Praise for God’s Deliverance

Then David spoke to the Lord the words of this song, on the day when the Lord had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul.

1

І засьпівав Давид Господеві того часу, як Господь вирятував його з рук у всїх ворогів його й з руки Саулової, й промовив:*

2

And he said:
“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;

2

Господь — скеля моя у тїснотї моїй, захищає — рятує.

3

The God of my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn[a] of my salvation,
My stronghold and my refuge;
My Savior, You save me from violence.

Він мій Бог і затула моя, й до його втекаю я в нуждї. Він мій щит, ріг спасення мого, він мій тверджений замок про втеки. Визволяє мене він з потали, з ворожої волї й сили.

4

I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies.

Обізвусь до всехвального Бога, й він вороги мої боре.

5

“When the waves of death surrounded me,
The floods of ungodliness [b]made me afraid.

Смерть, як води, мене обняла, зло на мене реве бурчаками.

6

The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me;
The snares of death confronted me.

6

Ланцюги свої пекло на мене кує, й тенета готує.

7

In my distress I called upon the Lord,
And cried out to my God;
He heard my voice from His temple,
And my cry entered His ears.

7

І в скорботї моїй заквилив я до Господа, кричма заплакав. І почув він мене із палати своєї, почув він мій голос, і дійшов до ушей його крик мій й плач, й квиленнє-благаннє.

8

“Then the earth shook and trembled;
The foundations of [c]heaven quaked and were shaken,
Because He was angry.

Позирне, й земля захиталась, і небо здвигнулось в основах. Бо тяжким він гнївом закипів, загорівсь, запалав несказанним.

9

Smoke went up from His nostrils,
And devouring fire from His mouth;
Coals were kindled by it.

9

Із ніздер устав дим, з роту вугльом жеврющим і поломєм жарко жахнуло.

10

He bowed the heavens also, and came down
With darkness under His feet.

10

Прихилив небеса та й зійшов; чорний мрак під ногами у його;

11

He rode upon a cherub, and flew;
And He [d]was seen upon the wings of the wind.

Під ним дух Херубим; він летить крильми вітру в хуртовинї-бурі.

12

He made darkness canopies around Him,
Dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

12

Обгорнувся-закутавсь у шату — у тьму водяну, в чорну хмару.

13

From the brightness before Him
Coals of fire were kindled.

13

Як сяйне, як дихне, летить гряд, летить жар, летить жупел жерущий;

14

“The Lord thundered from heaven,
And the Most High uttered His voice.

14

Загрімів Господь з неба, подав голос Бог всемогущий, найвишчий.

15

He sent out arrows and scattered them;
Lightning bolts, and He vanquished them.

15

Метнув стрільми й роспудив їх різно; блиснув блискавками й злякались.

16

Then the channels of the sea were seen,
The foundations of the world were uncovered,
At the rebuke of the Lord,
At the blast of the breath of His nostrils.

16

І відкрилося оку дно в морі, розверзлись у горах утроби від страшенного гласу, від грому грізного, від духу гнївного.

17

“He sent from above, He took me,
He drew me out of many waters.

17

І простїг він з високого неба правицю, й мене з вод великих

18

He delivered me from my strong enemy,
From those who hated me;
For they were too strong for me.

18

Із неситої злостї, з пучини, з безоднї ворожої витяг.

19

They confronted me in the day of my calamity,
But the Lord was my support.

19

Вони встали на мене в недолї, Господь же менї дав підмогу,

20

He also brought me out into a broad place;
He delivered me because He delighted in me.

20

На простір мене вивів з тїсноти й вирвав із рук беззаконних.

21

“The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness;
According to the cleanness of my hands
He has recompensed me.

21

І воздав менї Бог по моїй щирій правдї всї блага на сьвітї, наградив він мене за мої чисті руки своїм воздаяннєм.

22

For I have kept the ways of the Lord,
And have not wickedly departed from my God.

22

Бо путями Господнїми твердо ходив я, цураючись кривди; не чинив я ледачого ледарства проти спасенного слова.

23

For all His judgments were before me;
And as for His statutes, I did not depart from them.

23

Всї закони Господнї перед віччу в мене стоять що години. Не звертаю й праворуч із них, а не то, щоб лїворуч звертати.

24

I was also blameless before Him,
And I kept myself from my iniquity.

24

Непорочен і чист перед ним був устами я й серцем. Над усе я гріха й переступу Божої волї берігся.

25

Therefore the Lord has [e]recompensed me according to my righteousness,
According to [f]my cleanness in His eyes.

25

І воздав Господь Бог за мою щиру правду менї воздаяннєм, за мої чисті руки перед віччу в його, обмислив прещедро.

26

“With the merciful You will show Yourself merciful;
With a blameless man You will show Yourself blameless;

26

З преподобним єси в милосердю його преподобен і сам ти. І правдивого в правдї своїй ублажаєш земними благами.

27

With the pure You will show Yourself pure;
And with the devious You will show Yourself shrewd.

27

З чистим серцем ти чист, і показуєш правду йому без утайки, а з олживим, зрадливим, лукавим, його ж робом ходиш і робиш.

28

You will save the humble[g] people;
But Your eyes are on the haughty, that You may bring them down.

28

Заступаєшся ти за убогих в лихій їх годинї й тїснотї, очі ж гордих, неситих пихою загреб хилиш низько до долу.

29

“For You are my lamp, O Lord;
The Lord shall enlighten my darkness.

29

Ти, мій Боже, у мене за сьвітло, ти сьвітиш менї й у темнотї, і просьвічуєш темряву й розуму й серця сумного.

30

For by You I can run against a troop;
By my God I can leap over a wall.

30

Я з тобою воюю, з тобою звойовую військо хоробре, і з тобою на тверджі потужні, на мури злїзаю високі.

31

As for God, His way is perfect;
The word of the Lord is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

31

Бог! у його дорога без хиби права, слово чисте у його; щит спасенний він тим, хто надїю в йому одному покладає;

32

“For who is God, except the Lord?
And who is a rock, except our God?

32

Бо хто Бог, опріч Господа, Бога одного, і хто нам защита, опріч його сьвятого, єдиного Бога справдешнього в сьвітї?

33

[h]God is my strength and power,
And He makes [i]my way perfect.

33

Він мене підперезує силою й путь менї рівно рівняє,

34

He makes [j]my feet like the feet of deer,
And sets me on my high places.

34

Робить ноги бистрими, як в оленя, й гори знижає високі;

35

He teaches my hands [k]to make war,
So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

35

Робить з рук моїх він самосїка-меча, з пліч — мідяного лука.

36

“You have also given me the shield of Your salvation;
Your gentleness has made me great.

36

І щитом закриває спасенним, і милостю пишно величить.

37

You enlarged my path under me;
So my feet did not slip.

37

І ступнї розширяє мої, й нога не спіткнеться у мене.

38

“I have pursued my enemies and destroyed them;
Neither did I turn back again till they were destroyed.

38

Я вганяю за ворогом прудко, хапаю, не дам улизнути,

39

And I have destroyed them and wounded them,
So that they could not rise;
They have fallen under my feet.

39

І вирізую всїх до ноги, щоб на мене вже більш не вставали.

40

For You have armed me with strength for the battle;
You have [l]subdued under me those who rose against me.

40

Підперезуєш міццю мене, й лечу я до бою стрілою,

41

You have also [m]given me the necks of my enemies,
So that I destroyed those who hated me.

41

Бо женеш вороги сперед мене, я в пень їх запеклих рубаю.

42

They looked, but there was none to save;
Even to the Lord, but He did not answer them.

42

І кричать вони й квилять, нема їм підмоги й рятунку. Кричма квилять до Господа, нї! він мовчить і до них не озветься.

43

Then I beat them as fine as the dust of the earth;
I trod them like dirt in the streets,
And I [n]spread them out.

43

Й розкидую їх, розсипаю, мов землю, мов порох по вітру; я топчу їх ногами, мішу, як грязюку в багнї, у калюжі.

44

“You have also delivered me from the [o]strivings of my people;
You have kept me as the head of the nations.
A people I have not known shall serve me.

44

Рятував ти від змовин мене, уберіг і від бунту слїпого, і зробив головою язиків чужих, боввохвальників страннїх.

45

The foreigners submit to me;
As soon as they hear, they obey me.

45

Люди — народи страннї, язицї чужі, боввохвалцї непевні, що не знав їх, не відав, вони тепер служать менї, послухають.

46

The foreigners fade away,
And [p]come frightened from their hideouts.

46

Чужий рід, чужа віра, леститься до мене, менї догоджає, й тремтять вороги чужоземцї по тверджених замках високих.

47

“The Lord lives!
Blessed be my Rock!
Let God be exalted,
The Rock of my salvation!

47

Жив Господь і прославлена скеля моя й защита спасенна,

48

It is God who avenges me,
And subdues the peoples under me;

48

Бог, що помсту мою взяв на себе, піддавши народи під мене,

49

He delivers me from my enemies.
You also lift me up above those who rise against me;
You have delivered me from the violent man.

49

Що вхопив мене з рук в супостат і підняв мене в гору, і від зрадника з серцем запеклим, лихим, слобонив мою душу!

50

Therefore I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the Gentiles,
And sing praises to Your name.

50

Тим я, Господи, буду в язицїх невірних тебе прославляти, й твоє імя, прізвище в псальмах, величнїх піснях восьпівати.

51

“He is the tower of salvation to His king,
And shows mercy to His anointed,
To David and his descendants forevermore.”

Бо цареві свойму ти на подуж підмогу велику являєш, й Давиду помазанцеві й його роду по вік призначаєш.
