God’s People Are Comforted

“Comfort, yes, comfort My people!”
Says your God.

Потішайте, потішайте Мій народ! — говорить Бог.

“Speak [a]comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her,
That her warfare is ended,
That her iniquity is pardoned;
For she has received from the Lord’s hand
Double for all her sins.”

Священики, заговоріть до серця Єрусалима, потішайте його! Адже завершилося його впокорення, і його гріх — прощений. Адже він одержав з Господньої руки вдвоє за свої гріхи.

The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
“Prepare the way of the Lord;
Make straight [b]in the desert
A highway for our God.

Голос того, хто гукає в пустелі: Приготуйте Господню дорогу, прямими робіть стежки нашого Бога!

4

Every valley shall be exalted
And every mountain and hill brought low;
The crooked places shall be made [c]straight
And the rough places smooth;

Кожна долина наповниться, а будь-яка гора та пагорб знизиться, і все криве стане прямим, а гостре — гладкими дорогами.

The glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
And all flesh shall see it together;
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

І з’явиться Господня слава, і всяке тіло побачить Боже спасіння, бо Господь заговорив.

The voice said, “Cry out!”
And [d]he said, “What shall I cry?”
“All flesh is grass,
And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field.

Голос того, хто говорить: Закричи! І я запитав: Що кричатиму? Усяке тіло — трава, і всяка людська слава — як цвіт трави.

The grass withers, the flower fades,
Because the breath of the Lord blows upon it;
Surely the people are grass.

Засохла трава, і цвіт відпав,

The grass withers, the flower fades,
But the word of our God stands forever.”

а слово вашого Бога залишається навіки!

9

O Zion,
You who bring good tidings,
Get up into the high mountain;
O Jerusalem,
You who bring good tidings,
Lift up your voice with strength,
Lift it up, be not afraid;
Say to the cities of Judah, “Behold your God!”

Вийди на високу гору, ти, що благовістиш Сіонові! Підвищ із силою твій голос, ти, хто благовістиш Єрусалимові! Підніміть, не бійтеся! Скажи містам Юди: Ось Бог ваш!

10

Behold, the Lord God shall come [e]with a strong hand,
And His arm shall rule for Him;
Behold, His reward is with Him,
And His [f]work before Him.

Ось Господь приходить із силою, і Його рука з владою, ось Його винагорода з Ним і діло перед Ним.

11

He will feed His flock like a shepherd;
He will gather the lambs with His arm,
And carry them in His bosom,
And gently lead those who are with young.

Як пастир, Він пастиме Своє стадо і Своєю рукою Він збере ягнят, і потішить тих, які мають у лоні.

12

Who has measured the [g]waters in the hollow of His hand,
Measured heaven with a [h]span
And calculated the dust of the earth in a measure?
Weighed the mountains in scales
And the hills in a balance?

Хто виміряв рукою воду і небо долонею, і всю землю пригорщею? Хто зважив гори важками і ліси терезами?

13

Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord,
Or as His counselor has taught Him?

Хто пізнав Господній розум, і хто був Його помічником, який Його повчає?

14

With whom did He take counsel, and who instructed Him,
And taught Him in the path of justice?
Who taught Him knowledge,
And showed Him the way of understanding?

14

Чи з ким-небудь Він порадився, і той Його навчив? Чи хтось показав Йому суд? Чи хтось показав Йому дорогу розуміння?

15

Behold, the nations are as a drop in a bucket,
And are counted as the small dust on the scales;
Look, He lifts up the isles as a very little thing.

Оскільки всі народи можна порахувати за краплю води з відра і за доважок на терезах, і вважатимуться за плювок.

16

And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn,
Nor its beasts sufficient for a burnt offering.

І Лівану не вистачить для підтримання вогню, і всіх чотириногих не вистачить на всепалення для Нього,

All nations before Him are as nothing,
And they are counted by Him less than nothing and worthless.

і всі народи є як ніщо і за ніщо сприймаються.

18

To whom then will you liken God?
Or what likeness will you compare to Him?

До кого ви уподібнили Господа, і до якої подоби ви Його прирівняли?

19

The workman molds an image,
The goldsmith overspreads it with gold,
And the silversmith casts silver chains.

Хіба не митець зробив образ, який золотар, розтопивши золото, позолотив його, зробив його подобою?

20

Whoever is too impoverished for such [i]a contribution
Chooses a tree that will not rot;
He seeks for himself a skillful workman
To prepare a carved image that will not totter.

Адже столяр вибирає негниюче дерево і мудро шукає, як поставити його образ, щоб не зрушився.

21

Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
Has it not been told you from the beginning?
Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?

Хіба не зрозуміли ви? Хіба ви не чули? Чи ж вам не сповістили від початку? Хіба ви не пізнали основ землі?

22

It is He who sits above the circle of the earth,
And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers,
Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,
And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.

Він тримає круг землі, і ті, хто живе на ній, — як сарана. Він поставив небо, як покриття, і розтягнув, як намет для проживання.

23

He [j]brings the princes to nothing;
He makes the judges of the earth useless.

23

Він призначає володарів, як ніщо, щоб володіли, а землю зробив, як ніщо.

24

Scarcely shall they be planted,
Scarcely shall they be sown,
Scarcely shall their stock take root in the earth,
When He will also blow on them,
And they will wither,
And the whirlwind will take them away like stubble.

24

Бо не сіятимуть і не насадять, і на землі не вкорениться їхній корінь. Він дихнув на них, і вони висохли, і буря їх підніме, як полову.

25

“To whom then will you liken Me,
Or to whom shall I be equal?” says the Holy One.

25

Тож тепер до кого Мене уподібните, чи до чогось буду прирівняний? — сказав Святий.

26

Lift up your eyes on high,
And see who has created these things,
Who brings out their host by number;
He calls them all by name,
By the greatness of His might
And the strength of His power;
Not one is missing.

26

Погляньте на висоту вашими очима і придивіться. Хто це все виставив напоказ? Той, Хто виводить за числом Свій світ, усіх покличе по імені. Від великої слави і в силі моці нічого від Тебе не затаїлося.

27

Why do you say, O Jacob,
And speak, O Israel:
“My way is hidden from the Lord,
And my just claim is passed over by my God”?

Тож не говори, Якове, і що ти сказав, Ізраїле: Зникла моя дорога від Бога, і мій Бог відкинув суд і відступив.

28

Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.

Тепер хіба ти не зрозумів, чи не почув? Бог вічний! Бог, Який створив краї землі, не голодніє і не втомлюється, і Його розум не можна дослідити!

29

He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.

29

Він дає голодним силу і не засмученим — смуток.

30

Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,

30

Адже молоді голодуватимуть, і юнаки втомляться, і вибрані будуть безсилі.

31

But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

31

А ті, хто очікує Бога, одягнуться в силу, відростять крила, як орли, вони бігатимуть і не потомляться, ходитимуть і не зголодніють.
