“If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,”
Let Israel now say —

Посходня пісня Давидова. Я к би не Господь, що був з нами — скажи бо Ізраїлю! —

“If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,
When men rose up against us,

Як би не був Господь з нами, коли люде проти нас встали,

Then they would have swallowed us alive,
When their wrath was kindled against us;

То живцем проковтнули б нас, як запалав гнїв їх проти нас;

Then the waters would have overwhelmed us,
The stream would have [a]gone over our soul;

Затопили би нас води, рвучі потоки залили б душу нашу;

Then the swollen waters
Would have [b]gone over our soul.”

З шумом пронесли б ся буйні води понад душею нашою.

Blessed be the Lord,
Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.

Благословен Господь, що не дав нас зубам їх на здобич.

Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the [c]fowlers;
The snare is broken, and we have escaped.

Душа наша спаслась, як пташина із сельця птахоловця; сельце розірвалось, і ми спаслися.

Our help is in the name of the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.

Поміч наша в імени Господа, що сотворив небо і землю.
