New King James Version

New American Standard Bible

  • Urgent Prayer for the Restored Favor of God

    To the Chief Musician. Set to [a]“Lily of the Testimony.” A Michtam of David. For teaching. When he fought against Mesopotamia and Syria of Zobah, and Joab returned and killed twelve thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.

    O God, You have cast us off;
    You have broken us down;
    You have been displeased;
    Oh, restore us again!
  • O God, You have rejected us. You have broken us;
    You have been angry; O, restore us.
  • You have made the earth tremble;
    You have broken it;
    Heal its breaches, for it is shaking.
  • You have made the land quake, You have split it open;
    Heal its breaches, for it totters.
  • You have shown Your people hard things;
    You have made us drink the wine of [b]confusion.
  • You have made Your people experience hardship;
    You have given us wine to drink that makes us stagger.
  • You have given a banner to those who fear You,
    That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah
  • You have given a banner to those who fear You,
    That it may be displayed because of the truth.
    Selah.
    That Your beloved may be delivered,
    Save with Your right hand, and answer us!
    God has spoken in His holiness:
    “I will exult, I will portion out Shechem and measure out the valley of Succoth.
    “Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine;
    Ephraim also is the helmet of My head;
    Judah is My scepter.
    “Moab is My washbowl;
    Over Edom I shall throw My shoe;
    Shout loud, O Philistia, because of Me!”
    Who will bring me into the besieged city?
    Who will lead me to Edom?
    Have not You Yourself, O God, rejected us?
    And will You not go forth with our armies, O God?
    O give us help against the adversary,
    For deliverance by man is in vain.
    Through God we shall do valiantly,
    And it is He who will tread down our adversaries.
  • That Your beloved may be delivered,
    Save with Your right hand, and hear me.
  • That Your beloved may be delivered,
    Save with Your right hand, and answer us!
  • God has spoken in His holiness:
    “I will rejoice;
    I will divide Shechem
    And measure out the Valley of Succoth.
  • God has spoken in His holiness:
    “I will exult, I will portion out Shechem and measure out the valley of Succoth.
  • Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine;
    Ephraim also is the [c]helmet for My head;
    Judah is My lawgiver.
  • “Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine;
    Ephraim also is the helmet of My head;
    Judah is My scepter.
  • Moab is My washpot;
    Over Edom I will cast My shoe;
    Philistia, shout in triumph because of Me.”
  • “Moab is My washbowl;
    Over Edom I shall throw My shoe;
    Shout loud, O Philistia, because of Me!”
  • Who will bring me to the strong city?
    Who will lead me to Edom?
  • Who will bring me into the besieged city?
    Who will lead me to Edom?
  • Is it not You, O God, who cast us off?
    And You, O God, who did not go out with our armies?
  • Have not You Yourself, O God, rejected us?
    And will You not go forth with our armies, O God?
  • Give us help from trouble,
    For the help of man is useless.
  • O give us help against the adversary,
    For deliverance by man is in vain.
  • Through God we will do valiantly,
    For it is He who shall tread down our enemies.
  • Through God we shall do valiantly,
    And it is He who will tread down our adversaries.
