Moab Destroyed

Send the lamb to the ruler of the land,
From [a]Sela to the wilderness,
To the mount of the daughter of Zion.

1

Овечки пошліть власникові землі, із Сели на пустиню, на го́ру Сіонської дочки́.

2

For it shall be as a wandering bird thrown out of the nest;
So shall be the daughters of Moab at the fords of the Arnon.

2

І станеться, мов те споло́шене пта́ство, з кубла́ повиго́нене, будуть до́чки Моавські при бро́дах Арнону:

3

“Take counsel, execute judgment;
Make your shadow like the night in the middle of the day;
Hide the outcasts,
Do not betray him who escapes.

„Подай раду, зроби при́суд, учини нічну тінь свою повного полудня, сховай ви́гнаних, біженця не видавай.

4

Let My outcasts dwell with you, O Moab;
Be a shelter to them from the face of the [b]spoiler.
For the extortioner is at an end,
Devastation ceases,
The oppressors are consumed out of the land.

Нехай ме́шкають в тебе вигна́нці Моаву, стань їм за́хистом перед грабі́жником, бо не стало наси́льника, скінчи́вся грабу́нок, загинув топта́ч із землі.

5

In mercy the throne will be established;
And One will sit on it in truth, in the tabernacle of David,
Judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness.”

І буде утве́рджений милістю трон, і сяде на ньому у правді в наметі Давида суддя́, що дбатиме за правосу́ддя та буде в справедливості вправний.

We have heard of the pride of Moab —
He is very proud —
Of his haughtiness and his pride and his wrath;
But his [c]lies shall not be so.

Ми чули про гордість Моава, що гордий він дуже, про сваво́лю його й його гордість, про лю́тість його, про неслушні його нісені́тниці“.

7

Therefore Moab shall wail for Moab;
Everyone shall wail.
For the foundations of Kir Hareseth you shall mourn;
Surely they are stricken.

Буде тому́ голоси́ти Моав над Моавом, увесь голосити він буде! За паляни́цями з грон Кір-Харесету плакати бу́дуть насправді побиті,

For the fields of Heshbon languish,
And the vine of Sibmah;
The lords of the nations have broken down its choice plants,
Which have reached to Jazer
And wandered through the wilderness.
Her branches are stretched out,
They are gone over the sea.

бо посохли хешбо́нські поля́, і виноградник Сівми; володарі наро́дів понищили гро́зна добі́рні, які до Язеру сяга́ли й зникали в пустині; галу́зки ж його розтяга́лися, і море вони перейшли́.

9

Therefore I will bewail the vine of Sibmah,
With the weeping of Jazer;
I will drench you with my tears,
O Heshbon and Elealeh;
For [d]battle cries have fallen
Over your summer fruits and your harvest.

Тому́ то язе́рським плаче́м буду плакати за виногра́дину Сівми. Сльозою своєю тебе орошу́, о Хешбо́не й Ел'а́ле, бо крик бо́ю напав на твій збір та на жни́во твоє.

Gladness is taken away,
And joy from the plentiful field;
In the vineyards there will be no singing,
Nor will there be shouting;
No treaders will tread out wine in the presses;
I have made their shouting cease.

І буде за́брана радість та втіха із са́ду, а по виноградниках пісні не бу́де й не зді́йметься окрик. Вина по чави́лах не буде топта́ти чави́льник, — окрик радости Я припини́в!

11

Therefore my [e]heart shall resound like a harp for Moab,
And my inner being for [f]Kir Heres.

Тому́ то в жало́бі звучать про Моав мої ну́трощі, мов би та арфа, а ну́тро моє — про Кір-Херес.

12

And it shall come to pass,
When it is seen that Moab is weary on the high place,
That he will come to his sanctuary to pray;
But he will not prevail.

І буде, як ви́явиться, що змучивсь на взгі́р'ї Моав, і вві́йде молитись у святиню свою, та він не ося́гне нічо́го.

13

This is the word which the Lord has spoken concerning Moab since that time.

Оце слово, яке говорив був віддавна Госпо́дь про Моава.

14

But now the Lord has spoken, saying, “Within three years, as the years of a hired man, the glory of Moab will be despised with all that great multitude, and the remnant will be very small and feeble.”

А тепер Господь каже, говорячи: За три ро́ки, одна́кові з лі́тами на́ймита, буде знева́жена слава Моава з усім велелю́ддям його, а позосталість — мала та дрібна, невелика!
