“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

Jesus, the Way to the Father

“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.

In My Father’s house are many [a]mansions; if it were not so, [b]I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

There is more than enough room in my Father’s home.a If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?b

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.

And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

And you know the way to where I am going.”

Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”

“No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

The Father Revealed

“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”

If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is.c From now on, you do know him and have seen him!”

Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”

Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.”

Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you?

Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.

Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me.

Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.

Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the work you have seen me do.

The Answered Prayer

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.

“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.

And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.

If you [c]ask anything in My name, I will do it.

Jesus Promises Another Helper

“If you love Me, [d]keep My commandments.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

“If you love me, obeyd my commandments.

16

And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another [e]Helper, that He may abide with you forever —

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate,e who will never leave you.

17

the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.f

I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

No, I will not abandon you as orphans — I will come to you.

Indwelling of the Father and the Son

“A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also.

Soon the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Since I live, you also will live.

At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.

He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and [f]manifest Myself to him.”

Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.”

Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”

Judas (not Judas Iscariot, but the other disciple with that name) said to him, “Lord, why are you going to reveal yourself only to us and not to the world at large?”

Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.

He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.

Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me. And remember, my words are not my own. What I am telling you is from the Father who sent me.

The Gift of His Peace

“These things I have spoken to you while being present with you.

I am telling you these things now while I am still with you.

But the [g]Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative — that is, the Holy Spirit — he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.

27

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

“I am leaving you with a gift — peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

28

You have heard Me say to you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice because [h]I said, ‘I am going to the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I.

Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am.

“And now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe.

I have told you these things before they happen so that when they do happen, you will believe.

30

I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.

“I don’t have much more time to talk to you, because the ruler of this world approaches. He has no power over me,

31

But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go from here.

31

but I will do what the Father requires of me, so that the world will know that I love the Father. Come, let’s be going.
