So he said, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.”

And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.” -

А той відказав: „Я був дуже горливий для Господа, Бога Савао́та, бо Ізраїлеві сини покинули заповіта Твого та порозбива́ли же́ртівники Твої, а пророків Твоїх повбивали мече́м, — і позостався я сам. І шукали вони душу мою, щоб узяти її“.

А Ілля сказав: Я справді палав ревністю [1] за Господом Вседержителем, бо ізраїльські сини Тебе залишили, розвалили Твої жертовники, а Твоїх пророків повбивали мечем, і я один залишився! І моєї душі шукають, щоб її забрати!
