The Passover
The Lord spoke to Moses in the Desert of Sinai in the first month of the second year after they came out of Egypt. He said,
The Lord spoke to Moses in the Desert of Sinai in the first month of the second year after they came out of Egypt. He said,
Першого місяця, другого року після того, як вони вийшли з Єгипетської землі, Господь звернувся до Мойсея в Синайській пустелі, говорячи:
“Have the Israelites celebrate the Passover at the appointed time.
Скажи, нехай ізраїльські сини відзначать Пасху у визначений для неї час.
Celebrate it at the appointed time, at twilight on the fourteenth day of this month, in accordance with all its rules and regulations.”
Чотирнадцятого дня першого місяця, надвечір — проведеш її у визначений час. За її законом і за її правилами проведеш її.
So Moses told the Israelites to celebrate the Passover,
Тож Мойсей сказав ізраїльським синам відзначати Пасху,
and they did so in the Desert of Sinai at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month. The Israelites did everything just as the Lord commanded Moses.
коли починався чотирнадцятий день місяця в Синайській пустелі, — і як Господь заповів Мойсеєві, так ізраїльські сини і зробили.
But some of them could not celebrate the Passover on that day because they were ceremonially unclean on account of a dead body. So they came to Moses and Aaron that same day
І прийшли люди, які були нечисті через душу мертвої людини і не могли в той день відзначати Пасху, тож вони прийшли в той день до Мойсея і Аарона.
and said to Moses, “We have become unclean because of a dead body, but why should we be kept from presenting the Lord’s offering with the other Israelites at the appointed time?”
І сказали ті люди йому: Ми нечисті через душу мертвої людини. Тож невже ми будемо позбавлені можливості принести дар Господу між ізраїльськими синами у визначений для цього час?
Moses answered them, “Wait until I find out what the Lord commands concerning you.”
А Мойсей сказав їм: Постійте тут, а я послухаю, яку вказівку дасть Господь стосовно вас.
“Tell the Israelites: ‘When any of you or your descendants are unclean because of a dead body or are away on a journey, they are still to celebrate the Lord’s Passover,
Скажи ізраїльським синам, говорячи: Кожна людина [1] , яка стала нечистою через мертву душу іншої людини, чи є в далекій дорозі — серед вас чи серед ваших родин, також звершуватиме Пасху для Господа!
but they are to do it on the fourteenth day of the second month at twilight. They are to eat the lamb, together with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.
Другого місяця, чотирнадцятого дня, надвечір вони відзначатимуть її, — з прісним хлібом і гіркими травами її їстимуть;
They must not leave any of it till morning or break any of its bones. When they celebrate the Passover, they must follow all the regulations.
нічого не залишать з неї до ранку, а кістки з неї не поламають. За законом про Пасху відзначатимуть її.
But if anyone who is ceremonially clean and not on a journey fails to celebrate the Passover, they must be cut off from their people for not presenting the Lord’s offering at the appointed time. They will bear the consequences of their sin.
А людина, яка буде чистою і не перебуватиме в далекій дорозі, і знехтує звершити Пасху, — буде винищена та душа з-поміж свого народу! Бо дару Господу не принесла в призначений для цього час, — за свій гріх одержить та людина!
“ ‘A foreigner residing among you is also to celebrate the Lord’s Passover in accordance with its rules and regulations. You must have the same regulations for both the foreigner and the native-born.’ ”
Якщо ж навідається до вас, у вашу землю, чужинець, то і він відзначатиме Пасху для Господа за законом Пасхи та за встановленим порядком, — так він її відзначатиме! Один закон буде у вас і для чужинця, і для місцевого мешканця землі.
The Cloud Above the Tabernacle
On the day the tabernacle, the tent of the covenant law, was set up, the cloud covered it. From evening till morning the cloud above the tabernacle looked like fire.

У той день, коли був поставлений намет, хмара покрила намет — дім свідчення. А ввечері була над наметом наче подоба вогню — до ранку.
That is how it continued to be; the cloud covered it, and at night it looked like fire.
І так було постійно: хмара вкривала його вдень, а подоба вогню — вночі.
Whenever the cloud lifted from above the tent, the Israelites set out; wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped.
І коли підіймалася хмара над наметом, тоді вирушали й ізраїльські сини. І на місці, де ставала хмара, там ставали табором і ізраїльські сини.
At the Lord’s command the Israelites set out, and at his command they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle, they remained in camp.
Згідно із заповіддю Господа ставали табором ізраїльські сини і згідно із заповіддю Господа — підводилися. Усі дні, коли хмара отінювала намет, ізраїльські сини стояли табором.
When the cloud remained over the tabernacle a long time, the Israelites obeyed the Lord’s order and did not set out.
Коли ж хмара затримувалася над наметом багато днів, то ізраїльські сини дотримувалися Божого застереження і не вирушали.
Sometimes the cloud was over the tabernacle only a few days; at the Lord’s command they would encamp, and then at his command they would set out.
А бувало, що хмара отінювала намет кілька днів, то за Господнім словом ставали табором і за Господнім розпорядженням рушали.
Sometimes the cloud stayed only from evening till morning, and when it lifted in the morning, they set out. Whether by day or by night, whenever the cloud lifted, they set out.
Бувало, що хмара залишалася лише від вечора до ранку, а вранці хмара підіймалася, тоді підводилися і вони; чи вдень, чи вночі, як тільки підіймалася хмара, то вирушали й вони.
Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out.
А коли місяцями й численними днями хмара його отінювала, то ізраїльські сини стояли табором, не вирушали.
