New King James Version

New American Standard Bible

  • A Prayer of Faith in Time of Distress

    To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. On [a]an eight-stringed harp. A Psalm of David.

    O Lord, do not rebuke me in Your anger,
    Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure.
  • O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger,
    Nor chasten me in Your wrath.
  • Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak;
    O Lord, heal me, for my bones are troubled.
  • Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am pining away;
    Heal me, O LORD, for my bones are dismayed.
  • My soul also is greatly troubled;
    But You, O Lord — how long?
  • And my soul is greatly dismayed;
    But You, O LORD — how long?
  • Return, O Lord, deliver me!
    Oh, save me for Your mercies’ sake!
  • Return, O LORD, rescue my soul;
    Save me because of Your lovingkindness.
  • For in death there is no remembrance of You;
    In the grave who will give You thanks?
  • For there is no mention of You in death;
    In Sheol who will give You thanks?
  • I am weary with my groaning;
    [b]All night I make my bed swim;
    I drench my couch with my tears.
  • I am weary with my sighing;
    Every night I make my bed swim,
    I dissolve my couch with my tears.
  • My eye wastes away because of grief;
    It grows old because of all my enemies.
  • My eye has wasted away with grief;
    It has become old because of all my adversaries.
  • Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity;
    For the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping.
  • Depart from me, all you who do iniquity,
    For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.
  • The Lord has heard my supplication;
    The Lord will receive my prayer.
  • The LORD has heard my supplication,
    The LORD receives my prayer.
  • Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled;
    Let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly.
  • All my enemies will be ashamed and greatly dismayed;
    They shall turn back, they will suddenly be ashamed.
