якби я казав: Говоритиму так само, — ось був би я віроломним перед родом Твоїх синів.

16

May grain abound throughout the land;
on the tops of the hills may it sway.
May the crops flourish like Lebanon
and thrivec like the grass of the field.

16

Я розмірковував, як би зрозуміти це, — та воно виявилося важким для мене,

17

May his name endure forever;
may it continue as long as the sun.
Then all nations will be blessed through him,d
and they will call him blessed.

аж поки я не ввійшов у Божу святиню і не усвідомив, яким буде їхній кінець.

18

Praise be to the Lord God, the God of Israel,
who alone does marvelous deeds.

Однак, Ти за підступність віддав їм [злом], і скинув їх, коли вони піднеслися.

19

Praise be to his glorious name forever;
may the whole earth be filled with his glory.
Amen and Amen.

Як раптово прийшло на них спустошення! Зникли, загинули через своє беззаконня.

20

Як сон зникає після пробудження, так Ти, Господи, матимеш за ніщо і їхній образ у Своєму місті.
