New King James Version

Darby Bible Translation

  • Man’s Treachery and God’s Constancy

    To the Chief Musician. On [a]an eight-stringed harp. A Psalm of David.

    Help,[b] Lord, for the godly man ceases!
    For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men.
  • Help, for the Godly Are No More

    {To the chief Musician. Upon Sheminith. A Psalm of David.} Save, Jehovah, for the godly man is gone; for the faithful have failed from among the children of men.
  • They speak idly everyone with his neighbor;
    With flattering lips and [c]a double heart they speak.
  • They speak falsehood every one with his neighbour: [with] flattering lip, with a double heart, do they speak.
  • May the Lord [d]cut off all flattering lips,
    And the tongue that speaks [e]proud things,
  • Jehovah will cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that speaketh proud things,
  • Who have said,
    “With our tongue we will prevail;
    Our lips are our own;
    Who is lord over us?”
  • Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail, our lips are our own: who [is] lord over us?
  • “For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy,
    Now I will arise,” says the Lord;
    “I will set him in the safety for which he yearns.”
  • Because of the oppression of the afflicted, because of the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith Jehovah, I will set [him] in safety, at whom they puff.
  • The words of the Lord are pure words,
    Like silver tried in a furnace of earth,
    Purified seven times.
  • The words of Jehovah are pure words, silver tried in the furnace of earth, purified seven times.
  • You shall keep them, O Lord,
    You shall preserve them from this generation forever.
  • Thou, Jehovah, wilt keep them, thou wilt preserve them from this generation for ever.
  • The wicked prowl on every side,
    When vileness is exalted among the sons of men.
  • The wicked walk about on every side, when vileness is exalted among the children of men.
