New King James Version

Darby Bible Translation

  • The Wickedness and Judgment of Man

Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them,
  • The Wickedness of Man

And it came to pass when mankind began to multiply on the earth, and daughters were born to them,
  • that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.
  • that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair, and took themselves wives of all that they chose.
  • And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive[a] with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”
  • And Jehovah said, My Spirit shall not always plead with Man; for he indeed is flesh; but his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.
  • There were [b]giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
  • In those days were the giants on the earth, and also afterwards, when the sons of God had come in to the daughters of men, and they had borne [children] to them; these were the heroes, who of old were men of renown.
  • Then [c]the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent[d] of the thoughts of his heart was only evil [e]continually.
  • And Jehovah saw that the wickedness of Man was great on the earth, and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart only evil continually.
  • And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.
  • And Jehovah repented that he had made Man on the earth, and it grieved him in his heart.
  • So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.”
  • And Jehovah said, I will destroy Man, whom I have created, from the earth -- from man to cattle, to creeping things, and to fowl of the heavens; for I repent that I have made them.
  • But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
  • Noah's Favor with God

But Noah found favour in the eyes of Jehovah.
  • Noah Pleases God

This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, [f]perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.
  • This is the history of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect amongst his generations: Noah walked with God.
  • And Noah begot three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
  • And Noah begot three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
  • The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
  • And the earth was corrupt before God, and the earth was full of violence.
  • So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.
  • And God looked upon the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted its way on the earth.
  • The Ark Prepared

And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
  • Noah Builds the Ark

And God said to Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me, for the earth is full of violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
  • Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make [g]rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch.
  • Make thyself an ark of gopher wood: [with] cells shalt thou make the ark; and pitch it inside and outside with pitch.
  • And this is how you shall make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred [h]cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits.
  • And thus shalt thou make it: let the length of the ark be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
  • You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks.
  • A light shalt thou make to the ark; and to a cubit high shalt thou finish it above. And the door of the ark shalt thou set in its side: [with] a lower, second, and third [story] shalt thou make it.
  • And behold, I Myself am bringing floodwaters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die.
  • For I, behold, I bring a flood of waters on the earth, to destroy all flesh under the heavens in which is the breath of life: everything that is on the earth shall expire.
  • But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark — you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you.
  • But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt go into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.
  • And of every living thing of all flesh you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female.
  • And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every [sort] shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep [them] alive with thee: they shall be male and female.
  • Of the birds after their kind, of animals after their kind, and of every creeping thing of the earth after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive.
  • Of fowl after their kind, and of the cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of each shall go in to thee, to keep [them] alive.
  • And you shall take for yourself of all food that is eaten, and you shall gather it to yourself; and it shall be food for you and for them.”
  • And take thou of all food that is eaten, and gather [it] to thee, that it may be for food for thee and for them.
  • Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.
  • And Noah did it; according to all that God had commanded him, so did he.
