The Lord’s Love for His Unfaithful People

Say to your brethren, [a]‘My people,’
And to your sisters, [b]‘Mercy is shown.’

1

Кількість синів Ізраїля була, немов морського піску, якого не можна ні виміряти, ні полічити, і буде, що на місці, де їм сказано: Ви — Не Мій народ, вони ж будуть прозвані синами живого Бога.

God’s Unfaithful People

“Bring[c] charges against your mother, [d]bring charges;
For she is not My wife, nor am I her Husband!
Let her put away her harlotries from her sight,
And her adulteries from between her breasts;

І зібрані будуть разом сини Юди і сини Ізраїля, поставлять собі одну владу і підуть із землі, бо великий день Єзраела.

3

Lest I strip her naked
And expose her, as in the day she was born,
And make her like a wilderness,
And set her like a dry land,
And slay her with thirst.

Скажіть вашому братові: Мій народ, — і вашій сестрі: Помилувана.

4

“I will not have mercy on her children,
For they are the children of harlotry.

Судіться з вашою матір’ю, судіться, бо вона — не Моя жінка, і Я — не її чоловік! І вигублю її розпусту з-перед Свого обличчя та її перелюб з-посеред її грудей,

For their mother has played the harlot;
She who conceived them has behaved shamefully.
For she said, ‘I will go after my lovers,
Who give me my bread and my water,
My wool and my linen,
My oil and my drink.’

щоб повністю її роздягнути до наготи і поставити її такою, як у день її народження. І її поставлю, як пустелю, і зроблю її, наче безводну землю, і погублю її спрагою.

“Therefore, behold,
I will hedge up your way with thorns,
And [e]wall her in,
So that she cannot find her paths.

І не помилую її дітей, бо вони — діти розпусти.

7

She will [f]chase her lovers,
But not overtake them;
Yes, she will seek them, but not find them.
Then she will say,
‘I will go and return to my first husband,
For then it was better for me than now.’

Адже їхня матір чинила розпусту, засоромила та, що їх народила. Бо вона сказала: Піду за моїми любовниками, тими, що дали мені мій хліб, мою воду, мій одяг, мій льняний одяг, мою олію і все, що мені потрібне.

For she did not know
That I gave her grain, new wine, and oil,
And multiplied her silver and gold —
Which they prepared for Baal.

Через це ось Я перегороджую її дорогу терням і забудую її дороги, і вона не знайде своєї стежки.

9

“Therefore I will return and take away
My grain in its time
And My new wine in its season,
And will take back My wool and My linen,
Given to cover her nakedness.

Вона гнатиметься за своїми любовниками, та не дожене їх. Шукатиме за ними, та їх не знайде. І скаже: Піду і повернуся до мого першого чоловіка, бо мені тоді було краще, ніж тепер!

10

Now I will uncover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers,
And no one shall deliver her from My hand.

І вона не взнала, що Я дав їй пшеницю, вино та олію, і помножив для неї срібло. Вона ж зробила Ваалові срібне і золоте.

11

I will also cause all her mirth to cease,
Her feast days,
Her New Moons,
Her Sabbaths —
All her appointed feasts.

Через це повернуся і заберу Мої своєчасні врожаї пшениці та Моє вино у свою пору, заберу Мій одяг, Мій льняний одяг, щоб вона не прикрила свій сором.

12

“And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees,
Of which she has said,
‘These are my wages that my lovers have given me.’
So I will make them a forest,
And the beasts of the field shall eat them.

Тепер же відкрию її нечистоту перед її любовниками, і ніхто її не забере з Моєї руки.

13

I will punish her
For the days of the Baals to which she burned incense.
She decked herself with her earrings and jewelry,
And went after her lovers;
But Me she forgot,” says the Lord.

І відверну всі її радощі, її свята, нові місяці, її суботи та всі її свята.

14

God’s Mercy on His People

“Therefore, behold, I will allure her,
Will bring her into the wilderness,
And speak [g]comfort to her.

14

І знищу її виноградник та її смоківниці, про які сказала: Це моя винагорода, яку мені дали мої любовники! Тож поставлю це на свідчення, і це пожеруть звірі поля, птахи неба і плазуни землі.

15

I will give her her vineyards from there,
And the Valley of Achor as a door of hope;
She shall sing there,
As in the days of her youth,
As in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt.

І помщуся на ній за дні Ваалів, в які вона їм кадила і одягала свої сережки та свої ланцюжки, і вона ходила за своїми любовниками, а Мене забула, — говорить Господь.

16

“And it shall be, in that day,”
Says the Lord,
“That you will call Me [h]‘My Husband,’
And no longer call Me [i]‘My Master,’

Через це ось Я дам їй заблукати, приведу її в пустелю та заговорю до її серця,

17

For I will take from her mouth the names of the Baals,
And they shall be remembered by their name no more.

і там дам їй її посілість і долину Ахора, щоб відкрити її розум, і вона там буде впокорена за днями своєї молодості і за днями її приходу з єгипетської землі.

18

In that day I will make a covenant for them
With the beasts of the field,
With the birds of the air,
And with the creeping things of the ground.
Bow and sword of battle I will shatter from the earth,
To make them lie down safely.

І буде, що в той день, — говорить Господь, — вона назве Мене: Мій чоловік! І більше вона не назве Мене Ваалами,

19

“I will betroth you to Me forever;
Yes, I will betroth you to Me
In righteousness and justice,
In lovingkindness and mercy;

19

і вигублю імена Ваалів з її уст, і їхні імена більше не згадаються.

20

I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness,
And you shall know the Lord.

20

Я складу для них завіт у той день зі звірами поля, з птахами неба і з плазунами землі. Лук, меч і війну розіб’ю в землі й поселю тебе у впевненості.

21

“It shall come to pass in that day
That I will answer,” says the Lord;
“I will answer the heavens,
And they shall answer the earth.

21

Візьму Собі тебе навіки і візьму Собі тебе в праведності, у суді, у милосерді та в щедрості,

22

The earth shall answer
With grain,
With new wine,
And with oil;
They shall answer [j]Jezreel.

22

і візьму Собі тебе у вірі, і ти пізнаєш Господа.

23

Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth,
And I will have mercy on her who had [k]not obtained mercy;
Then I will say to those who were [l]not My people,
‘You are [m]My people!’
And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’ ”
