A Call to Repentance

In the eighth month of the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,

“The Lord has been very angry with your fathers.

— Господь сильно прогневался на ваших предков.

Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Return to Me,” says the Lord of hosts, “and I will return to you,” says the Lord of hosts.

Скажи же народу: «Так говорит Господь Сил2: Вернитесь ко Мне, — возвещает Господь Сил, — и Я вернусь к вам, — говорит Господь Сил. —

4

“Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets preached, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Turn now from your evil ways and your evil deeds.” ’ But they did not hear nor heed Me,” says the Lord.

Не будьте как ваши предки, к которым взывали прежние пророки: „Так говорит Господь Сил: Оставьте свои злые пути и скверные обычаи“, а они не слушали и не внимали Мне, — возвещает Господь. —

“Your fathers, where are they?
And the prophets, do they live forever?

Где теперь ваши предки? И разве вечно живут пророки?

Yet surely My words and My statutes,
Which I commanded My servants the prophets,
Did they not overtake your fathers?
“So they returned and said:
‘Just as the Lord of hosts determined to do to us,
According to our ways and according to our deeds,
So He has dealt with us.’ ” ’ ”

Но Мои слова и установления, которые Я вручил Моим слугам, пророкам, разве не исполнились над вашими предками? Они тогда покаялись и сказали: „Господь Сил поступил с нами так, как мы заслужили своими путями и делами, — как Он определил, так и поступил“».

Vision of the Horses

On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet:

В двадцать четвертый день одиннадцатого месяца, месяца шевата, на втором году правления Дария,3 было слово Господне к пророку Захарии, сыну Берехии, внуку Иддо.

I saw by night, and behold, a man riding on a red horse, and it stood among the myrtle trees in the hollow; and behind him were horses: red, sorrel, and white.

Ночью мне было видение: смотрю, передо мной Некто на рыжем коне. Он стоял среди миртов,4 что в горной долине; позади Него — рыжие, гнедые и белые кони.

Then I said, “My lord, what are these?” So the angel who talked with me said to me, “I will show you what they are.”

Я спросил:
— Что это значит, мой Господин?
И Ангел, Который говорил со мной, сказал:
— Я покажу тебе, что это значит.

And the man who stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, “These are the ones whom the Lord has sent to walk to and fro throughout the earth.”

Тот, Кто стоял среди миртов, ответил:
— Это те, кого Господь послал пройти по земле дозором.

So they answered the Angel of the Lord, who stood among the myrtle trees, and said, “We have walked to and fro throughout the earth, and behold, all the earth is [a]resting quietly.”

И они сказали Ангелу Господа,5 Который стоял среди миртов:
— Мы прошли по земле дозором — на всей земле покой и мир.

The Lord Will Comfort Zion

Then the Angel of the Lord answered and said, “O Lord of hosts, how long will You not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which You were angry these seventy years?”

Тогда Ангел Господень сказал:
— Господи Сил, до каких пор Ты будешь отказывать в милости Иерусалиму и городам Иуды, на которые Ты гневаешься вот уже семьдесят лет?

And the Lord answered the angel who talked to me, with good and comforting words.

И Господь отвечал добрыми и утешительными словами Ангелу, говорившему со мной.

So the angel who spoke with me said to me, [b]“Proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts:
“I am zealous[c] for Jerusalem
And for Zion with great [d]zeal.

Тогда Ангел, Который говорил со мной, сказал мне:
— Вот что ты должен возвестить: «Так говорит Господь Сил: Крепко возревновал Я об Иерусалиме и Сионе,6

I am exceedingly angry with the nations at ease;
For I was a little angry,
And they helped — but with evil intent.”

а на народы, живущие в покое, Я страшно разгневан. Тогда как Я лишь немного гневался на Мой народ, они без меры обрушили на него бедствие.

‘Therefore thus says the Lord:
“I am returning to Jerusalem with mercy;
My house shall be built in it,” says the Lord of hosts,
“And a surveyor’s line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.” ’

Поэтому так говорит Господь: Я вернусь в Иерусалим с состраданием, и Мой дом там будет отстроен, — возвещает Господь Сил, — и протянется над Иерусалимом землемерная нить».7

“Again proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts:
“My cities shall again [e]spread out through prosperity;
The Lord will again comfort Zion,
And will again choose Jerusalem.” ’ ”

Еще провозгласи: «Так говорит Господь Сил: Снова переполнятся изобилием Мои города, и вновь Господь утешит Сион и изберет Иерусалим».

Vision of the Horns

Then I raised my eyes and looked, and there were four horns.

Я поднял глаза и вижу: передо мной четыре рога.8

19

And I said to the angel who talked with me, “What are these?”
So he answered me, “These are the [f]horns that have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.”

Я спросил Ангела, Который говорил со мной:
— Что это?
Он ответил:
— Это рога, которые разметали Иудею, Израиль и Иерусалим.

20

Then the Lord showed me four craftsmen.

Затем Господь показал мне четверых кузнецов.

21

And I said, “What are these coming to do?”
So he said, “These are the horns that scattered Judah, so that no one could lift up his head; but [g]the craftsmen are coming to terrify them, to cast out the horns of the nations that lifted up their horn against the land of Judah to scatter it.”

— Что они собираются делать?
Он ответил:
— Этими рогами народы разметали Иудею так, что никто не мог поднять своей головы, а кузнецы пришли нагнать на них страх и сбить им рога, которые они подняли против земли Иудеи, чтобы разметать ее народ.
