Darby Bible Translation

  • Judgment Against Israel

    “Hear this, you priests!
    Pay attention, you Israelites!
    Listen, royal house!
    This judgment is against you:
    You have been a snare at Mizpah,
    a net spread out on Tabor.
  • God's Judgment on Israel and Judah

    Hear this, ye priests; and hearken, ye house of Israel; and give ear, O house of the king: for this judgment is for you; for ye have been a snare at Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.
  • The rebels are knee-deep in slaughter.
    I will discipline all of them.
  • And they have plunged themselves in the corruption of apostasy, but I will be a chastiser of them all.
  • I know all about Ephraim;
    Israel is not hidden from me.
    Ephraim, you have now turned to prostitution;
    Israel is corrupt.
  • I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me; for now, Ephraim, thou hast committed whoredom; Israel is defiled.
  • “Their deeds do not permit them
    to return to their God.
    A spirit of prostitution is in their heart;
    they do not acknowledge the Lord.
  • Their doings do not allow them to return unto their God; for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they know not Jehovah.
  • Israel’s arrogance testifies against them;
    the Israelites, even Ephraim, stumble in their sin;
    Judah also stumbles with them.
  • And Israel's pride doth testify to his face; and Israel and Ephraim shall fall by their iniquity: Judah also shall fall with them.
  • When they go with their flocks and herds
    to seek the Lord,
    they will not find him;
    he has withdrawn himself from them.
  • They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek Jehovah; but they shall not find [him]: he hath withdrawn himself from them.
  • They are unfaithful to the Lord;
    they give birth to illegitimate children.
    When they celebrate their New Moon feasts,
    he will devoura their fields.
  • They have dealt treacherously against Jehovah; for they have begotten strange children: now shall the new moon devour them, with their allotted possessions.
  • “Sound the trumpet in Gibeah,
    the horn in Ramah.
    Raise the battle cry in Beth Avenb;
    lead on, Benjamin.
  • Blow the horn in Gibeah, the trumpet in Ramah; cry aloud [at] Beth-aven: behind thee, O Benjamin!
  • Ephraim will be laid waste
    on the day of reckoning.
    Among the tribes of Israel
    I proclaim what is certain.
  • Ephraim shall be a desolation in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which is sure.
  • Judah’s leaders are like those
    who move boundary stones.
    I will pour out my wrath on them
    like a flood of water.
  • The princes of Judah are become like them that remove the landmark: I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.
  • Ephraim is oppressed,
    trampled in judgment,
    intent on pursuing idols.c
  • Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment, because in selfwill he walked after the commandment [of man].
  • I am like a moth to Ephraim,
    like rot to the people of Judah.
  • And I will be unto Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness.
  • “When Ephraim saw his sickness,
    and Judah his sores,
    then Ephraim turned to Assyria,
    and sent to the great king for help.
    But he is not able to cure you,
    not able to heal your sores.
  • When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his sore, then went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb; but he was unable to heal you, nor hath he removed your sore.
  • For I will be like a lion to Ephraim,
    like a great lion to Judah.
    I will tear them to pieces and go away;
    I will carry them off, with no one to rescue them.
  • For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah. I, I will tear and go away; I will carry off, and there shall be none to deliver.
  • Then I will return to my lair
    until they have borne their guilt
    and seek my face —
    in their misery
    they will earnestly seek me.”
  • I will go away, I will return to my place, till they acknowledge their trespass, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.
