Darby Bible Translation

  • How beautiful your sandaled feet,
    O prince’s daughter!
    Your graceful legs are like jewels,
    the work of an artist’s hands.
  • Admiration by the Bridegroom

    How beautiful are thy footsteps in sandals, O prince's daughter! The roundings of thy thighs are like jewels, The work of the hands of an artist.
  • Your navel is a rounded goblet
    that never lacks blended wine.
    Your waist is a mound of wheat
    encircled by lilies.
  • Thy navel is a round goblet, [which] wanteth not mixed wine; Thy belly a heap of wheat, set about with lilies;
  • Your breasts are like two fawns,
    like twin fawns of a gazelle.
  • Thy two breasts are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle;
  • Your neck is like an ivory tower.
    Your eyes are the pools of Heshbon
    by the gate of Bath Rabbim.
    Your nose is like the tower of Lebanon
    looking toward Damascus.
  • Thy neck is as a tower of ivory; Thine eyes, [like] the pools in Heshbon, By the gate of Bath-rabbim; Thy nose like the tower of Lebanon, Which looketh toward Damascus;
  • Your head crowns you like Mount Carmel.
    Your hair is like royal tapestry;
    the king is held captive by its tresses.
  • Thy head upon thee is like Carmel, And the locks of thy head like purple; The king is fettered by [thy] ringlets!
  • How beautiful you are and how pleasing,
    my love, with your delights!
  • How fair and how pleasant art thou, [my] love, in delights!
  • Your stature is like that of the palm,
    and your breasts like clusters of fruit.
  • This thy stature is like to a palm-tree, And thy breasts to grape clusters.
  • I said, “I will climb the palm tree;
    I will take hold of its fruit.”
    May your breasts be like clusters of grapes on the vine,
    the fragrance of your breath like apples,
  • I said, I will go up to the palm-tree, I will take hold of the boughs thereof; And thy breasts shall indeed be like clusters of the vine, And the fragrance of thy nose like apples,
  • and your mouth like the best wine.
    She

    May the wine go straight to my beloved,
    flowing gently over lips and teeth.a
  • And the roof of thy mouth like the best wine, ... That goeth down smoothly for my beloved, And stealeth over the lips of them that are asleep.
  • I belong to my beloved,
    and his desire is for me.
  • The Bride Promises Her Love

    I am my beloved's, And his desire is toward me.
  • Come, my beloved, let us go to the countryside,
    let us spend the night in the villages.b
  • -- Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the fields; Let us lodge in the villages.
  • Let us go early to the vineyards
    to see if the vines have budded,
    if their blossoms have opened,
    and if the pomegranates are in bloom —
    there I will give you my love.
  • We will go up early to the vineyards, We will see if the vine hath budded, [If] the blossom is opening, And the pomegranates are in bloom: There will I give thee my loves.
  • The mandrakes send out their fragrance,
    and at our door is every delicacy,
    both new and old,
    that I have stored up for you, my beloved.
  • The mandrakes yield fragrance; And at our gates are all choice fruits, new and old: I have laid them up for thee, my beloved.
