New King James Version

Darby Bible Translation

  • Jesus Predicts the Destruction of the Temple

    Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple.
  • Temple Destruction Foretold

    And Jesus went forth and went away from the temple, and his disciples came to [him] to point out to him the buildings of the temple.
  • And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”
  • And he answering said to them, Do ye not see all these things? Verily I say to you, Not a stone shall be left here upon a stone which shall not be thrown down.
  • The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age

    Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
  • And as he was sitting upon the mount of Olives the disciples came to him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be, and what is the sign of thy coming and [the] completion of the age?
  • And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you.
  • And Jesus answering said to them, See that no one mislead you.
  • For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.
  • False Christs

    For many shall come in my name, saying, *I* am the Christ, and they shall mislead many.
  • And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for [a]all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
  • But ye will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that ye be not disturbed; for all [these things] must take place, but it is not yet the end.
  • For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, [b]pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.
  • For nation shall rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines and pestilences, and earthquakes in divers places.
  • All these are the beginning of sorrows.
  • But all these [are the] beginning of throes.
  • “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.
  • Witnessing to All Nations

    Then shall they deliver you up to tribulation, and shall kill you; and ye will be hated of all the nations for my name's sake.
  • And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.
  • And then will many be offended, and will deliver one another up, and hate one another;
  • Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.
  • and many false prophets shall arise and shall mislead many;
  • And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.
  • and because lawlessness shall prevail, the love of the most shall grow cold;
  • But he who endures to the end shall be saved.
  • but he that has endured to the end, *he* shall be saved.
  • And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
  • And these glad tidings of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole habitable earth, for a witness to all the nations, and then shall come the end.
  • The Great Tribulation

    “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand),
  • The Abomination of Desolation

    When therefore ye shall see the abomination of desolation, which is spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in [what is a] holy place, (he that reads let him understand,)
  • “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
  • then let those who are in Judaea flee to the mountains;
  • Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house.
  • let not him that is on the house come down to take the things out of his house;
  • And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes.
  • and let not him that is in the field turn back to take his garment.
  • But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!
  • But woe to those that are with child, and those that give suck in those days.
  • And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath.
  • But pray that your flight may not be in winter time nor on sabbath:
  • For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.
  • for then shall there be great tribulation, such as has not been from [the] beginning of [the] world until now, nor ever shall be;
  • And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the [c]elect’s sake those days will be shortened.
  • and if those days had not been cut short, no flesh had been saved; but on account of the elect those days shall be cut short.
  • “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it.
  • Then if any one say to you, Behold, here is the Christ, or here, believe [it] not.
  • For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
  • For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall give great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.
  • See, I have told you beforehand.
  • Behold, I have told you beforehand.
  • “Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it.
  • The Return of the Son of Man

    If therefore they say to you, Behold, he is in the desert, go not forth; behold, [he is] in the inner chambers, do not believe [it].
  • For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
  • For as the lightning goes forth from the east and shines to the west, so shall be the coming of the Son of man.
  • For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together.
  • [For] wherever the carcase is, there will be gathered the eagles.
  • The Coming of the Son of Man

    “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
  • But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.
  • Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
  • And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the land lament, and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
  • And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His [d]elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
  • And he shall send his angels with a great sound of trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from [the one] extremity of [the] heavens to [the other] extremity of them.
  • The Parable of the Fig Tree

    “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.
  • The lesson of the Fig Tree

    But learn the parable from the fig-tree: When already its branch becomes tender and produces leaves, ye know that the summer is near.
  • So you also, when you see all these things, know that [e]it is near — at the doors!
  • Thus also *ye*, when ye see all these things, know that it is near, at the doors.
  • Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.
  • Verily I say to you, This generation will not have passed away until all these things shall have taken place.
  • Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
  • The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words shall in no wise pass away.
  • No One Knows the Day or Hour

    “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of [f]heaven, but My Father only.
  • Be Ready at Any Hour

    But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of the heavens, but [my] Father alone.
  • But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
  • But as the days of Noe, so also shall be the coming of the Son of man.
  • For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,
  • For as they were in the days which were before the flood, eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day on which Noe entered into the ark,
  • and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
  • and they knew not till the flood came and took all away; thus also shall be the coming of the Son of man.
  • Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left.
  • Then two shall be in the field, one is taken and one is left;
  • Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left.
  • two [women] grinding at the mill, one is taken and one is left.
  • Watch therefore, for you do not know what [g]hour your Lord is coming.
  • Watch therefore, for ye know not in what hour your Lord comes.
  • But know this, that if the master of the house had known what [h]hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.
  • But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have watched and not have suffered his house to be dug through [into].
  • Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
  • Wherefore *ye* also, be ye ready, for in that hour that ye think not the Son of man comes.
  • The Faithful Servant and the Evil Servant

    “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food [i]in due season?
  • Who then is the faithful and prudent bondman whom his lord has set over his household, to give them food in season?
  • Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing.
  • Blessed is that bondman whom his lord on coming shall find doing thus.
  • Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods.
  • Verily I say unto you, that he will set him over all his substance.
  • But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying [j]his coming,’
  • But if that evil bondman should say in his heart, My lord delays to come,
  • and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards,
  • and begin to beat his fellow-bondmen, and eat and drink with the drunken;
  • the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of,
  • the lord of that bondman shall come in a day when he does not expect it, and in an hour he knows not of,
  • and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
  • and shall cut him in two and appoint his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
