Moses Before Pharaoh

So the Lord said to Moses: “See, I have made you as God to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet.

Господь сказал Моисею:
— Смотри, Я сделал так, чтобы ты был как Бог для фараона, а твой брат Аарон будет как бы твоим пророком.

You shall speak all that I command you. And Aaron your brother shall tell Pharaoh to send the children of Israel out of his land.

Говори все, что Я тебе велю, а твой брат Аарон пусть скажет фараону, чтобы тот отпустил израильтян из своей страны.

And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt.

Но Я сделаю сердце фараона упрямым, и хотя Я сотворю много знамений и чудес в Египте,

But Pharaoh will not heed you, so that I may lay My hand on Egypt and bring My [a]armies and My people, the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.

он не послушает тебя. Тогда Я обращу руку Мою на Египет и великими судами выведу Мои воинства — Мой народ, израильтян, — из этой земли.

And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch out My hand on Egypt and bring out the children of Israel from among them.”

Египтяне узнают, что Я — Господь, когда Я занесу руку над Египтом и выведу оттуда израильтян.

Then Moses and Aaron did so; just as the Lord commanded them, so they did.

Моисей и Аарон сделали, как повелел им Господь.

And Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh.

Aaron’s Miraculous Rod

Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,

Господь сказал Моисею и Аарону:

“When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘Show a miracle for yourselves,’ then you shall say to Aaron, ‘Take your rod and cast it before Pharaoh, and let it become a serpent.’ ”

— Когда фараон скажет вам: «Сотворите чудо», скажи Аарону: «Возьми посох и брось его перед фараоном». Посох превратится в змею.

So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, just as the Lord commanded. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.

Моисей и Аарон пришли к фараону и сделали так, как повелел им Господь. Аарон бросил свой посох перед фараоном и его приближенными, и он превратился в змею.

But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the [b]sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their [c]enchantments.

For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

Каждый бросил свой посох, и те превратились в змей; но посох Аарона проглотил их посохи.

And Pharaoh’s heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, as the Lord had said.

Однако сердцем фараона завладело упрямство — он не послушал их, как и говорил Господь.

The First Plague: Waters Become Blood

So the Lord said to Moses: “Pharaoh’s heart is hard; he refuses to let the people go.

Тогда Господь сказал Моисею:
— Фараон упрям и отказывается отпустить народ.

15

Go to Pharaoh in the morning, when he goes out to the water, and you shall stand by the river’s bank to meet him; and the rod which was turned to a serpent you shall take in your hand.

Пойди к фараону утром, когда он выходит к реке. Возьми посох, который превращался в змею, и подожди царя Египта на берегу Нила.

16

And you shall say to him, ‘The Lord God of the Hebrews has sent me to you, saying, “Let My people go, that they may [d]serve Me in the wilderness”; but indeed, until now you would not hear!

Скажи ему: «Господь, Бог евреев, посылал меня сказать тебе: „Отпусти Мой народ поклониться Мне в пустыне“. Но до сих пор ты не слушался.

17

Thus says the Lord: “By this you shall know that I am the Lord. Behold, I will strike the waters which are in the river with the rod that is in my hand, and they shall be turned to blood.

Так говорит Господь: „Теперь ты узнаешь, что Я — Господь. Посохом, который у меня в руке, я ударю по воде Нила, и вода превратится в кровь.

18

And the fish that are in the river shall die, the river shall stink, and the Egyptians will loathe[e] to drink the water of the river.” ’ ”

Рыба в Ниле умрет, река станет зловонной, и египтяне не смогут пить из нее“».

19

Then the Lord spoke to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Take your rod and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their streams, over their rivers, over their ponds, and over all their pools of water, that they may become blood. And there shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in buckets of wood and pitchers of stone.’ ”

Господь сказал Моисею:
— Скажи Аарону: «Возьми посох и протяни руку над водами Египта — над реками и каналами, над прудами и всеми водоемами: вода в них превратится в кровь. Кровь будет в Египте повсюду, даже в деревянных и каменных сосудах».

And Moses and Aaron did so, just as the Lord commanded. So he lifted up the rod and struck the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants. And all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.

Моисей и Аарон сделали, как повелел им Господь. Аарон поднял посох на глазах у фараона и его приближенных, ударил по воде Нила, и она превратилась в кровь.

21

The fish that were in the river died, the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink the water of the river. So there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.

Рыба в Ниле умерла, и река стала такой зловонной, что египтяне не могли пить из нее. Кровь была повсюду в Египте.

Then the magicians of Egypt did so with their [f]enchantments; and Pharaoh’s heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, as the Lord had said.

Но египетские чародеи своим колдовством сделали то же самое. И сердцем фараона завладело упрямство. Он не послушал Моисея и Аарона, как и говорил Господь.

And Pharaoh turned and went into his house. Neither was his heart moved by this.

Царь Египта развернулся и ушел во дворец, даже не задумываясь об этом.

So all the Egyptians dug all around the river for water to drink, because they could not drink the water of the river.

А египтяне стали копать колодцы вдоль Нила, чтобы добыть питьевую воду. Они не могли пить из реки.

And seven days passed after the Lord had struck the river.
