Darby Bible Translation

  • Final Warnings

This will be my third visit to you. “Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.”a
  • Examine Yourselves

This third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every matter be established.
  • I already gave you a warning when I was with you the second time. I now repeat it while absent: On my return I will not spare those who sinned earlier or any of the others,
  • I have declared beforehand, and I say beforehand as present the second time, and now absent, to those that have sinned before, and to all the rest, that if I come again I will not spare.
  • since you are demanding proof that Christ is speaking through me. He is not weak in dealing with you, but is powerful among you.
  • Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, (who is not weak towards you, but is powerful among you,
  • For to be sure, he was crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God’s power. Likewise, we are weak in him, yet by God’s power we will live with him in our dealing with you.
  • for if indeed he has been crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God's power; for indeed *we* are weak in him, but we shall live with him by God's power towards you,)
  • Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you — unless, of course, you fail the test?
  • examine your own selves if ye be in the faith; prove your own selves: do ye not recognise yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you, unless indeed ye be reprobates?
  • And I trust that you will discover that we have not failed the test.
  • Now I hope that ye will know that *we* are not reprobates.
  • Now we pray to God that you will not do anything wrong — not so that people will see that we have stood the test but so that you will do what is right even though we may seem to have failed.
  • But we pray to God that ye may do nothing evil; not that *we* may appear approved, but that *ye* may do what is right, and *we* be as reprobates.
  • For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth.
  • For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.
  • We are glad whenever we are weak but you are strong; and our prayer is that you may be fully restored.
  • For we rejoice when *we* may be weak and *ye* may be powerful. But this also we pray for, your perfecting.
  • This is why I write these things when I am absent, that when I come I may not have to be harsh in my use of authority — the authority the Lord gave me for building you up, not for tearing you down.
  • On this account I write these things being absent, that being present I may not use severity according to the authority which the Lord has given me for building up, and not for overthrowing.
  • Final Greetings

Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.
  • Final Greetings and Blessing

For the rest, brethren, rejoice; be perfected; be encouraged; be of one mind; be at peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
  • Greet one another with a holy kiss.
  • Salute one another with a holy kiss.
  • All God’s people here send their greetings.
  • All the saints salute you.
  • May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
  • The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, [be] with you all.
