  • Psalm 85a

    For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm.

    You, Lord, showed favor to your land;
    you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
  • You Have Been Favorable to Your Land

    {To the chief Musician. Of the sons of Korah. A Psalm.} Thou hast been favourable, Jehovah, unto thy land; thou hast turned the captivity of Jacob:
  • You forgave the iniquity of your people
    and covered all their sins.b
  • Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people; thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.
  • You set aside all your wrath
    and turned from your fierce anger.
  • Thou hast withdrawn all thy wrath; thou hast turned from the fierceness of thine anger.
  • Restore us again, God our Savior,
    and put away your displeasure toward us.
  • Bring us back, O God of our salvation, and cause thine indignation toward us to cease.
  • Will you be angry with us forever?
    Will you prolong your anger through all generations?
  • Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger from generation to generation?
  • Will you not revive us again,
    that your people may rejoice in you?
  • Wilt thou not revive us again, that thy people may rejoice in thee?
  • Show us your unfailing love, Lord,
    and grant us your salvation.
  • Shew us thy loving-kindness, O Jehovah, and grant us thy salvation.
  • I will listen to what God the Lord says;
    he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants —
    but let them not turn to folly.
  • I will hear what God, Jehovah, will speak; for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his godly ones: but let them not turn again to folly.
  • Surely his salvation is near those who fear him,
    that his glory may dwell in our land.
  • Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.
  • Love and faithfulness meet together;
    righteousness and peace kiss each other.
  • Loving-kindness and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other:
  • Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,
    and righteousness looks down from heaven.
  • Truth shall spring out of the earth, and righteousness shall look down from the heavens.
  • The Lord will indeed give what is good,
    and our land will yield its harvest.
  • Jehovah also will give what is good, and our land shall yield its increase.
  • Righteousness goes before him
    and prepares the way for his steps.
  • Righteousness shall go before him, and shall set his footsteps on the way.
