Healing on the Sabbath

And He entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a withered hand.

1

І ввійшов ізнов у школу; й був там чоловік, що мав суху руку.

So they watched Him closely, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might [a]accuse Him.

І назирали Його, чи сцїлить його в суботу, щоб обвинуватити Його.

And He said to the man who had the withered hand, [b]“Step forward.”

І рече до сухорукого чоловіка: Стань посерединї.

4

Then He said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they kept silent.

4

І рече до них: Чи годить ся в суботу добро робити, чи зло робити? життє спасати, чи погубляти? Вони ж мовчали.

5

And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored [c]as whole as the other.

І, позирнувши на них кругом гнївно, жалкуючи над скаменїлостю сердець їх, рече чоловікові: Простягни руку твою. І простяг, і стала рука його здорова, як і друга.

Then the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him.

6

І вийшовши Фарисеї, зараз з Iродиянами зробили раду на Него, як Його погубити.

A Great Multitude Follows Jesus

But Jesus withdrew with His disciples to the sea. And a great multitude from Galilee followed Him, and from Judea

7

Ісус же відійшов з учениками своїми до моря; а великий натовп із Галилеї йшов за Ним, і з Юдеї,

8

and Jerusalem and Idumea and beyond the Jordan; and those from Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they heard how many things He was doing, came to Him.

8

і з Єрусалиму, й з Ідумеї, і зза Йордану; й ті, що кругом Тира та Сидона, натовп великий, прочувши, скільки Він робив, поприходили до Него.

So He told His disciples that a small boat should be kept ready for Him because of the multitude, lest they should crush Him.

І сказав Він ученикам своїм наготовити Йому човна задля народу, щоб не тиснулись до Него.

10

For He healed many, so that as many as had afflictions pressed about Him to touch Him.

Многих бо сцїлив, так що кидались на Него, щоб приторкнутись до Него, хто з них мав недуги.

11

And the unclean spirits, whenever they saw Him, fell down before Him and cried out, saying, “You are the Son of God.”

А духи нечисті, як бачили Його, то падали ниць перед Ним, і кричали, говорячи: Ти єси Син Божий.

12

But He sternly warned them that they should not make Him known.

12

І остро грозив їм, щоб Його не виявляли.

The Twelve Apostles

And He went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him.

13

І вийшов Він на гору, й покликав, кого схотїв сам; і поприходили до Него.

14

Then He appointed twelve, [d]that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach,

І настановив дванайцятьох, щоб були з Ним, і щоб посилати їх проповідувати,

15

and to have [e]power [f]to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons:

15

і щоб мали силу сцїляти недуги, й виганяти біси.

16

[g]Simon, to whom He gave the name Peter;

16

І дав Симонові імя Петр;

17

James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James, to whom He gave the name Boanerges, that is, “Sons of Thunder”;

17

та Якова Зеведеєвого, та Йоана, брата Якового, й дав їм імена Воанергес, що єсть: Сини громові;

18

Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Cananite;

18

та Андрея, та Филипа, та Вартоломея, та Маттея, та Тому, та Якова Алфеєвого, та Тадея, та Симона Хананця,

19

and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him. And they went into a house.

19

та Юду Іскариоцького, що зрадив Його.

20

A House Divided Cannot Stand

Then the multitude came together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.

20

Входять вони в господу, і знов сходить ся народ, так що не могли анї хлїба з'їсти.

21

But when His own people heard about this, they went out to lay hold of Him, for they said, “He is out of His mind.”

21

І прочувши свояки Його, вийшли взяти Його; казали бо, що Він не при собі.

22

And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He has Beelzebub,” and, “By the ruler of the demons He casts out demons.”

22

А письменники, поприходивши з Єрусалиму, казали, що Вельзевула має, і що бісовським князем виганяє біси.

23

So He called them to Himself and said to them in parables: “How can Satan cast out Satan?

23

І, покликавши їх, говорив до них приповістями: Як може сатана сатану виганяти?

24

If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

24

І коли царство проти себе роздїлить ся, не може стояти царство те.

25

And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

25

І коли господа проти себе роздїлить ся, не може стояти господа тая.

26

And if Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has an end.

26

І коли сатана устав проти себе, й роздїлив ся, не може стояти, а конець йому.

27

No one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house.

27

Не може нїхто надоби сильного, ввійшовши в господу його, пожакувати, як перше сильного не звяже; аж тодї господу його пограбить.

28

The Unpardonable Sin

“Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter;

28

Істино глаголю вам: Що всї гріхи відпустять ся синам чоловічим, і хули, якими б вони нї хулили;

29

but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation” —

29

хто ж хулити ме на Духа сьвятого, не має прощення во віки, а винен вічного осуду:

30

because they said, “He has an unclean spirit.”

30

бо казали: Духа нечистого має.

31

Jesus’ Mother and Brothers Send for Him

Then His brothers and His mother came, and standing outside they sent to Him, calling Him.

31

Приходять тодї брати й мати Його, й стоячи на дворі, послали до Него, кличучи Його.

32

And a multitude was sitting around Him; and they said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers [h]are outside seeking You.”

32

І сидїв народ круг Него; кажуть же Йому: Ось мати Твоя і брати Твої на дворі шукають Тебе.

33

But He answered them, saying, “Who is My mother, or My brothers?”

33

І, озвавшись до них, рече: Хто се мати моя, або брати мої?

34

And He looked around in a circle at those who sat about Him, and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers!

34

І, позирнувши кругом по тих, що сидїли коло Него, рече: Оце мати моя, і брати мої!

35

For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.”

35

Хто бо чинити ме волю Божу, той брат менї, й сестра моя, і мати.
