Darby Bible Translation

  • Psalm 82
    A psalm of Asaph.

    God presides in the great assembly;
    he renders judgment among the “gods”:
  • God Presides in the Great Assembly

    {A Psalm of Asaph.} God standeth in the assembly of God, he judgeth among the gods.
  • “How long will youa defend the unjust
    and show partiality to the wicked?b
  • How long will ye judge unrighteously, and accept the person of the wicked? Selah.
  • Defend the weak and the fatherless;
    uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.
  • Judge the poor and the fatherless, do justice to the afflicted and the destitute;
  • Rescue the weak and the needy;
    deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
  • Rescue the poor and needy, deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.
  • “The ‘gods’ know nothing, they understand nothing.
    They walk about in darkness;
    all the foundations of the earth are shaken.
  • They know not, neither do they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are moved.
  • “I said, ‘You are “gods”;
    you are all sons of the Most High.’
  • I have said, Ye are gods, and all of you are children of the Most High;
  • But you will die like mere mortals;
    you will fall like every other ruler.”
  • But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.
  • Rise up, O God, judge the earth,
    for all the nations are your inheritance.
  • Arise, O God, judge the earth; for *thou* shalt inherit all the nations.
