Jerusalem, Holy City of the Future

Again the word of the Lord of hosts came, saying,

1

І було мені слово Господнє таке:

“Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘I am [a]zealous for Zion with great [b]zeal;
With great [c]fervor I am zealous for her.’

„Так говорить Господь Саваот: За́здрю Я за Сіон великою за́здрістю, і великою ревністю Я за́здрю за нього.

3

“Thus says the Lord:
‘I will return to Zion,
And dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.
Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth,
The Mountain of the Lord of hosts,
The Holy Mountain.’

Так говорить Господь: Вернуся Я до Сіону, і буду пробува́ти в сере́дині Єрусалиму, і буде зватися Єрусалим „Містом Правди“, а гора Господа Саваота — „горою святою“.

4

“Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Old men and old women shall again sit
In the streets of Jerusalem,
Each one with his staff in his hand
Because of [d]great age.

Так говорить Госпо́дь Савао́т: Ще бу́дуть сидіти на єрусалимських майда́нах діди́ та баби́, і кожен з па́лицею в своїй руці через довгий вік.

5

The streets of the city
Shall be full of boys and girls
Playing in its streets.’

А міські́ майда́ни будуть перепо́внені хло́пцями та дівча́тами, що будуть ба́витися на майда́нах його.

“Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘If it is [e]marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days,
Will it also be marvelous in My eyes?’
Says the Lord of hosts.

Так говорить Господь Саваот: Коли дивне це в оча́х останку наро́ду цього́ за цих днів, чи ж воно буде дивне в оча́х Моїх? промовляє Госпо́дь Савао́т.

7

“Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Behold, I will save My people from the land of the [f]east
And from the land of the [g]west;

Так говорить Господь Саваот: Ото Я спасу́ Свій наро́д із схі́днього кра́ю та з кра́ю за́ходу сонця.

8

I will bring them back,
And they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.
They shall be My people
And I will be their God,
In truth and righteousness.’

8

І спрова́джу Я їх, і вони будуть пробува́ти в сере́дині Єрусалиму, і стануть наро́дом Моїм, а Я стану їм Богом у правді та в праведності.

9

“Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Let your hands be strong,
You who have been hearing in these days
These words by the mouth of the prophets,
Who spoke in the day the foundation was laid
For the house of the Lord of hosts,
That the temple might be built.

Так говорить Госпо́дь Савао́т: Нехай стануть сильними ваші руки, ви, що слухаєте цими днями слова́ ці з уст пророків, що були в день закла́дин дому Господа Саваота, храму, щоб був побудо́ваний.

10

For before these days
There were no wages for man nor any hire for beast;
There was no peace from the enemy for whoever went out or came in;
For I set all men, everyone, against his neighbor.

Бо перед цими днями не було́ нагоро́ди для люди́ни, ані нагоро́ди для худоби, і для того, хто вихо́див, і для того, хто вхо́див не було́ споко́ю від ворога, і пускав Я всіх людей одно́го проти о́дного.

11

But now I will not treat the remnant of this people as in the former days,’ says the Lord of hosts.

11

Тому́ Я тепер для останку оцьо́го наро́ду не бу́ду такий, як за тих давніх днів, промовляє Господь Саваот.

12

‘For the [h]seed shall be prosperous,
The vine shall give its fruit,
The ground shall give her increase,
And the heavens shall give their dew —
I will cause the remnant of this people
To possess all these.

Бо буде насіння миру: виноград дасть свій плід, а земля урожай свій подасть, а небо дасть ро́су свою, і вчиню Я, що решта оцьо́го наро́ду це все пося́де.

13

And it shall come to pass
That just as you were a curse among the nations,
O house of Judah and house of Israel,
So I will save you, and you shall be a blessing.
Do not fear,
Let your hands be strong.’

13

І станеться, як були ви прокля́ттям серед наро́дів, доме Юдин та доме Ізраїлів, так Я вас спасу́, і ви станете благослове́нням. Не бійтесь, — хай зміцні́ють ваші ру́ки!

14

“For thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Just as I determined to [i]punish you
When your fathers provoked Me to wrath,’
Says the Lord of hosts,
‘And I would not relent,

Бо так промовляє Госпо́дь Савао́т: Як Я ду́мав зробити вам зле, коли ваші батьки прогнівля́ли Мене, — промовляє Господь Саваот, — і не жа́лував Я,

15

So again in these days
I am determined to do good
To Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.
Do not fear.

15

так зно́ву заду́мав Я днями оци́ми вчинити добро Єрусалимові та Юдиному до́мові. Не бійтесь!

16

These are the things you shall do:
Speak each man the truth to his neighbor;
Give judgment in your gates for truth, justice, and peace;

16

Оце речі, які бу́дете робити: Говоріть правду один о́дному, правду та суд миру судіть у ваших брамах.

17

Let none of you think evil in [j]your heart against your neighbor;
And do not love a false oath.
For all these are things that I hate,’
Says the Lord.”

17

І не ду́майте зла в своїм серці один проти о́дного, і не любіть неправдивої прися́ги, бо це все оте, що знена́видив Я, промовляє Господь.“

18

Then the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying,

І було мені слово Господнє таке:

19

“Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘The fast of the fourth month,
The fast of the fifth,
The fast of the seventh,
And the fast of the tenth,
Shall be joy and gladness and cheerful feasts
For the house of Judah.
Therefore love truth and peace.’

19

„Так говорить Господь Саваот: Піст четвертого, і піст п'ятого, і піст сьомого, і піст десятого місяця стане для Юдиного дому на радість і на втіху, та на веселі свя́та, але правду та мир любіте!

20

“Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Peoples shall yet come,
Inhabitants of many cities;

Так говорить Господь Саваот: Ще при́йдуть наро́ди та мешканці числе́нних міст.

21

The inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying,
“Let us continue to go and pray before the Lord,
And seek the Lord of hosts.
I myself will go also.”

21

І при́йдуть ме́шканці одного міста до другого, кажучи: Ходімо, ходімо вблага́ти Господа, шукати Господа Саваота! Піду́ також я.

22

Yes, many peoples and strong nations
Shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem,
And to pray before the Lord.’

22

І поприхо́дять числе́нні наро́ди та сильні люди шукати Господа Саваота в Єрусалимі, і блага́ти Господа.

23

“Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘In those days ten men from every language of the nations shall grasp the [k]sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.” ’ ”

Так говорить Господь Саваот: І станеться тими днями, що схо́плять десять мужів з усіх язи́ків тих наро́дів, і схо́плять за по́лу юдея, говорячи: Ходімо з вами, бо ми чули: Бог з вами!“
