New International Version

New King James Version

  • The Mountain of the Lord

    This is what Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem:
  • The Future House of God

    The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
  • In the last days
    the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established
    as the highest of the mountains;
    it will be exalted above the hills,
    and all nations will stream to it.
  • Now it shall come to pass in the latter days
    That the mountain of the Lord’s house
    Shall be established on the top of the mountains,
    And shall be exalted above the hills;
    And all nations shall flow to it.
  • Many peoples will come and say,
    “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
    to the temple of the God of Jacob.
    He will teach us his ways,
    so that we may walk in his paths.”
    The law will go out from Zion,
    the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
  • Many people shall come and say,
    “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
    To the house of the God of Jacob;
    He will teach us His ways,
    And we shall walk in His paths.”
    For out of Zion shall go forth the law,
    And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
  • He will judge between the nations
    and will settle disputes for many peoples.
    They will beat their swords into plowshares
    and their spears into pruning hooks.
    Nation will not take up sword against nation,
    nor will they train for war anymore.
  • He shall judge between the nations,
    And rebuke many people;
    They shall beat their swords into plowshares,
    And their spears into pruning [a]hooks;
    Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
    Neither shall they learn war anymore.
  • Come, descendants of Jacob,
    let us walk in the light of the Lord.
  • The Day of the Lord

    O house of Jacob, come and let us walk
    In the light of the Lord.
  • The Day of the Lord

    You, Lord, have abandoned your people,
    the descendants of Jacob.
    They are full of superstitions from the East;
    they practice divination like the Philistines
    and embrace pagan customs.
  • For You have forsaken Your people, the house of Jacob,
    Because they are filled with eastern ways;
    They are soothsayers like the Philistines,
    And they [b]are pleased with the children of foreigners.
  • Their land is full of silver and gold;
    there is no end to their treasures.
    Their land is full of horses;
    there is no end to their chariots.
  • Their land is also full of silver and gold,
    And there is no end to their treasures;
    Their land is also full of horses,
    And there is no end to their chariots.
  • Their land is full of idols;
    they bow down to the work of their hands,
    to what their fingers have made.
  • Their land is also full of idols;
    They worship the work of their own hands,
    That which their own fingers have made.
  • So people will be brought low
    and everyone humbled —
    do not forgive them.a
  • People bow down,
    And each man humbles himself;
    Therefore do not forgive them.
  • Go into the rocks, hide in the ground
    from the fearful presence of the Lord
    and the splendor of his majesty!
  • Enter into the rock, and hide in the dust,
    From the terror of the Lord
    And the glory of His majesty.
  • The eyes of the arrogant will be humbled
    and human pride brought low;
    the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.
  • The [c]lofty looks of man shall be humbled,
    The haughtiness of men shall be bowed down,
    And the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.
  • The Lord Almighty has a day in store
    for all the proud and lofty,
    for all that is exalted
    (and they will be humbled),
  • For the day of the Lord of hosts
    Shall come upon everything proud and lofty,
    Upon everything lifted up —
    And it shall be brought low —
  • for all the cedars of Lebanon, tall and lofty,
    and all the oaks of Bashan,
  • Upon all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up,
    And upon all the oaks of Bashan;
  • for all the towering mountains
    and all the high hills,
  • Upon all the high mountains,
    And upon all the hills that are lifted up;
  • for every lofty tower
    and every fortified wall,
  • Upon every high tower,
    And upon every fortified wall;
  • for every trading shipb
    and every stately vessel.
  • Upon all the ships of Tarshish,
    And upon all the beautiful sloops.
  • The arrogance of man will be brought low
    and human pride humbled;
    the Lord alone will be exalted in that day,
  • The [d]loftiness of man shall be bowed down,
    And the haughtiness of men shall be brought low;
    The Lord alone will be exalted in that day,
  • and the idols will totally disappear.
  • But the idols [e]He shall utterly abolish.
  • People will flee to caves in the rocks
    and to holes in the ground
    from the fearful presence of the Lord
    and the splendor of his majesty,
    when he rises to shake the earth.
  • They shall go into the holes of the rocks,
    And into the caves of the [f]earth,
    From the terror of the Lord
    And the glory of His majesty,
    When He arises to shake the earth mightily.
  • In that day people will throw away
    to the moles and bats
    their idols of silver and idols of gold,
    which they made to worship.
  • In that day a man will cast away his idols of silver
    And his idols of gold,
    Which they made, each for himself to worship,
    To the moles and bats,
  • They will flee to caverns in the rocks
    and to the overhanging crags
    from the fearful presence of the Lord
    and the splendor of his majesty,
    when he rises to shake the earth.
  • To go into the clefts of the rocks,
    And into the crags of the rugged rocks,
    From the terror of the Lord
    And the glory of His majesty,
    When He arises to shake the earth mightily.
  • Stop trusting in mere humans,
    who have but a breath in their nostrils.
    Why hold them in esteem?
  • Sever[g] yourselves from such a man,
    Whose breath is in his nostrils;
    For [h]of what account is he?
