God’s Continuing Love for Israel

“When Israel was a [a]child, I loved him,
And out of Egypt I called My son.

Тому що Ізраїль — дитина, і Я його полюбив, то з Єгипту Я покликав його дітей.

[b]As they called them,
So they went [c]from them;
They sacrificed to the Baals,
And burned incense to carved images.

Так, як Я їх покликав, так відходили від Мого обличчя. Вони приносили жертви Ваалам і кадили ладан кованим божкам.

“I taught Ephraim to walk,
Taking them by [d]their arms;
But they did not know that I healed them.

Я зв’язав Єфрема, Я взяв його на Мою руку, та вони не пізнали, що Я їх оздоровив.

I drew them with [e]gentle cords,
With bands of love,
And I was to them as those who take the yoke from their [f]neck.
I stooped and fed them.

У тлінні людей Я їх притягав пов’язями Моєї любові, та буду їм, наче той чоловік, що б’є когось по його щоках. І погляну на нього, здолаю його.

“He shall not return to the land of Egypt;
But the Assyrian shall be his king,
Because they refused to repent.

Єфрем поселився в Єгипті, Ассур — він його цар, бо не забажав повернутися.

And the sword shall slash in his cities,
Devour his districts,
And consume them,
Because of their own counsels.

І знеміг меч у його містах і спочив у його руках, тож їстимуть за їхніми задумами.

My people are bent on backsliding from Me.
Though [g]they call [h]to the Most High,
None at all exalt Him.

І його народ пристав до своїх поселень, і Бог розлютиться на його шановані речі, і не підніме його.

“How can I give you up, Ephraim?
How can I hand you over, Israel?
How can I make you like Admah?
How can I set you like Zeboiim?
My heart [i]churns within Me;
My sympathy is stirred.

Що тобі припишу, Єфреме? Чи обороню тебе, Ізраїле? Що тобі припишу? Чи поставлю тебе, як Адаму і як Севоїм? Моє серце повернулося в собі, затривожилося Моє розкаяння.

I will not execute the fierceness of My anger;
I will not again destroy Ephraim.
For I am God, and not man,
The Holy One in your midst;
And I will not [j]come with terror.

Не вчиню за гнівом Моєї люті, не дозволю вигубити Єфрема. Тому що Я — Бог, а не людина. Посеред тебе Святий, і не ввійду до міста.

“They shall walk after the Lord.
He will roar like a lion.
When He roars,
Then His sons shall come trembling from the west;

Піду за Господом. Наче лев, зареве, бо він зареве, і жахнуться діти вод.

They shall come trembling like a bird from Egypt,
Like a dove from the land of Assyria.
And I will let them dwell in their houses,”
Says the Lord.

І жахнуться, як птах із Єгипту і як голубка із землі ассирійців. І поверну їх до їхніх домів, — говорить Господь.
