Bildad: Job Should Repent

Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said:

1

Тогда ответил Билдад из Шуаха:

“How long will you speak these things,
And the words of your mouth be like a strong wind?

2

— Долго ли будешь ты так говорить?
Твои слова — буйный ветер!

3

Does God subvert judgment?
Or does the Almighty pervert justice?

Разве Бог извращает суд?
Извращает ли Всемогущий правду?

4

If your sons have sinned against Him,
He has cast them away [a]for their transgression.

4

Если твои дети согрешили против Него,
Он отдал их во власть их греха.

5

If you would earnestly seek God
And make your supplication to the Almighty,

5

Но если ты воззовешь к Богу
и помолишься Всемогущему,

6

If you were pure and upright,
Surely now He would [b]awake for you,
And prosper your rightful dwelling place.

если ты чист и праведен,
то и ныне поднимется Он для тебя
и вернет тебя на должное место.

7

Though your beginning was small,
Yet your latter end would increase abundantly.

Прежнее тебе покажется ничтожным,
настолько велико будет твое будущее.

“For inquire, please, of the former age,
And consider the things discovered by their fathers;

Спроси прежнее поколение,
рассмотри, что узнали их предки,

9

For we were born yesterday, and know [c]nothing,
Because our days on earth are a shadow.

9

ведь мы лишь вчерашние и ничего не знаем,
наши дни на земле — лишь тень.

10

Will they not teach you and tell you,
And utter words from their heart?

Неужели они не научат тебя, не наставят
и слов своей мудрости не изрекут?

“Can the papyrus grow up without a marsh?
Can the reeds flourish without water?

Растет ли папирус, где нет болот?
Поднимается ли тростник без влаги?

While it is yet green and not cut down,
It withers before any other plant.

Пока в цвету они и еще не срезаны,
но засыхают быстрее всех трав.

13

So are the paths of all who forget God;
And the hope of the hypocrite shall perish,

Таков удел всех, кто забыл Бога,
и умирает надежда безбожников.

14

Whose confidence shall be cut off,
And whose trust is [d]a spider’s web.

Их упование непрочно,
их безопасность — паучья сеть.

15

He leans on his house, but it does not stand.
He holds it fast, but it does not endure.

Обопрутся на сеть свою — она не выдержит,
схватятся — не удержит.

16

He grows green in the sun,
And his branches spread out in his garden.

Расцветают они под солнцем,
простирая ветви над садом;

17

His roots wrap around the rock heap,
And look for a place in the stones.

груду камней оплетая корнями,
пробиваются они меж камней.21

18

If he is destroyed from his place,
Then it will deny him, saying, ‘I have not seen you.’

А когда их исторгнут с прежнего места,
само место от них отречется:
«Я никогда вас не видело».

19

“Behold, this is the joy of His way,
And out of the earth others will grow.

Вот вся радость их жизни!22
А из земли прорастут другие.

20

Behold, God will not [e]cast away the blameless,
Nor will He uphold the evildoers.

20

Итак не отвергнет Бог беспорочного
и не поддержит руки злодея.

21

He will yet fill your mouth with laughing,
And your lips with [f]rejoicing.

Он наполнит еще смехом твои уста
и ликованием — губы твои.

22

Those who hate you will be clothed with shame,
And the dwelling place of the wicked [g]will come to nothing.”

22

Враги твои облекутся в стыд,
и шатров нечестивых не станет.
