King James Bible

  • Judgment Against the Nations

    Come near, you nations, and listen;
    pay attention, you peoples!
    Let the earth hear, and all that is in it,
    the world, and all that comes out of it!
  • God's Judgments on the Nations

    Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it.
  • The Lord is angry with all nations;
    his wrath is on all their armies.
    He will totally destroya them,
    he will give them over to slaughter.
  • For the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.
  • Their slain will be thrown out,
    their dead bodies will stink;
    the mountains will be soaked with their blood.
  • Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
  • All the stars in the sky will be dissolved
    and the heavens rolled up like a scroll;
    all the starry host will fall
    like withered leaves from the vine,
    like shriveled figs from the fig tree.
  • And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.
  • My sword has drunk its fill in the heavens;
    see, it descends in judgment on Edom,
    the people I have totally destroyed.
  • For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.
  • The sword of the Lord is bathed in blood,
    it is covered with fat —
    the blood of lambs and goats,
    fat from the kidneys of rams.
    For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah
    and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
  • The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea.
  • And the wild oxen will fall with them,
    the bull calves and the great bulls.
    Their land will be drenched with blood,
    and the dust will be soaked with fat.
  • And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.
  • For the Lord has a day of vengeance,
    a year of retribution, to uphold Zion’s cause.
  • For it is the day of the LORD'S vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.
  • Edom’s streams will be turned into pitch,
    her dust into burning sulfur;
    her land will become blazing pitch!
  • And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.
  • It will not be quenched night or day;
    its smoke will rise forever.
    From generation to generation it will lie desolate;
    no one will ever pass through it again.
  • It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.
  • The desert owlb and screech owlc will possess it;
    the great owld and the raven will nest there.
    God will stretch out over Edom
    the measuring line of chaos
    and the plumb line of desolation.
  • But the cormorant and the bittern shall possess it; the owl also and the raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the stones of emptiness.
  • Her nobles will have nothing there to be called a kingdom,
    all her princes will vanish away.
  • They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there, and all her princes shall be nothing.
  • Thorns will overrun her citadels,
    nettles and brambles her strongholds.
    She will become a haunt for jackals,
    a home for owls.
  • And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be an habitation of dragons, and a court for owls.
  • Desert creatures will meet with hyenas,
    and wild goats will bleat to each other;
    there the night creatures will also lie down
    and find for themselves places of rest.
  • The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest.
  • The owl will nest there and lay eggs,
    she will hatch them, and care for her young
    under the shadow of her wings;
    there also the falcons will gather,
    each with its mate.
  • There shall the great owl make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow: there shall the vultures also be gathered, every one with her mate.
  • Look in the scroll of the Lord and read:
    None of these will be missing,
    not one will lack her mate.
    For it is his mouth that has given the order,
    and his Spirit will gather them together.
  • Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.
  • He allots their portions;
    his hand distributes them by measure.
    They will possess it forever
    and dwell there from generation to generation.
  • And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever, from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.
