The Heritage of the Righteous and the Calamity of the Wicked

A Psalm of David.

Do not fret because of evildoers,
Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.

1

Давидова. Не палай гнївом на злочинників, не завидуй творящим неправду.

2

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass,
And wither as the green herb.

2

Вони бо, як трава, скоро поникнуть, і, як зелене листє, повянуть.

3

Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.

3

Вповай на Господа, і твори добро; оставай в країнї, і любуйся вірностю;

4

Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

4

І радуйся в Господї, то він дасть тобі бажання серця твого.

5

Commit[a] your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.

5

Відкрий Господеві дорогу твою, і вповай на него, і він допоможе;

6

He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light,
And your justice as the noonday.

6

І виявить він правоту твою, як сьвітло, і правду твою, як полудне.

7

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.

7

Вповай тихим серцем на Господа, і дожидай його! Не запалюйся гнївом на того, кому щаститься дорога, на чоловіка, що лихі задуми свої сповняє!

8

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;
Do not fret — it only causes harm.

8

Відхиляйсь від гнїву, і не досадуй! Не подавайсь гнїву, щоб творити лихо.

9

For evildoers shall be [b]cut off;
But those who wait on the Lord,
They shall inherit the earth.

9

Бо лиходїї будуть знищені; хто ж надїється на Господа, ті будуть властенцями землї.

10

For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more;
Indeed, you will look carefully for his place,
But it shall be no more.

10

Тілько ще трохи, і не буде беззаконника; і споглянеш на місце його, та й нема його.

11

But the meek shall inherit the earth,
And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Тихі ж люде займуть землю, і будуть радуватись повним супокоєм.

12

The wicked plots against the just,
And gnashes at him with his teeth.

12

Беззаконник замишляє проти праведника, і зубами своїми скрегоче на него.

13

The Lord laughs at him,
For He sees that his day is coming.

13

Господь сьміється з него, бачить бо, що прийде день його.

14

The wicked have drawn the sword
And have bent their bow,
To cast down the poor and needy,
To slay those who are of upright conduct.

Добули беззаконники меча, і натягнули лука свого, щоб повалити мізерного і бідного, порубати ходячих правою дорогою.

15

Their sword shall enter their own heart,
And their bows shall be broken.

15

Меч їх пройде їм крізь серце їх, і луки їх сокрушаться.

16

A little that a righteous man has
Is better than the riches of many wicked.

16

Луччий малий достаток праведника, як наддостатки многих беззаконників.

17

For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,
But the Lord upholds the righteous.

17

Бо руки безбожників будуть поломані, а праведника піддержить Господь.

18

The Lord knows the days of the upright,
And their inheritance shall be forever.

18

Знає Господь днї тих, що непорочні, і спадьщина їх буде по віки;

19

They shall not be ashamed in the evil time,
And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

19

Вони не осоромляться в лиху годину, і в день голоднечі вони наситяться.

20

But the wicked shall perish;
And the enemies of the Lord,
Like the splendor of the meadows, shall vanish.
Into smoke they shall vanish away.

20

Бо погинуть беззаконники, і вороги Господа, як товсті ягнята; вони никнуть, никнуть вони, як дим.

21

The wicked borrows and does not repay,
But the righteous shows mercy and gives.

21

Беззаконник пожичає, і не віддає; праведник же щедрий, і дає.

22

For those blessed by Him shall inherit the earth,
But those cursed by Him shall be [c]cut off.

22

Бо благословенні його унаслїдують землю, а прокляті його будуть винищені.

23

The steps of a good man are [d]ordered by the Lord,
And He delights in his way.

23

Господь править ходою чоловіка, і дорога його подобається йому;

24

Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down;
For the Lord upholds him with His hand.

24

Коли часом впаде, не забється, бо Господь піддержує руку його.

25

I have been young, and now am old;
Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken,
Nor his descendants begging bread.

25

Був я молодим і зостарівся, та нїколи не бачив я опущеного праведника, або, щоб рід його просив хлїба.

26

He is [e]ever merciful, and lends;
And his descendants are blessed.

26

Цїлий день щедра рука його, і він пожичає, і рід його буде благословенний.

27

Depart from evil, and do good;
And dwell forevermore.

27

Одхиляйсь від злого і твори добро, і останешся по віки!

28

For the Lord loves justice,
And does not forsake His saints;
They are preserved forever,
But the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off.

28

Бо Господь любить правду і не покине преподобних; по віки сохранить їх, а знищить рід беззаконних.

29

The righteous shall inherit the land,
And dwell in it forever.

29

Праведні будуть мати землю, і жити на нїй по віки.

30

The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom,
And his tongue talks of justice.

30

З уст праведника виходить премудрість, і язик його говорить правду;

31

The law of his God is in his heart;
None of his steps shall [f]slide.

31

Закон Бога його в серцї його, не спотикнеться нога його, ступаючи.

32

The wicked watches the righteous,
And seeks to slay him.

32

Беззаконник чигає на праведника, і хоче зігнати його з сьвіту;

33

The Lord will not leave him in his hand,
Nor condemn him when he is judged.

33

Господь не оставить його в руцї його, і не осудить його на судї.

34

Wait on the Lord,
And keep His way,
And He shall exalt you to inherit the land;
When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.

34

Дожидай Господа і пильнуй дороги його, і він удостоїть тебе мати землю. Коли будуть знищені беззаконники, побачиш її.

35

I have seen the wicked in great power,
And spreading himself like a native green tree.

35

Я бачив беззаконника, потужного, що розростався, як не пересаджене зелене дерево;

36

Yet [g]he passed away, and behold, he was no more;
Indeed I sought him, but he could not be found.

36

Та й минувся він, і бач, не було вже його; і я шукав, та й не знайшов його.

37

Mark the blameless man, and observe the upright;
For the future of that man is peace.

37

Вважай на безвинного і гляди на правдивого; є бо добра доля для чоловіка мирного.

38

But the transgressors shall be destroyed together;
The future of the wicked shall be cut off.

38

Переступники ж будуть знищені всї до одного, буде загороджена будучність беззаконним людям.

39

But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord;
He is their strength in the time of trouble.

39

Спасеннє ж праведних від Господа, він сила їх в час тїсноти.

40

And the Lord shall help them and deliver them;
He shall deliver them from the wicked,
And save them,
Because they trust in Him.

40

І Господь допоможе їм і спасе їх; він вислобонить їх від беззаконних і сохранить їх, вони бо вповали на него.
