Isaiah Called to Be a Prophet

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.

І сталося в рік, коли помер цар Озія, я побачив Господа, Який сидів на високому і піднесеному престолі, і дім, сповнений Його слави.

Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.

І серафими стояли довкола Нього, шість крил в одного і шість крил у другого: двома вони покривали обличчя, двома покривали ноги і двома літали.

And one cried to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
The whole earth is full of His glory!”

І вони вигукували один до другого, і казали: Святий, святий, святий Господь Саваот! Уся земля наповнена Твоєю славою!

And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.

І від голосу, яким вони гукали, піднялися одвірки, і дім наповнився димом.

So I said:
“Woe is me, for I am [a]undone!
Because I am a man of unclean lips,
And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips;
For my eyes have seen the King,
The Lord of hosts.”

І я сказав: О, я нещасний, бо я уражений, адже, будучи людиною і маючи нечисті уста, і я живу посеред народу, який має нечисті уста, та я на власні очі побачив Господа, царя Саваота.

Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar.

І до мене був посланий один із серафимів, і він мав у руці вугілля, яке взяв щипцями з жертовника,

And he touched my mouth with it, and said:
“Behold, this has touched your lips;
Your iniquity is taken away,
And your sin [b]purged.”

і доторкнувся до моїх уст, кажучи: Ось це доторкнулося до твоїх губ і забере твої беззаконня, і очистить твої гріхи!

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:
“Whom shall I send,
And who will go for Us?”
Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

І я почув голос Господа, Який промовляв: Кого пошлю, і хто піде до цього народу? І я сказав: Ось я! Пошли мене!

And He said, “Go, and tell this people:
‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand;
Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’

А Він промовив: Піди і скажи цьому народові: Ви будете слухати й слухати [1] , та не зрозумієте, будете дивитися й дивитися [2] , та не побачите!

“Make the heart of this people dull,
And their ears heavy,
And shut their eyes;
Lest they see with their eyes,
And hear with their ears,
And understand with their heart,
And return and be healed.”

Адже розтовстіло серце цього народу, і своїми вухами тяжко чують, і прижмурили свої очі, щоби часом не побачили очима, не почули вухами, не зрозуміли серцем і не навернулися, — щоб я їх не оздоровив.

Then I said, “Lord, how long?”
And He answered:
“Until the cities are laid waste and without inhabitant,
The houses are without a man,
The land is utterly desolate,

І я запитав: Аж доки, Господи? А Він сказав: Аж доки не будуть спустошені міста, щоб не були заселені, і доми, щоб не було людей, і земля залишиться пусткою.

The Lord has removed men far away,
And the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land.

І після цього Бог відішле далеко людей, а ті, хто залишився на тій землі, розмножаться.

13

But yet a tenth will be in it,
And will return and be for consuming,
As a terebinth tree or as an oak,
Whose stump remains when it is cut down.
So the holy seed shall be its stump.”

І ще є на ній десята частина, і знову буде на пограбування, як модрина і як жолудь, коли відпаде від своєї шляпки.
