Excellence of the Restored Nation

Moreover the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah a second time, while he was still shut up in the court of the prison, saying,

У володінні царя Йоакима, сина Йосії, було це слово від Господа:

“Thus says the Lord who made it, the Lord who formed it to establish it (the[a] Lord is His name):

Так сказав Господь: Стань у дворі Господнього дому і скажеш усім юдеям, що приходять поклонитися в Господньому домі, усі слова, які Я тобі заповів їм сказати, не віднімеш жодного слова.

3

‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and [b]mighty things, which you do not know.’

Може послухають і відвернуться — кожний зі своєї поганої дороги, і спинюся від зла, яке Я замислюю їм зробити через зло їхніх задумів.

4

“For thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city and the houses of the kings of Judah, which have been pulled down to fortify against the siege mounds and the sword:

І скажеш: Так сказав Господь: Якщо Мене не послухаєте, щоб ходити в Моїх заповідях, які Я дав перед вашим обличчям,

‘They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but only to fill their places with the dead bodies of men whom I will slay in My anger and My fury, all for whose wickedness I have hidden My face from this city.

щоб послухати слова Моїх рабів-пророків, яких Я посилаю до вас вдосвіта, і Я послав, та ви Мене не вислухали,

Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.

і дам цей дім, як Силом, і місто дам на прокляття всім народам усієї землі.

7

And I will cause the captives of Judah and the captives of Israel to return, and will rebuild those places as at the first.

І почули священики та фальшиві пророки і весь народ, як Єремія говорив ці слова в Господньому домі.

8

I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned against Me, and I will pardon all their iniquities by which they have sinned and by which they have transgressed against Me.

8

І сталося, як Єремія перестав говорити все, що йому заповів Господь сказати всьому народові, то схопили його священики, фальшиві пророки і весь народ, кажучи: Нехай неодмінно помре [1]!

9

Then it shall be to Me a name of joy, a praise, and an honor before all nations of the earth, who shall hear all the good that I do to them; they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and all the prosperity that I provide for it.’

Тому що ти пророкував Господнім Іменем, кажучи: Так, як Силом, буде цей дім, і це місто опустіє від жильців. І весь народ зібрався проти Єремії в Господньому домі.

“Thus says the Lord: ‘Again there shall be heard in this place — of which you say, “It is desolate, without man and without beast” — in the cities of Judah, in the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without beast,

І володарі Юди почули це слово, і прийшли з дому царя до Господнього дому, і сіли при вході до нової брами Господнього дому.

11

the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who will say:
“Praise the Lord of hosts,
For the Lord is good,
For His mercy endures forever” —
and of those who will bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the Lord. For I will cause the captives of the land to return as at the first,’ says the Lord.

І сказали священики та фальшиві пророки до володарів та до всього народу: Засудження смерті для цього чоловіка, бо він пророкував проти цього міста, як ви і почули вашими вухами.

12

“Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘In this place which is desolate, without man and without beast, and in all its cities, there shall again be a dwelling place of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.

І промовив Єремія до володарів і до всього народу, кажучи: Господь мене послав пророкувати проти цього дому і проти цього міста всі слова, які ви почули.

13

In the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the lowland, in the cities of the South, in the land of Benjamin, in the places around Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, the flocks shall again pass under the hands of him who counts them,’ says the Lord.

А тепер зробіть кращими ваші дороги та ваші діла і послухайтеся голосу Господа, і Господь стримається від зла, яке Він виказав проти вас.

14

‘Behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘that I will perform that good thing which I have promised to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah:

І ось я у ваших руках. Зробіть зі мною, як вважаєте за потрібне і як вам краще.

15

‘In those days and at that time
I will cause to grow up to David
A Branch of righteousness;
He shall execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.

15

Але лиш достеменно знайте [2] , що коли мене вб’єте, то даєте невинну кров на вас, на це місто і на тих, що в ньому живуть. Адже по правді мене послав Господь до вас промовляти до ваших вух усі ці слова.

16

In those days Judah will be saved,
And Jerusalem will dwell safely.
And this is the name by which she will be called:
[c]THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.’

І сказали володарі та весь народ священикам і фальшивим пророкам: Немає для цього чоловіка засудження смерті, бо він заговорив до нас Іменем нашого Господа Бога.

17

“For thus says the Lord: ‘David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel;

17

І встали мужі зі старійшин землі, і сказали всьому зборові народу:

18

nor shall the priests, the Levites, lack a man to offer burnt offerings before Me, to [d]kindle grain offerings, and to sacrifice continually.’ ”

18

У дні Езекії, царя Юди, був Міхея, моратієць, і він сказав усьому народові Юди: Так сказав Господь: Сіон буде зораний, як поле, і Єрусалим буде непрохідним, а гора дому — лісовим гаєм!

19

The Permanence of God’s Covenant

And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,

Хіба справді вигубив [3] його Езекія і весь Юда? Чи не злякалися Господа і не помолилися до Господнього обличчя, і стримався Господь від зла, яке вимовив на них? І ми зробили велике зло проти наших душ.

20

“Thus says the Lord: ‘If you can break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night, so that there will not be day and night in their season,

І була людина, що пророкувала Господнім Іменем, — Урія, син Самея з Каріятіяріма, і він пророкував про цю землю згідно з усіма словами Єремії.

21

then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levites, the priests, My ministers.

21

І почув цар Йоаким і всі володарі всі його слова, і шукали його вбити, та Урія почув і пішов до Єгипту.

22

As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, nor the sand of the sea measured, so will I multiply the descendants of David My servant and the Levites who minister to Me.’ ”

І цар послав мужів у Єгипет,

Moreover the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,

і вивели його звідти, і ввели його до царя, і він побив його мечем та кинув його до гробниці синів його народу.

24

“Have you not considered what these people have spoken, saying, ‘The two families which the Lord has chosen, He has also cast them off’? Thus they have despised My people, as if they should no more be a nation before them.

24

Лише рука Ахікама, сина Сафана, була з Єремією, щоби його не видати в руки народу, аби його не погубити.
