  • The Ordination of Aaron and His Sons

    The Lord said to Moses,
  • Moses Consecrates Aaron and his Sons

    And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
  • “Bring Aaron and his sons, their garments, the anointing oil, the bull for the sin offering,a the two rams and the basket containing bread made without yeast,
  • Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments and the anointing oil, and the bullock of the sin-offering, and the two rams, and the basket of unleavened [bread];
  • and gather the entire assembly at the entrance to the tent of meeting.”
  • and gather all the assembly together at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
  • Moses did as the Lord commanded him, and the assembly gathered at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
  • And Moses did as Jehovah had commanded him; and the assembly was collected at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
  • Moses said to the assembly, “This is what the Lord has commanded to be done.”
  • And Moses said to the assembly, This is the thing which Jehovah has commanded to be done.
  • Then Moses brought Aaron and his sons forward and washed them with water.
  • And Moses brought Aaron near, and his sons, and bathed them with water.
  • He put the tunic on Aaron, tied the sash around him, clothed him with the robe and put the ephod on him. He also fastened the ephod with a decorative waistband, which he tied around him.
  • And he put upon him the vest and girded him with the girdle, and clothed him with the cloak, and put the ephod on him, and he girded him with the girdle of the ephod, and fastened the ephod on him.
  • He placed the breastpiece on him and put the Urim and Thummim in the breastpiece.
  • And he put the breastplate on it, and put on the breastplate the Urim and the Thummim;
  • Then he placed the turban on Aaron’s head and set the gold plate, the sacred emblem, on the front of it, as the Lord commanded Moses.
  • and he put the turban upon his head; and upon the turban, on the front of it, he put the golden plate, the holy diadem; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
  • Then Moses took the anointing oil and anointed the tabernacle and everything in it, and so consecrated them.
  • And Moses took the anointing oil, and anointed the tabernacle and all that was in it, and hallowed them.
  • He sprinkled some of the oil on the altar seven times, anointing the altar and all its utensils and the basin with its stand, to consecrate them.
  • And he sprinkled thereof on the altar seven times, and anointed the altar and all its utensils, and the laver and its stand, to hallow them.
  • He poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head and anointed him to consecrate him.
  • And he poured of the anointing oil on Aaron's head, and anointed him, to hallow him.
  • Then he brought Aaron’s sons forward, put tunics on them, tied sashes around them and fastened caps on them, as the Lord commanded Moses.
  • And Moses brought Aaron's sons near and clothed them with the vests, and girded them with the girdles, and bound the high caps on them, as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
  • He then presented the bull for the sin offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head.
  • The Priests' Sin Offering

    And he brought near the bullock for the sin-offering; and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the bullock for the sin-offering;
  • Moses slaughtered the bull and took some of the blood, and with his finger he put it on all the horns of the altar to purify the altar. He poured out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar. So he consecrated it to make atonement for it.
  • and he slaughtered [it], and Moses took the blood, and put [it] on the horns of the altar round about with his finger, and cleansed the altar from sin, and the blood he poured at the bottom of the altar, and hallowed it, making atonement for it.
  • Moses also took all the fat around the internal organs, the long lobe of the liver, and both kidneys and their fat, and burned it on the altar.
  • And he took all the fat that was on the inwards, and the net of the liver, and the two kidneys, and their fat, and Moses burned [them] on the altar.
  • But the bull with its hide and its flesh and its intestines he burned up outside the camp, as the Lord commanded Moses.
  • And the bullock, and its skin, and its flesh, and its dung he burned with fire outside the camp, as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
  • He then presented the ram for the burnt offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head.
  • The Priests' Burnt Offering

    And he presented the ram of the burnt-offering; and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram;
  • Then Moses slaughtered the ram and splashed the blood against the sides of the altar.
  • and he slaughtered [it]; and Moses sprinkled the blood on the altar round about.
  • He cut the ram into pieces and burned the head, the pieces and the fat.
  • And the ram he cut up into its pieces; and Moses burned the head, and the pieces, and the fat;
  • He washed the internal organs and the legs with water and burned the whole ram on the altar. It was a burnt offering, a pleasing aroma, a food offering presented to the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.
  • and the inwards and the legs he washed in water; and Moses burned the whole ram on the altar: it was a burnt-offering for a sweet odour, it was an offering by fire to Jehovah; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
  • He then presented the other ram, the ram for the ordination, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head.
  • The Ram of Consecration

    And he presented the second ram, the ram of consecration; and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram;
  • Moses slaughtered the ram and took some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron’s right ear, on the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot.
  • and one slaughtered [it]; and Moses took of its blood, and put [it] on the tip of Aaron's right ear, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the great toe of his right foot;
  • Moses also brought Aaron’s sons forward and put some of the blood on the lobes of their right ears, on the thumbs of their right hands and on the big toes of their right feet. Then he splashed blood against the sides of the altar.
  • and he brought Aaron's sons near, and Moses put of the blood on the tip of their right ear, and on the thumb of their right hand, and on the great toe of their right foot; and Moses sprinkled the blood upon the altar round about.
  • After that, he took the fat, the fat tail, all the fat around the internal organs, the long lobe of the liver, both kidneys and their fat and the right thigh.
  • And he took the fat, and the fat tail, and all the fat that was on the inwards, and the net of the liver, and the two kidneys and their fat, and the right shoulder;
  • And from the basket of bread made without yeast, which was before the Lord, he took one thick loaf, one thick loaf with olive oil mixed in, and one thin loaf, and he put these on the fat portions and on the right thigh.
  • and out of the basket of unleavened bread that was before Jehovah he took one unleavened cake, and a cake of oiled bread, and one wafer, and put them on the fat and upon the right shoulder;
  • He put all these in the hands of Aaron and his sons, and they waved them before the Lord as a wave offering.
  • and he gave all into Aaron's hands, and into his sons' hands, and waved them as a wave-offering before Jehovah.
  • Then Moses took them from their hands and burned them on the altar on top of the burnt offering as an ordination offering, a pleasing aroma, a food offering presented to the Lord.
  • And Moses took them from off their hands, and burned [them] on the altar, over the burnt-offering: they were a consecration-offering for a sweet odour: it was an offering by fire to Jehovah.
  • Moses also took the breast, which was his share of the ordination ram, and waved it before the Lord as a wave offering, as the Lord commanded Moses.
  • And Moses took the breast, and waved it as a wave-offering before Jehovah; of the ram of consecration it was Moses' part; as Jehovah had commanded Moses.
  • Then Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood from the altar and sprinkled them on Aaron and his garments and on his sons and their garments. So he consecrated Aaron and his garments and his sons and their garments.
  • And Moses took of the anointing oil, and of the blood that was on the altar, and sprinkled [it] on Aaron, on his garments, and on his sons, and on his sons' garments with him; and hallowed Aaron, his garments, and his sons, and his sons' garments with him.
  • Moses then said to Aaron and his sons, “Cook the meat at the entrance to the tent of meeting and eat it there with the bread from the basket of ordination offerings, as I was commanded: ‘Aaron and his sons are to eat it.’
  • And Moses spoke to Aaron and to his sons, Boil the flesh at the entrance of the tent of meeting; and there eat it and the bread that is in the basket of the consecration-offering, as I commanded, saying, Aaron and his sons shall eat it.
  • Then burn up the rest of the meat and the bread.
  • And that which remaineth of the flesh and of the bread shall ye burn with fire.
  • Do not leave the entrance to the tent of meeting for seven days, until the days of your ordination are completed, for your ordination will last seven days.
  • And ye shall not go out from the entrance of the tent of meeting seven days, until the day when the days of your consecration are at an end: for seven days shall ye be consecrated.
  • What has been done today was commanded by the Lord to make atonement for you.
  • As he hath done this day, [so] Jehovah hath commanded to do, to make atonement for you.
  • You must stay at the entrance to the tent of meeting day and night for seven days and do what the Lord requires, so you will not die; for that is what I have been commanded.”
  • And ye shall abide at the entrance of the tent of meeting day and night seven days, and keep the charge of Jehovah, that ye die not; for so I am commanded.
  • So Aaron and his sons did everything the Lord commanded through Moses.
  • And Aaron and his sons did all things that Jehovah had commanded by the hand of Moses.
