    To the Chief Musician. To the tune of [a]“Death of the Son.” A Psalm of David.

    I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart;
    I will tell of all Your marvelous works.
  • Psalm 9a, b
    For the director of music. To the tune of “The Death of the Son.” A psalm of David.

    I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
    I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
  • I will be glad and rejoice in You;
    I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.
  • I will be glad and rejoice in you;
    I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.
  • When my enemies turn back,
    They shall fall and perish at Your presence.
  • My enemies turn back;
    they stumble and perish before you.
  • For You have maintained my right and my cause;
    You sat on the throne judging in righteousness.
  • For you have upheld my right and my cause,
    sitting enthroned as the righteous judge.
  • You have rebuked the [b]nations,
    You have destroyed the wicked;
    You have blotted out their name forever and ever.
  • You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked;
    you have blotted out their name for ever and ever.
  • O enemy, destructions are finished forever!
    And you have destroyed cities;
    Even their memory has perished.
  • Endless ruin has overtaken my enemies,
    you have uprooted their cities;
    even the memory of them has perished.
  • But the Lord shall endure forever;
    He has prepared His throne for judgment.
  • The Lord reigns forever;
    he has established his throne for judgment.
  • He shall judge the world in righteousness,
    And He shall administer judgment for the peoples in uprightness.
  • He rules the world in righteousness
    and judges the peoples with equity.
  • The Lord also will be a refuge[c] for the oppressed,
    A refuge in times of trouble.
  • The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed,
    a stronghold in times of trouble.
  • And those who know Your name will put their trust in You;
    For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
  • Those who know your name trust in you,
    for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
  • Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion!
    Declare His deeds among the people.
  • Sing the praises of the Lord, enthroned in Zion;
    proclaim among the nations what he has done.
  • When He avenges blood, He remembers them;
    He does not forget the cry of the [d]humble.
  • For he who avenges blood remembers;
    he does not ignore the cries of the afflicted.
  • Have mercy on me, O Lord!
    Consider my trouble from those who hate me,
    You who lift me up from the gates of death,
  • Lord, see how my enemies persecute me!
    Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death,
  • That I may tell of all Your praise
    In the gates of [e]the daughter of Zion.
    I will rejoice in Your salvation.
  • that I may declare your praises
    in the gates of Daughter Zion,
    and there rejoice in your salvation.
  • The [f]nations have sunk down in the pit which they made;
    In the net which they hid, their own foot is caught.
  • The nations have fallen into the pit they have dug;
    their feet are caught in the net they have hidden.
  • The Lord is known by the judgment He executes;
    The wicked is snared in the work of his own hands.

  • The Lord is known by his acts of justice;
    the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands.c
  • The wicked shall be turned into hell,
    And all the [h]nations that forget God.
  • The wicked go down to the realm of the dead,
    all the nations that forget God.
  • For the needy shall not always be forgotten;
    The expectation of the poor shall not perish forever.
  • But God will never forget the needy;
    the hope of the afflicted will never perish.
  • Arise, O Lord,
    Do not let man prevail;
    Let the [i]nations be judged in Your sight.
  • Arise, Lord, do not let mortals triumph;
    let the nations be judged in your presence.
  • Put them in fear, O Lord,
    That the [j]nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah
  • Strike them with terror, Lord;
    let the nations know they are only mortal.
