The Lord Will Care for Judah

Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime;
it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms.
He gives showers of rain to all people,
and plants of the field to everyone.

Просіть від Господа дощу́ ча́су весняно́го пізнього дощу́, — Господь чинить бли́скавки, і зливни́й дощ посилає їм, кожному траву на полі.

2

The idols speak deceitfully,
diviners see visions that lie;
they tell dreams that are false,
they give comfort in vain.
Therefore the people wander like sheep
oppressed for lack of a shepherd.

Бо говорять марно́ту домо́ві божки́, і віщуни́ бачать лжу, і розказують сни неправдиві, потішають марно́тою. Тому́ вони бродять, немов та ота́ра, мандру́ють вони, бо без па́стиря.

“My anger burns against the shepherds,
and I will punish the leaders;
for the Lord Almighty will care
for his flock, the people of Judah,
and make them like a proud horse in battle.

На па́стирів гнів Мій пала́є, а козлів навіщу́, бо ста́до Своє, Юдин дім покарає Господь Саваот, і вчинить Він їх, немов Свої́м славним коне́м на війні.

4

From Judah will come the cornerstone,
from him the tent peg,
from him the battle bow,
from him every ruler.

З нього буде наріжник, із нього кіло́к, з нього лук бойови́й, з нього вийдуть керма́ничі ра́зом усі,

5

Together theya will be like warriors in battle
trampling their enemy into the mud of the streets.
They will fight because the Lord is with them,
and they will put the enemy horsemen to shame.

І будуть, немов те лица́рство, що то́пче воно на війні, як болото на вулицях, і бу́дуть вони воювати, бо з ними Господь, і кінно́тних їздці́в засоро́млять.

“I will strengthen Judah
and save the tribes of Joseph.
I will restore them
because I have compassion on them.
They will be as though
I had not rejected them,
for I am the Lord their God
and I will answer them.

І вчиню́ Я лица́рським дім Юдин, а дім Йо́сипів спасу́, і верну́ їх, бо змилосе́рдивсь над ними, і стануть вони, ніби Я їх не кидав, Бо Я — Господь Бог їхній, і буду Я їх вислухо́вувати.

7

The Ephraimites will become like warriors,
and their hearts will be glad as with wine.
Their children will see it and be joyful;
their hearts will rejoice in the Lord.

І стане лица́рським Єфрем, і звеселі́є їхнє серце, немов від вина, а їхні сини це побачать та бу́дуть радіти, поті́шиться серце їхнє Го́сподом.

8

I will signal for them
and gather them in.
Surely I will redeem them;
they will be as numerous as before.

8

Я їм дам зна́ка та їх позбираю, бо Я ви́купив їх, і мно́житись будуть, як мно́жились.

9

Though I scatter them among the peoples,
yet in distant lands they will remember me.
They and their children will survive,
and they will return.

І розсію Я їх між наро́дами, і в далеких края́х вони будуть Мене зга́дувати, і жи́тимуть з ді́тьми своїми, і ве́рнуться.

10

I will bring them back from Egypt
and gather them from Assyria.
I will bring them to Gilead and Lebanon,
and there will not be room enough for them.

І верну́ їх із кра́ю єгипетського, і позгрома́джую їх із Ашшу́ру, і введу́ їх до кра́ю Ґілеа́ду й Ліва́ну, і мі́сця не виста́чить їм.

11

They will pass through the sea of trouble;
the surging sea will be subdued
and all the depths of the Nile will dry up.
Assyria’s pride will be brought down
and Egypt’s scepter will pass away.

І при́йде по морі нещастя, і хвилі на морі ударить, і повисиха́ють усі глиби́ни Ріки́, — і буде пони́жена гордість Ашшу́ру, і від Єгипту віді́йметься бе́рло.

12

I will strengthen them in the Lord
and in his name they will live securely,”
declares the Lord.

І зміцню́ їх у Господі, і Йме́нням Його вони будуть ходити, говорить Господь!
