A Call to Repentance

In the eighth month of the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,

Захария, сын Варахиин, внук Адды, получил слово Господнее. Это произошло в восьмой месяц второго года правления персидского царя Дария. Вот это послание:

“The Lord has been very angry with your fathers.

Господь очень прогневался на твоих предков.

Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Return to Me,” says the Lord of hosts, “and I will return to you,” says the Lord of hosts.

Поэтому ты должен сказать этим людям вот что: "Господь говорит: "Вернитесь ко Мне, и Я обращусь к вам"". Так сказал Господь.

“Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets preached, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Turn now from your evil ways and your evil deeds.” ’ But they did not hear nor heed Me,” says the Lord.

Господь сказал: "Не будьте такими, как ваши предки. В прошлом пророки взывали к ним и говорили, что Всемогущий Господь хочет, чтобы они изменили свою грешную жизнь и прекратили творить зло. Но предки твои не послушали Меня и не обратили никакого внимания на Мои слова". Так говорит Господь.

“Your fathers, where are they?
And the prophets, do they live forever?

"Где же теперь твои прадеды? Твои предки умерли, да и пророки те не жили вечно.

Yet surely My words and My statutes,
Which I commanded My servants the prophets,
Did they not overtake your fathers?
“So they returned and said:
‘Just as the Lord of hosts determined to do to us,
According to our ways and according to our deeds,
So He has dealt with us.’ ” ’ ”

Пророки были Моими слугами, и Я велел им рассказать вашим предкам о Моих законах и учениях. В конце концов они покаялись и сказали: "Господь Всемогущий сделал так, как сказал. Мы сделали много плохого, и Он наказал нас за это". И они вернулись к Богу".

Vision of the Horses

On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet:

На двадцать четвёртый день одиннадцатого месяца (это месяц Шеват) второго года правления царя Персии Дария к пророку Захарии пришло ещё одно слово Господа. Вот оно:

I saw by night, and behold, a man riding on a red horse, and it stood among the myrtle trees in the hollow; and behind him were horses: red, sorrel, and white.

Видел я ночью человека, скачущего на рыжем коне. В долине он остановился среди миртовых кустов, а позади него были рыжие, бурые и белые лошади.

Then I said, “My lord, what are these?” So the angel who talked with me said to me, “I will show you what they are.”

"Для чего стоят здесь эти лошади, господин мой?" — спросил я. Тогда Ангел, говоривший со мной, сказал: "Я покажу тебе, почему они здесь".

10

And the man who stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, “These are the ones whom the Lord has sent to walk to and fro throughout the earth.”

И тот человек, стоящий среди миртовых кустов, сказал: "Господь послал этих лошадей обойти землю".

11

So they answered the Angel of the Lord, who stood among the myrtle trees, and said, “We have walked to and fro throughout the earth, and behold, all the earth is [a]resting quietly.”

И заговорили лошади с Ангелом Господним, стоящим среди кустов. "Мы обошли землю, всё тихо и спокойно", — сказали они.

The Lord Will Comfort Zion

Then the Angel of the Lord answered and said, “O Lord of hosts, how long will You not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which You were angry these seventy years?”

Тогда Ангел Господа сказал: "Всемогущий Господь, долго ли ещё Ты не будешь проявлять милости Своей к Иерусалиму и к городам Иудеи? Ты гневаешься на них вот уже 70 лет".

And the Lord answered the angel who talked to me, with good and comforting words.

И ответил Господь Ангелу, который говорил со мной. Господь сказал добрые, утешительные слова.

So the angel who spoke with me said to me, [b]“Proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts:
“I am zealous[c] for Jerusalem
And for Zion with great [d]zeal.

И тогда Ангел велел мне передать людям такие слова: Всемогущий Господь говорит: "Я сильную любовь питаю к Иерусалиму и Сиону.

15

I am exceedingly angry with the nations at ease;
For I was a little angry,
And they helped — but with evil intent.”

И негодую на народы, которые живут в покое. Я, рассердившись, их избрал, чтоб наказать народ Мой. Они же нанесли ущерба слишком много".

16

‘Therefore thus says the Lord:
“I am returning to Jerusalem with mercy;
My house shall be built in it,” says the Lord of hosts,
“And a surveyor’s line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.” ’

Тогда сказал Господь: "В Иерусалим вернусь Я и город успокою". Всемогущий Господь сказал: "Вновь Иерусалим поднимется, и дом Мой будет там воздвигнут".

“Again proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts:
“My cities shall again [e]spread out through prosperity;
The Lord will again comfort Zion,
And will again choose Jerusalem.” ’ ”

И сказал Ангел: Скажи людям, что говорит Господь Всемогущий: "Мои города будут снова богаты. Я утешу Сион и снова изберу Иерусалим Своим городом".

Vision of the Horns

Then I raised my eyes and looked, and there were four horns.

Затем я поднял глаза и увидел четыре рога.

19

And I said to the angel who talked with me, “What are these?”
So he answered me, “These are the [f]horns that have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.”

Тогда я спросил Ангела, говорившего со мной: "Что означают эти роги?" И он ответил мне: "Это роги, которые вынудили народ Израиля, Иудеи и Иерусалима уйти в чужие страны".

20

Then the Lord showed me four craftsmen.

А потом показал мне Господь четырёх ремесленников,

And I said, “What are these coming to do?”
So he said, “These are the horns that scattered Judah, so that no one could lift up his head; but [g]the craftsmen are coming to terrify them, to cast out the horns of the nations that lifted up their horn against the land of Judah to scatter it.”

и я спросил Господа: "Что они будут здесь делать?" А Он ответил: "Эти люди пришли, чтобы разбить роги. Роги эти представляют народы, которые напали на народ Иуды и вынудили его уйти в чужие страны, и никому не было пощады. Но четыре ремесленника пришли, чтобы устрашить и сбросить эти роги с народов".
