Judgment Against Israel

“Hear this, you priests!
Pay attention, you Israelites!
Listen, royal house!
This judgment is against you:
You have been a snare at Mizpah,
a net spread out on Tabor.

Слухайте це, о священики! Вважай, доме Ізраїля! Прихили вухо, доме царський, бо вам суд належить! Бо ви були пасткою у Міцпі і сіткою розіп'ятою на Таворі.

The rebels are knee-deep in slaughter.
I will discipline all of them.

Відступники погрузли глибоко у вбивствах, та я провчу їх усіх.

I know all about Ephraim;
Israel is not hidden from me.
Ephraim, you have now turned to prostitution;
Israel is corrupt.

Знаю я Ефраїма, та й Ізраїль не схований від мене. Тепер бо ти, Ефраїме, блудуєш, — сплюгавлений Ізраїль.

“Their deeds do not permit them
to return to their God.
A spirit of prostitution is in their heart;
they do not acknowledge the Lord.

Учинки їх не дозволяють їм повернутися до свого Бога, бо дух блудництва в них усередині, і вони Господа не знають.

Israel’s arrogance testifies against them;
the Israelites, even Ephraim, stumble in their sin;
Judah also stumbles with them.

Але Ізраїля гординя буде свідчити проти нього. Ізраїль та Ефраїм спотикнуться об свою провину, і Юда теж спотикнеться з ними.

When they go with their flocks and herds
to seek the Lord,
they will not find him;
he has withdrawn himself from them.

Вони йдуть з вівцями своїми та волами Господа шукати, але вони його не знайдуть: він від них ухилився!

They are unfaithful to the Lord;
they give birth to illegitimate children.
When they celebrate their New Moon feasts,
he will devoura their fields.

Вони зламали віру Господеві, бо чужих дітей сплодили: тепер же новий місяць пожере їх і поля їхні.

“Sound the trumpet in Gibeah,
the horn in Ramah.
Raise the battle cry in Beth Avenb;
lead on, Benjamin.

Трубіть у ріг у Гівеа, у сурму в Рамі; вдарте на сполох у Бет-Авені — позаду тебе, Веніямине!

Ephraim will be laid waste
on the day of reckoning.
Among the tribes of Israel
I proclaim what is certain.

Ефраїм стане пусткою в день кари; я сповіщаю над колінами Ізраїля річ певну.

Judah’s leaders are like those
who move boundary stones.
I will pour out my wrath on them
like a flood of water.

Князі юдейські скидаються на тих, які пересувають межі. Я виллю на них, немов воду, гнів мій.

Ephraim is oppressed,
trampled in judgment,
intent on pursuing idols.c

Пригноблений Ефраїм, судом побитий, бо уподобав собі за марнотами ходити.

I am like a moth to Ephraim,
like rot to the people of Judah.

Тому буду для Ефраїма міллю і порохном для дому Юди.

“When Ephraim saw his sickness,
and Judah his sores,
then Ephraim turned to Assyria,
and sent to the great king for help.
But he is not able to cure you,
not able to heal your sores.

Коли ж Ефраїм побачив свою неміч і Юда — свою рану, пішов Ефраїм до Ашшура, а Юда до великого царя звернувся; та він вас вилікувати не здолає, ні вигоїти рану вашу.

14

For I will be like a lion to Ephraim,
like a great lion to Judah.
I will tear them to pieces and go away;
I will carry them off, with no one to rescue them.

Бо я буду, мов лев, для Ефраїма, немов левеня — для дому Юди. Я, я розірву й геть піду; я вхоплю, і ніхто не буде рятувати.

15

Then I will return to my lair
until they have borne their guilt
and seek my face —
in their misery
they will earnestly seek me.”

Піду, повернусь на моє місце, аж доки ті не визнають вини своєї і не стануть обличчя мого шукати. У своїй біді шукатимуть мене ретельно.
