І скликав Мойсей усього Ізраїля, та й сказав до ньо́го: „Слухай, Ізраїлю, постанови й зако́ни, які я говорю́ сьогодні в ваші уші, і навчіться їх, і будете пильнувати виконувати їх.
The Lord our God made a covenant with us at Horeb.
Господь, Бог наш, склав з нами заповіта на Хориві.
Не з батьками нашими склав Господь заповіта того, але з нами самими, що ми тут сьогодні всі живі.
The Lord spoke to you face to face out of the fire on the mountain.
Обличчям в обличчя говорив Господь із вами на горі з сере́дини огню.
(At that time I stood between the Lord and you to declare to you the word of the Lord, because you were afraid of the fire and did not go up the mountain.) And he said:
Я того ча́су стояв між Господом та між вами, щоб передавати вам Господні слова, бо ви боялися огню, і ви не зійшли на го́ру, коли Він говорив:
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
„Я Господь, Бог твій, що вивів тебе з єгипетського кра́ю, з дому ра́бства.
“You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
Не роби собі різьби й усякої подо́би з того, що на небі вгорі, і що на землі до́лі, і що в воді під землею.
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
Не вклоняйся їм, і не служи їм, бо Я — Господь, Бог твій, Бог ревнивий, що карає провину батьків на синах, на третіх і на четвертих поколіннях тих, що нена́видять Мене,
but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
і що чинить милість тисячам поколінь тих, хто любить Мене, і хто виконує Мої заповіді.
“You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
Не присягай Іменем Господа, Бога твого, надаре́мно, бо не помилує Господь того, хто присягає Його Ім'я́м надаре́мно.
“Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you.
Пильнуй дня суботнього, щоб святити його, як наказав тобі Господь, Бог твій.
but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns, so that your male and female servants may rest, as you do.
а день сьо́мий — субота для Господа, Бога твого: не роби жодної праці ти й син твій та дочка́ твоя, і раб твій та невільниця твоя, і віл твій, і осел твій, і всяка худоба твоя, і прихо́дько твій, що в брамах твоїх, — щоб відпочив раб твій і невільниця твоя, як і ти.
Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the Lord your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the Lord your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.
І будеш пам'ята́ти, що був ти рабом в єгипетському кра́ї, і вивів тебе Господь, Бог твій, звідти сильною рукою та витягненим раме́ном, тому наказав тобі Господь, Бог твій, святкувати суботній день.
“Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
Шануй свого ба́тька та матір свою, як наказав був тобі Господь, Бог твій, щоб довгі були твої дні, і щоб було тобі добре на землі, яку Господь, Бог твій, дає тобі.
“You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
Не свідчи́ неправдиво проти ближнього свого!
“You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. You shall not set your desire on your neighbor’s house or land, his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
І не бажай жони бли́жнього свого, і не бажай дому ближнього свого, ані поля його, ані раба його, ані невільниці його, ані вола його, ані осла його, ані всього, що є в ближнього твого!
These are the commandments the Lord proclaimed in a loud voice to your whole assembly there on the mountain from out of the fire, the cloud and the deep darkness; and he added nothing more. Then he wrote them on two stone tablets and gave them to me.
Слова ці Господь промовляв до всього вашого зібра́ння, на горі з сере́дини огню, хмари та мряки, сильним голосом. І більш не говорив, і написав їх на двох камінних табли́цях, і дав їх мені.
When you heard the voice out of the darkness, while the mountain was ablaze with fire, all the leaders of your tribes and your elders came to me.
І сталося, коли ви слухали той голос з-посеред те́мряви, а гора горіла огнем, то прийшли до мене всі го́лови ваших племе́н та ваші старші́,
And you said, “The Lord our God has shown us his glory and his majesty, and we have heard his voice from the fire. Today we have seen that a person can live even if God speaks with them.
та й сказали: „Тож Господь, Бог наш, показав нам славу Свою та ве́лич Свою, і голос Його чули ми з сере́дини огню. Цього дня ми бачили, що говорить Бог з люди́ною, — і вона жива!
But now, why should we die? This great fire will consume us, and we will die if we hear the voice of the Lord our God any longer.
А тепер на́що маємо вмирати? Бо спалить нас той великий огонь! Якщо ми бу́демо ще далі слухати голосу Господа Бога нашого, то помре́мо.
For what mortal has ever heard the voice of the living God speaking out of fire, as we have, and survived?
Бо чи є таке тіло, щоб чуло, як ми, голос Бога Живого, що промовляє з сере́дини огню, і жило б?
Go near and listen to all that the Lord our God says. Then tell us whatever the Lord our God tells you. We will listen and obey.”
Приступи сам, і слухай усе, що́ скаже Господь, Бог наш, і ти будеш говорити нам усе, що промовля́тиме Господь, Бог наш, до тебе, а ми будемо слухати й виконаємо“.
The Lord heard you when you spoke to me, and the Lord said to me, “I have heard what this people said to you. Everything they said was good.
І почув Господь голос ваших слів, коли ви промовляли до мене. І сказав до мене Господь: „Чув Я голос цього наро́ду, що промовляли до тебе. Добре все, що вони промовляли.
Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!
О, коли б їхнє серце було їм на те, щоб боялись Мене й пильнували всіх Моїх заповідей по всі дні, щоб було добре їм та синам їхнім навіки!
But you stay here with me so that I may give you all the commands, decrees and laws you are to teach them to follow in the land I am giving them to possess.”
А ти стій тут зо Мною, і Я буду промовляти до тебе кожну заповідь, і постано́ви, і зако́ни, що будеш навчати їх, щоб вони виконували їх у кра́ї, що Я даю їм на спа́дщину його“.
So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left.
І будеш пильнувати виконувати їх, як наказав вам Господь, Бог ваш, — не збочите ні право́руч, ні ліво́руч.
Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.
Усією тією дорогою, що наказав вам Господь, Бог ваш, будете ходити, щоб жили ви й було вам добре, і щоб довгі були ваші дні в кра́ї, що ви оволодієте ним.
