    The Temple Musicians

    David assigned the following men to lead the music at the house of the LORD after the Ark was placed there.

    They were ministering with music before the dwelling place of the tabernacle of meeting, until Solomon had built the house of the Lord in Jerusalem, and they served in their office according to their order.

    They ministered with music at the Tabernacleh until Solomon built the Temple of the LORD in Jerusalem. They carried out their work, following all the regulations handed down to them.

    The Family of Aaron

    But Aaron and his sons offered sacrifices on the altar of burnt offering and on the altar of incense, for all the work of the Most Holy Place, and to make atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.

    Aaron’s Descendants

    Only Aaron and his descendants served as priests. They presented the offerings on the altar of burnt offering and the altar of incense, and they performed all the other duties related to the Most Holy Place. They made atonement for Israel by doing everything that Moses, the servant of God, had commanded them.

    Dwelling Places of the Levites

    Now these are their dwelling places throughout their settlements in their territory, for they were given by lot to the sons of Aaron, of the family of the Kohathites:

    Territory for the Levites

    This is a record of the towns and territory assigned by means of sacred lots to the descendants of Aaron, who were from the clan of Kohath.

    They gave them Hebron in the land of Judah, with its surrounding [s]common-lands.

    This territory included Hebron and its surrounding pasturelands in Judah,

    But the fields of the city and its villages they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

    but the fields and outlying areas belonging to the city were given to Caleb son of Jephunneh.

    And to the sons of Aaron they gave one of the cities of refuge, Hebron; also Libnah with its common-lands, Jattir, Eshtemoa with its common-lands,

    And from the territory of Benjamin they were given Gibeon,o Geba, Alemeth, and Anathoth, each with its pasturelands. So thirteen towns were given to the descendants of Aaron.

    To the rest of the family of the tribe of the Kohathites they gave by lot ten cities from half the tribe of Manasseh.

    The remaining descendants of Kohath received ten towns from the territory of the half-tribe of Manasseh by means of sacred lots.

    And to the sons of Gershon, throughout their families, they gave thirteen cities from the tribe of Issachar, from the tribe of Asher, from the tribe of Naphtali, and from the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan.

    The descendants of Gershon received by sacred lots thirteen towns from the territories of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and from the Bashan area of Manasseh, east of the Jordan.

    To the sons of Merari, throughout their families, they gave twelve cities from the tribe of Reuben, from the tribe of Gad, and from the tribe of Zebulun.

    The descendants of Merari received by sacred lots twelve towns from the territories of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.

    So the children of Israel gave these cities with their [w]common-lands to the Levites.

    And they gave by lot from the tribe of the children of Judah, from the tribe of the children of Simeon, and from the tribe of the children of Benjamin these cities which are called by their names.

    Now some of the families of the sons of Kohath were given cities as their territory from the tribe of Ephraim.

    And they gave them one of the cities of refuge, Shechem with its common-lands, in the mountains of Ephraim, also Gezer with its common-lands,

    The remaining descendants of Kohath were assigned the towns of Aner and Bileam from the territory of the half-tribe of Manasseh, each with its pasturelands.

    From the family of the half-tribe of Manasseh the sons of Gershon were given Golan in Bashan with its common-lands and [x]Ashtaroth with its common-lands.

    The descendants of Gershon received the towns of Golan (in Bashan) and Ashtaroth from the territory of the half-tribe of Manasseh, each with its pasturelands.

    From the tribe of Zebulun the rest of the children of Merari were given [z]Rimmon with its common-lands and Tabor with its common-lands.

    The remaining descendants of Merari received the towns of Jokneam, Kartah,q Rimmon,r and Tabor from the territory of Zebulun, each with its pasturelands.

    And on the other side of the Jordan, across from Jericho, on the east side of the Jordan, they were given from the tribe of Reuben: Bezer in the wilderness with its common-lands, Jahzah with its common-lands,
