John the Baptist Prepares the Way

The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Почин євангелиї Ісуса Христа, Сина Божого,

As it is written in [a]the Prophets:
“Behold, I send My messenger before Your face,
Who will prepare Your way before You.”

“The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord;
Make His paths straight.’ ”

Голос покликуючого в пустинї: Готовте дорогу Господню, простими робіть стежки Його.

John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance [b]for the remission of sins.

Появивсь Йоан, хрестячи в пустинї, й проповідуючи хрещеннє покаяння на прощеннє гріхів.

Then all the land of Judea, and those from Jerusalem, went out to him and were all baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.

І виходила до него вся сторона Юдейська й Єрусалимцї, й хрестились від него всї в ріцї Йорданї, сповідаючи гріхи свої.

Now John was clothed with camel’s hair and with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey.

Був же Йоан одягнений у верблюжий волос і в пояс шкуряний на поясницї своїй; а їв сарану та дикий мед;

And he preached, saying, “There comes One after me who is mightier than I, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to stoop down and loose.

і проповідував, глаголючи: Гряде потужнїщий над мене слїдом за мною; у Него недостоєн я, нахилившись, розвязати ремінь обувя Його.

8

I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

Я хрестив вас водою, Він же хрестите ме вас Духом сьвятим.

John Baptizes Jesus

It came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.

І сталось тими днями: Прийшов Ісус із Назарету Галилейського, й охрестивсь у Йоана в Йорданї.

10

And immediately, coming up [c]from the water, He saw the heavens [d]parting and the Spirit descending upon Him like a dove.

10

І, зараз вийшовши з води, побачив небеса, що відчинились, і Дух, як голуб, злинув на Него.

11

Then a voice came from heaven, “You are My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

11

І зійшов голос із небес: Ти єси Син мій любий, що я вподобав.

Satan Tempts Jesus

Immediately the Spirit [e]drove Him into the wilderness.

12

І зараз Дух випровадив Його в пустиню.

13

And He was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered to Him.

13

І був там у пустинї днїв сорок, спокушуваний од сатани; й пробував з дикими зьвірми; й ангели служили Йому.

14

Jesus Begins His Galilean Ministry

Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel [f]of the kingdom of God,

14

Як же видано Йоана, прийшов Ісус у Галилею, проповідуючи євангелию царства Божого,

15

and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God [g]is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”

15

і глаголючи: Що сповнив ся час, і наближило ся царство Боже. Покайтесь і віруйте в євангелию.

Four Fishermen Called as Disciples

And as He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.

16

Ходячи ж понад морем Галилейським, побачив Симона та Андрея, брата його, як вони закидали невід у море; були бо рибалки.

17

Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”

17

І рече до них Ісус: Ійдїть слїдом за мною, то зроблю, що станетесь ловцями людей.

18

They immediately left their nets and followed Him.

18

І, зараз покинувши неводи свої, пійшли слїдом за Ним.

19

When He had gone a little farther from there, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending their nets.

19

І, відійшовши трохи дальше звідтіля, побачив Якова Зеведеєвого та Йоана, брата його, так само в човнї, налагоджуючих неводи.

20

And immediately He called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went after Him.

20

І зараз покликав їх; і, покинувши батька свого Зеведея в човнї з наймитами, пійшли слїдом за Ним.

21

Jesus Casts Out an Unclean Spirit

Then they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and taught.

І приходять у Капернаум; і зараз субітнього дня, увійшовши в школу, навчав.

22

And they were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

22

І дивувались наукою Його, навчав бо їх яко маючий власть, а не як письменники.

23

Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out,

І був у них у школї чоловік з духом нечистим; і закричав,

24

saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are — the Holy One of God!”

24

кажучи: Остав! що нам і Тобі, Ісусе Назарянине? чи прийшов єси погубити нас? Знаю Тебе, хто єси: Сьвятий Божий.

25

But Jesus rebuked him, saying, [h]“Be quiet, and come out of him!”

25

І погрозив йому Ісус, глаголючи: Мовчи й вийди з него.

26

And when the unclean spirit had convulsed him and cried out with a loud voice, he came out of him.

26

І стрепенувши його дух нечистий, і закричавши голосом великим, вийшов з него.

27

Then they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, [i]“What is this? What new [j]doctrine is this? For with authority He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.”

27

І полякались усї так, що питали один в одного, говорячи: Що се таке? що се за наука така нова? що по власти й духам нечистим повелїває, і слухають Його?

28

And immediately His fame spread throughout all the region around Galilee.

28

І розійшлась чутка про Него зараз по всїй околицї Галилейській.

29

Peter’s Mother-in-Law Healed

Now as soon as they had come out of the synagogue, they entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.

29

І зараз, із школи вийшовши, пійшли в господу Симона та Андрея, з Яковом та Йоаном.

30

But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick with a fever, and they told Him about her at once.

30

Теща ж Симонова лежала в пропасницї, й зараз кажуть Йому про неї.

31

So He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and immediately the fever left her. And she served them.

31

І приступивши Він, підвів її, взявши за руку її; й покинула її пропасниця зараз; і послугувала вона їм.

Many Healed After Sabbath Sunset

At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick and those who were demon-possessed.

32

Як же настав вечір, після заходу сонця, поприносили до Него всїх недужих і біснуватих.

33

And the whole city was gathered together at the door.

33

І ввесь город зібрав ся до дверей.

34

Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him.

34

І сцїлив многих недужих на всякі болестї, і бісів многих вигнав; і не дозволяв говорити бісам, бо вони знали Його.

35

Preaching in Galilee

Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a [k]solitary place; and there He prayed.

35

І вранцї, ще геть за ночи, вставши, вийшов, і пійшов у пусте місце, й там молив ся.

36

And Simon and those who were with Him searched for Him.

36

І пустились за Ним Симон і ті, що з ним.

37

When they found Him, they said to Him, “Everyone is looking for You.”

37

І, знайшовши Його, кажуть Йому: Що всї шукають Тебе.

38

But He said to them, “Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth.”

38

І рече до них: Ходїмо в близькі містечка, щоб і там проповідував; на те бо прийшов я.

39

And He was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and casting out demons.

39

І проповідував по школах їх скрізь по всїй Галилеї, і виганяв біси.

40

Jesus Cleanses a Leper

Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”

40

І приходить до Него прокажений, і благаючи Його, впавши на колїна перед Ним, каже до Него: Коли хочеш, зможеш мене очистити.

41

Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.”

41

Ісус же, змилосердившись, простяг руку, доторкнувсь до него, й рече йому: Хочу; очистись.

42

As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed.

42

І, як Він сказав, зараз зникла з него проказа, й очистив ся.

43

And He strictly warned him and sent him away at once,

43

І, заказавши йому, зараз відослав його,

44

and said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing those things which Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

44

і рече до него: Гледи ж, нїкому нїчого не кажи, а йди, покажись священикові, і принеси за очищеннє твоє, що повелїв Мойсей на сьвідкуваннє їм.

45

However, he went out and began to proclaim it freely, and to spread the matter, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter the city, but was outside in deserted places; and they came to Him from every direction.

Він же, вийшовши, почав проповідувати багато, й ширити кругом чутку; так, що Він не міг уже явно ввійти в город, а пробував осторонь у пустих місцях; і приходили до Него звідусюди.
