because he had often been bound with shackles and chains. And the chains had been pulled apart by him, and the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone tame him.

And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones.
Дни и ночи напролёт среди гробниц и холмов он кричал и бился о камни.
When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him.
Увидев Иисуса издали, человек подбежал, склонился перед Ним
и закричал громким голосом: "Что Тебе нужно от меня, Иисус, Сын Бога Всевышнего? Богом Тебя заклинаю, не мучь меня!"
For He said to him, “Come out of the man, unclean spirit!”
Ибо Иисус говорил: "Выйди из этого человека, дух нечистый!"
Then He asked him, “What is your name?”
And he answered, saying, “My name is Legion; for we are many.”
And he answered, saying, “My name is Legion; for we are many.”
Тогда Иисус спросил его: "Как имя твоё?" Тот ответил: "Имя мне — легион, потому что во мне много духов".
Also he begged Him earnestly that He would not send them out of the country.
И стали духи умолять Его не отсылать их прочь из тех мест.
Now a large herd of swine was feeding there near the mountains.
На склоне холма паслось большое стадо свиней.
So all the demons begged Him, saying, “Send us to the swine, that we may enter them.”
И бесы просили Иисуса: "Всели нас в свиней, чтобы мы могли войти в них".
Он им позволил сделать это, так что нечистые духи вышли из человека и вселились в свиней. И стадо, около двух тысяч голов, бросилось с крутого берега в озеро и утонуло.
So those who fed the swine fled, and they told it in the city and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that had happened.
Пастухи же убежали прочь и рассказали в городе и в округе о происшедшем. Люди пришли посмотреть, что же случилось.
Then they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.
Они подошли к Иисусу и увидели, что бесновавшийся, который был одержим злыми духами, сидит одетый и находится в здравом уме и испугались.
And those who saw it told them how it happened to him who had been demon-possessed, and about the swine.
Те, кто видел происшедшее, рассказали им о том, что случилось с бесноватым и со свиньями.
Then they began to plead with Him to depart from their region.

And when He got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him.

However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.”
Но Он не позволил ему, а сказал: "Иди домой к своим, расскажи им, что Господь сделал для тебя и как одарил тебя Своей милостью".

Now when Jesus had crossed over again by boat to the other side, a great multitude gathered to Him; and He was by the sea.

And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name. And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet
И пришёл туда глава синагоги по имени Иаир. Увидев Иисуса, он припал к Его ногам
and begged Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live.”
и стал усиленно умолять Его, говоря: "Моя дочь при смерти. Прошу Тебя, приди и возложи на неё руки, чтобы она исцелилась и осталась жива".
So Jesus went with him, and a great multitude followed Him and thronged Him.
Иисус пошёл с ним, и большая толпа народа следовала за Ним по пятам, тесня Его.
Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years,
Была там одна женщина, которая двенадцать лет страдала кровотечениями.
and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse.
Она много страдала, и многие врачи старались ей помочь. Она потратила на них всё, что имела, но ей становилось не лучше, а хуже.
When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment.
Когда она услышала об Иисусе, она подошла к Нему сзади в толпе народа и дотронулась до Его одежды,
For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
ибо она подумала: "Если я смогу хотя бы прикоснуться к Его одежде, я исцелюсь".
И тотчас же кровотечение у неё прекратилось, и она ощутила в теле, что исцелена от болезни.
And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?”
Иисус же сразу понял, что сила вышла из Него. Он повернулся к толпе и спросил: "Кто дотронулся до Моей одежды?"
But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ”
Его ученики сказали: "Ты видишь, что толпа теснит Тебя, а спрашиваешь: "Кто прикоснулся ко Мне?"
And He looked around to see her who had done this thing.
Но Он продолжал смотреть вокруг, чтобы увидеть того, кто это сделал.
But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth.
Тогда женщина, поняв, что с ней произошло, дрожа от страха, пала ниц перед Ним и рассказала Ему всю правду.
And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”
Он сказал ей: "Дочь Моя, твоя вера спасла тебя. Иди с миром, ты больше не будешь страдать от своей болезни".
While He was still speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?”
Когда Он ещё говорил, пришли посыльные из дома Иаира, главы синагоги. Они сказали: "Твоя дочь умерла. Не надо беспокоить Учителя".
As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.”
Но Иисус услышал, что они говорили, и сказал Иаиру: "Не бойся. Просто веруй".
And He permitted no one to follow Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.
Он не позволил никому, кроме Петра, Иакова и Иоанна, брата Иакова, следовать за Собой.
Они пришли в дом главы синагоги, и Он увидел смятение и громко плачущих и рыдающих людей.
When He came in, He said to them, “Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but sleeping.”
Он вошёл и сказал им: "К чему смятение и плач? Девочка не умерла, она спит".
And they ridiculed Him. But when He had put them all outside, He took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with Him, and entered where the child was lying.
Они лишь посмеялись над Ним. Он отослал прочь всех людей, и, взяв с собой отца и мать ребёнка и Своих трёх учеников, вошёл туда, где лежала девочка.
Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.”
Он взял её за руку и сказал: "Талифа, куми!", что значит: "Девочка, говорю тебе, встань!"
Immediately the girl arose and walked, for she was twelve years of age. And they were overcome with great amazement.
И девочка сразу же поднялась и начала ходить, ибо ей было двенадцать лет. Великое изумление овладело присутствующими.
