New King James Version

New Living Translation

  • The Blessedness of Answered Prayer

    A Psalm. A Song at the dedication of the house of David.

    I will extol You, O Lord, for You have lifted me up,
    And have not let my foes rejoice over me.
  • A psalm of David. A song for the dedication of the Temple.

    I will exalt you, LORD, for you rescued me.
    You refused to let my enemies triumph over me.
  • O Lord my God, I cried out to You,
    And You healed me.
  • O LORD my God, I cried to you for help,
    and you restored my health.
  • O Lord, You brought my soul up from the grave;
    You have kept me alive, [a]that I should not go down to the pit.
  • You brought me up from the grave,a O LORD.
    You kept me from falling into the pit of death.
  • Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His,
    And give thanks at the remembrance of [b]His holy name.
  • Sing to the LORD, all you godly ones!
    Praise his holy name.
  • For His anger is but for a moment,
    His favor is for life;
    Weeping may endure for a night,
    But [c]joy comes in the morning.
  • For his anger lasts only a moment,
    but his favor lasts a lifetime!
    Weeping may last through the night,
    but joy comes with the morning.
  • Now in my prosperity I said,
    “I shall never be [d]moved.”
  • When I was prosperous, I said,
    “Nothing can stop me now!”
  • Lord, by Your favor You have made my mountain stand strong;
    You hid Your face, and I was troubled.
  • Your favor, O LORD, made me as secure as a mountain.
    Then you turned away from me, and I was shattered.
  • I cried out to You, O Lord;
    And to the Lord I made supplication:
  • I cried out to you, O LORD.
    I begged the Lord for mercy, saying,
  • “What profit is there in my blood,
    When I go down to the pit?
    Will the dust praise You?
    Will it declare Your truth?
  • “What will you gain if I die,
    if I sink into the grave?
    Can my dust praise you?
    Can it tell of your faithfulness?
  • Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me;
    Lord, be my helper!”
  • Hear me, LORD, and have mercy on me.
    Help me, O LORD.”
  • You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
    You have put off [e]my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,
  • You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing.
    You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy,
  • To the end that my [f]glory may sing praise to You and not be silent.
    O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
  • that I might sing praises to you and not be silent.
    O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever!
