New International Version

Darby Bible Translation

  • Paul, an apostle — sent not from men nor by a man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead —
  • Paul's Greeting to the Galatians

    Paul, apostle, not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ, and God [the] Father who raised him from among [the] dead,
  • and all the brothers and sistersa with me,
    To the churches in Galatia:
  • and all the brethren with me, to the assemblies of Galatia.
  • Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,
  • Grace to you, and peace, from God [the] Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ,
  • who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
  • who gave himself for our sins, so that he should deliver us out of the present evil world, according to the will of our God and Father;
  • to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
  • to whom [be] glory to the ages of ages. Amen.
  • No Other Gospel

    I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel —
  • No Other Gospel

    I wonder that ye thus quickly change, from him that called you in Christ's grace, to a different gospel,
  • which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.
  • which is not another [one]; but there are some that trouble you, and desire to pervert the glad tidings of the Christ.
  • But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!
  • But if even *we* or an angel out of heaven announce as glad tidings to you [anything] besides what we have announced as glad tidings to you, let him be accursed.
  • As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!
  • As we have said before, now also again I say, If any one announce to you as glad tidings [anything] besides what ye have received, let him be accursed.
  • Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
  • For do I now seek to satisfy men or God? or do I seek to please men? If I were yet pleasing men, I were not Christ's bondman.
  • Paul Called by God

    I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin.
  • Paul Defends his Ministry

    But I let you know, brethren, [as to] the glad tidings which were announced by me, that they are not according to man.
  • I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.
  • For neither did I receive them from man, neither was I taught [them], but by revelation of Jesus Christ.
  • For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it.
  • For ye have heard [what was] my conversation formerly in Judaism, that I excessively persecuted the assembly of God, and ravaged it;
  • I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers.
  • and advanced in Judaism beyond many [my] contemporaries in my nation, being exceedingly zealous of the doctrines of my fathers.
  • But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace, was pleased
  • But when God, who set me apart [even] from my mother's womb, and called [me] by his grace,
  • to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, my immediate response was not to consult any human being.
  • was pleased to reveal his Son in me, that I may announce him as glad tidings among the nations, immediately I took not counsel with flesh and blood,
  • I did not go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I was, but I went into Arabia. Later I returned to Damascus.
  • nor went I up to Jerusalem to those [who were] apostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and again returned to Damascus.
  • Then after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to get acquainted with Cephasb and stayed with him fifteen days.
  • Paul Accepted by Apostles and Others

    Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to make acquaintance with Peter, and I remained with him fifteen days;
  • I saw none of the other apostles — only James, the Lord’s brother.
  • but I saw none other of the apostles, but James the brother of the Lord.
  • I assure you before God that what I am writing you is no lie.
  • Now what I write to you, behold, before God, I do not lie.
  • Then I went to Syria and Cilicia.
  • Then I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia.
  • I was personally unknown to the churches of Judea that are in Christ.
  • But I was unknown personally to the assemblies of Judaea which [are] in Christ;
  • They only heard the report: “The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.”
  • only they were hearing that he who persecuted us formerly now announces the glad tidings of the faith which formerly he ravaged:
  • And they praised God because of me.
  • and they glorified God in me.
