Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand.

Звіщаю ж вам, браття, Єва́нгелію, яку я вам благовісти́в, і яку прийняли́ ви, в якій і стоїте́.
By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
Якою й спасаєтесь, коли пам'ятаєте, яким словом я благовісти́в вам, якщо тільки ви ввірували не нао́сліп.
Бо я передав вам найперш, що й прийняв, — що Христос був умер ради наших гріхів за Писа́нням,
that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
і що Він був похо́ваний, і що третього дня Він воскрес за Писа́нням,
і що з'явився Він Ки́фі, потім Дванадцятьо́м.
After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.
А по́тім з'явився нара́з більше як п'ятистам браттям, що більшість із них живе й досі, а дехто й спочи́ли.
Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles,

and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
Я бо найменший з апо́столів, що негі́дний зватись апо́столом, бо я переслідував був Божу Церкву.
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them — yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
Та благода́ттю Божою я те, що є, і благода́ть Його, що в мені, не даремна була́, але я працював більше всіх їх, правда — не я, але Божа благода́ть, що зо мною вона.
Whether, then, it is I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed.
Тож чи я, чи вони, — ми так проповідуємо, і так ви ввірували.
The Resurrection of the Dead
But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
Коли ж про Христа проповідується, що воскрес Він із мертвих, — як же дехто між вами гово́рять, що немає воскресіння мертвих?
If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised.
Як немає ж воскресіння мертвих, то й Христос не воскрес!
And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.
Коли ж бо Христос не воскрес, то проповідь наша даремна, даремна також віра ваша!
More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised.
Ми знайшлися б тоді неправдивими свідками Божими, бо про Бога ми сві́дчили, що воскреси́в Він Христа, Якого Він не воскресив, якщо не воскресають померлі.
For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either.
Бо як мертві не воскресають, то й Христос не воскрес!
And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.
Коли ж бо Христос не воскрес, тоді віра ваша даремна, — ви в своїх ще гріхах,
Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost.
тоді то загинули й ті, що в Христі упоко́їлись!
If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.
Коли ми наді́ємося на Христа тільки в цьому житті, то ми найнещасні́ші від усіх людей!
But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
Та нині Христос воскрес із мертвих, — пе́рвісток серед покі́йних.
For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.
Смерть бо через люди́ну, і через Люди́ну воскресіння мертвих.
For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.
Бо так, як в Ада́мі вмирають усі, так само в Христі всі оживуть,
But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him.
кожен у своєму порядку: пе́рвісток Христос, по́тім ті, що Христові, під час Його при́ходу.
Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power.
А пото́му кінець, коли Він передасть царство Богові й Отцеві, коли Він зруйнує всякий уря́д, і вла́ду всяку та силу.
For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.
Бо належить Йому царювати, аж доки Він не „покладе всіх Своїх ворогів під ногами Своїми!“
бо „під ноги Його Він усе впокори́в“. Коли ж каже, що впоко́рено все, то ясно, що все, окрім Того, Хто впокори́в Йому все.
When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.
А коли Йому все Він упоко́рить, тоді й Сам Син упоко́риться Тому́, Хто все впокори́в Йому, щоб Бог бу́в у всьому все.
Now if there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them?
Бо що зроблять ті, хто христяться ради мертвих? Коли мертві не воскресають зовсім, то на́що вони ради мертвих і христяться?
And as for us, why do we endanger ourselves every hour?
Для чого й ми повсякча́с наражаємось на небезпе́ки?
I face death every day — yes, just as surely as I boast about you in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Я щодень умираю. Так свідчу, браття, вашою хвалою, що маю її в Христі Ісусі, Господі нашім.
Коли я зо звіра́ми боровся в Ефе́сі, яка мені по-лю́дському ко́ристь, коли мертві не воскресають? „Будем їсти та пити, бо ми взавтра вмрем!“
Не дайте себе зве́сти, — товари́ство лихе псує добрі звича́ї!
Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God — I say this to your shame.
Протверезі́ться правдиво, та й не грішіть, бо деякі Бога не знають, — говорю́ вам на сором!
The Resurrection Body
But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?”
But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?”
Але дехто скаже: „Як мертві воскреснуть? І в якім тілі при́йдуть?“
How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies.
Нерозумний, — що́ ти сієш, те не оживе, як не вмре.
When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else.
І коли сієш, то сієш не тіло майбутнє, але голе зе́рно, яке тра́питься, — пшениці або чого іншого,
But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body.
і Бог йому тіло дає, як захоче, і кожному зе́рняті тіло його.
Not all flesh is the same: People have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another.
Не кожне тіло однакове тіло, але ж інше в люде́й, та інше тіло в скотини, та інше тіло в пташо́к, та інше у риб.
There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another.
Є небесні тіла й тіла зе́мні, але ж інша слава небесним, а інша зе́мним.
The sun has one kind of splendor, the moon another and the stars another; and star differs from star in splendor.
Інша слава для сонця, та інша слава для місяця, та інша слава для зір, — бо зоря́ від зорі́ відрізня́ється славою!
So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable;
Так само й воскресіння мертвих: сіється в тління, — в нетління встає,
it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;
сіється в неславу, — у славі встає, сіється в немочі, — у силі встає,
it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body.
If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
сіється тіло звичайне, — встає тіло духовне. Є тіло звичайне, є й тіло духовне.
Так і написано: „Перша люди́на Ада́м став душею живою“, а останній Ада́м — то дух оживляючий.
The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual.
Та не перше духовне, але звичайне, а потім духовне.
The first man was of the dust of the earth; the second man is of heaven.
Перша люди́на — з землі, зе́мна, друга Люди́на — із неба Госпо́дь.
As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of heaven.
Який зе́мний, такі й земні, і Який небесний, такі й небесні.
І, як носили ми образ зе́много, так і образ небесного бу́демо носити.
I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
І це скажу́, браття, що тіло й кров посісти Божого Царства не можуть, ані тління нетління не посяде.
Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed —
Ось кажу́ я вам таємни́цю: не всі ми засне́мо, та всі перемінимось, —
in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
раптом, як оком змигну́ти, при останній сурмі́: бо засурми́ть вона — і мертві воскреснуть, а ми перемінимось!
For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.
Мусить бо тлінне оце зодягну́тись в нетління, а смертне оце зодягтися в безсмертя.
А коли оце тлінне в нетління зодя́гнеться, і оце смертне в безсмертя зодя́гнеться, тоді збудеться слово написане: „Поглинута смерть перемогою“!
Де, смерте, твоя перемога? Де твоє, смерте, жало́?
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
Жало́ ж смерти — то гріх, а сила гріха — то Зако́н.
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
А Богові дяка, що Він Господом нашим Ісусом Христом перемогу нам дав.
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Отож, брати любі мої, будьте міцні, непохитні, збагачуйтесь за́вжди в Господньому ділі, знаючи, що ваша праця не марно́тна у Господі!
