Restoration of Israel and Judah

The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,

1

Слово, що було до Єремії від Господа, гово́рячи:

“Thus speaks the Lord God of Israel, saying: ‘Write in a book for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you.

„Так говорить Господь, Бог Ізраїлів, кажучи: Напиши собі всі ті слова́, що тобі говорив Я, до книги.

3

For behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘that I will bring back from captivity My people Israel and Judah,’ says the Lord. ‘And I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.’ ”

Бо прихо́дять ось дні, — говорить Господь, — і Я верну́ народ Мій Ізраїлів та Юдин, — каже Господь, — і верну́ їх до Кра́ю, що їхнім батька́м Я був дав, і вони пося́дуть його.

Now these are the words that the Lord spoke concerning Israel and Judah.

А оце ті слова, що Господь говорив про Ізраїля й Юду:

“For thus says the Lord:
‘We have heard a voice of trembling,
Of [a]fear, and not of peace.

5

Бо так промовляє Госпо́дь: Почули ми голос страху, переля́ку, й немає споко́ю.

6

Ask now, and see,
Whether a [b]man is ever in [c]labor with child?
So why do I see every man with his hands on his loins
Like a woman in labor,
And all faces turned pale?

Запитайте й побачте, чи родить мужчи́на? Чому́ ж це Я бачу, що в кожного мужа он ру́ки його — на сте́гнах його, немов у породі́ллі, і всяке обличчя поблідло?

7

Alas! For that day is great,
So that none is like it;
And it is the time of Jacob’s trouble,
But he shall be saved out of it.

Ой горе, бо це день великий, — немає такого, як він! А це час недолі для Якова, та з нього він бу́де врято́ваний!

8

‘For it shall come to pass in that day,’
Says the Lord of hosts,
‘That I will break his yoke from your neck,
And will burst your bonds;
Foreigners shall no more enslave them.

І буде в той день, — говорить Господь Савао́т, — поламаю ярмо Я із шиї твоєї, а пу́та твої розірву́, — і не будуть чужі понево́лювати більше його!

9

But they shall serve the Lord their God,
And David their king,
Whom I will raise up for them.

9

І будуть служити вони тільки Господеві, Богові своє́му, і цареві своєму Давидові, якого поста́влю Я їм.

10

‘Therefore do not fear, O My servant Jacob,’ says the Lord,
‘Nor be dismayed, O Israel;
For behold, I will save you from afar,
And your seed from the land of their captivity.
Jacob shall return, have rest and be quiet,
And no one shall make him afraid.

А ти не лякайся, рабе Мій Якове, — каже Госпо́дь, — і не страши́ся, Ізраїлю, бо Я ось врятую тебе із далекого кра́ю, і наща́дків твоїх — з краю їхнього полону́! І ве́рнеться Яків, і буде спокійний, і буде безпе́чний, і не буде того́, хто б його настраши́в,

For I am with you,’ says the Lord, ‘to save you;
Though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you,
Yet I will not make a complete end of you.
But I will correct you in justice,
And will not let you go altogether unpunished.’

бо Я із тобою, — говорить Господь, — щоб спаса́ти тебе! Бо зроблю́ Я кінець всім наро́дам, між якими тебе розпоро́шив, та з тобою кінця́ не зроблю́, і тебе покараю за правом, бо не поли́шу тебе непокараним!

12

“For thus says the Lord:
‘Your affliction is incurable,
Your wound is severe.

Бо так промовляє Господь: Невиліча́льна пораза твоя, рана твоя невиго́йна!

13

There is no one to plead your cause,
That you may be bound up;
You have no healing medicines.

13

Немає того, хто б справу твою́ розсудив для твоєї боля́чки, нема в тебе ліків таких, щоб над раною м'ясо зросло́!

14

All your lovers have forgotten you;
They do not seek you;
For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy,
With the chastisement of a cruel one,
For the multitude of your iniquities,
Because your sins have increased.

Забу́ли про тебе всі дру́зі твої, до тебе вони не зверта́ються, — бо ворожим уда́ром Я вра́зив тебе, жорстокою карою за числе́нні провини твої, за те, що зміцніли гріхи́ твої.

15

Why do you cry about your affliction?
Your sorrow is incurable.
Because of the multitude of your iniquities,
Because your sins have increased,
I have done these things to you.

15

Чого ти кричиш про пора́зу свою, про свій біль невиго́йний? За числе́нні твої беззако́нства, за те, що зміцні́ли гріхи́ твої, Я зробив тобі це.

16

‘Therefore all those who devour you shall be devoured;
And all your adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity;
Those who plunder you shall become plunder,
And all who prey upon you I will make a prey.

Тому всі, що тебе поїдають, поїджені бу́дуть, а всі вороги твої — всі вони пі́дуть в поло́н, і стануть здо́биччю ті, хто тебе обдирає, а всіх, хто грабує тебе, на грабу́нок віддам!

17

For I will restore health to you
And heal you of your wounds,’ says the Lord,
‘Because they called you an outcast saying:
“This is Zion;
No one seeks her.” ’

17

Бо ви́рощу шкурку на рані тобі, і з пора́з тебе вилікую, — говорить Госпо́дь, — бо „відкинута“ зва́но тебе, ти, Сіонська дочка́, „якої ніхто не шукає“.

18

“Thus says the Lord:
‘Behold, I will bring back the captivity of Jacob’s tents,
And have mercy on his dwelling places;
The city shall be built upon its own [d]mound,
And the palace shall remain according to its own plan.

Так говорить Господь: Ось Я поверну́ з полону шатра Яковові, і зми́луюся над місцями його пробува́ння, — і на пагі́рку своїм побуду́ється місто, а па́лац ося́деться на відповідному місці своїм.

19

Then out of them shall proceed thanksgiving
And the voice of those who make merry;
I will multiply them, and they shall not diminish;
I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.

19

І ви́йде подяка із них та голос радіючих, і Я їх помно́жу, — і не буде їх мало, і просла́влю Я їх — і не будуть прини́жені!

20

Their children also shall be as before,
And their congregation shall be established before Me;
And I will punish all who oppress them.

20

І сини його стануть, як перше, а збір його буде міцни́й перед лицем Моїм, і Я покараю всіх тих, хто його переслідує!

21

Their nobles shall be from among them,
And their governor shall come from their midst;
Then I will cause him to draw near,
And he shall approach Me;
For who is this who pledged his heart to approach Me?’ says the Lord.

І буде із нього Поту́жний його, і поста́не Воло́дар його́ з-поміж ньо́го, й Я набли́жу Його, — й Він піді́йде до Мене! Бо хто є такий, що нара́зить життя своє на небезпе́ку, щоб до Мене набли́зитись? каже Госпо́дь.

22

‘You shall be My people,
And I will be your God.’ ”

22

І станете ви наро́дом Мені, а Я буду вам Богом!

23

Behold, the whirlwind of the Lord
Goes forth with fury,
A [e]continuing whirlwind;
It will fall violently on the head of the wicked.

23

Ось буря Господня, лютість вихо́дить, а вихор крутли́вий на голову безбожних упаде́.

24

The fierce anger of the Lord will not return until He has done it,
And until He has performed the intents of His heart.
In the latter days you will consider it.

24

Не спи́ниться по́лум 'я гніву Господнього, поки Свого не зробить, і поки не ви́конає за́мірів серця Свого́, — ви напри́кінці дні́в зрозумієте це́!
