Walk in Unity

I, therefore, the prisoner [a]of the Lord, [b]beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,

Отже, я, в’язень у Господі, прошу вас, щоб ви поводилися гідно звання, до якого були покликані,

with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,

з усякою покірністю і лагідністю, з довготерпінням, у любові підтримуючи одне одного,

endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;

Одне Тіло й один Дух, — як і були ви покликані в одній надії вашого покликання.

one Lord, one faith, one baptism;

Один Господь, одна віра, одне хрещення,

one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in [c]you all.

один Бог і Отець усіх, Який над усіма, і через усіх, і в усіх [нас].

Spiritual Gifts

But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.

А кожному з нас дана благодать згідно з даром Христа.

Therefore He says:
“When He ascended on high,
He led captivity captive,
And gave gifts to men.”

Тому сказано: Піднявшись на висоту, Він полон полонив і дав дари людям.

9

(Now this, “He ascended” — what does it mean but that He also [d]first descended into the lower parts of the earth?

А що означає «піднявшись», як не те, що [раніше] Він зійшов до найнижчих місць землі?

10

He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)

Хто зійшов, Той і піднявся вище від небес, щоб наповнити все.

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,

Він і поставив одних апостолами, інших пророками, ще інших благовісниками, а тих — пастирями та вчителями,

12

for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the [e]edifying of the body of Christ,

щоби приготувати святих для справи служіння, для збудування Христового тіла,

13

till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

13

аж поки всі досягнемо єдності віри й пізнання Божого Сина, досконалого змужніння, міри зрілості — повноти Христа;

14

that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,

14

щоб ми не були більше малими дітьми, які носяться хвилями і захоплюються всяким вітром учення, людською підступністю, лукавством, що вводить в оману,

15

but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head — Christ —

15

а щоб ми в любові були правдомовні, щоб у всьому досягли зросту Того, Хто є Голова, — Христа.

16

from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

Від Нього — усе тіло, складене і надійно сполучене різними зв’язками в міру дії кожного окремого члена тіла, зростає на збудування самого себе в любові.

The New Man

This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as [f]the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind,

Усе це я кажу й свідчу в Господі, щоб ви більше не були, як [ті] язичники, які ходять у марноті свого розуму,

18

having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart;

18

маючи затьмарену свідомість, вони відчужені від Божого життя через їхнє незнання, через закам’янілість їхніх сердець.

19

who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

19

Вони стали нечутливими, піддалися розпусті, щоб у нестримності чинити всяку нечистоту.

20

But you have not so learned Christ,

Але ви не так пізнали Христа,

21

if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus:

21

that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,

22

то треба, щоб ви відкинули стару людину з її попереднім способом життя, яка зітліває в оманливих пожадливостях,

23

and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

23

аби ваш розум оновлювався духом,

24

and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

24

щоб ви зодягнулися в нову людину, створену за подобою Божою, у праведності та святості істини.

25

Do Not Grieve the Spirit

Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another.

25

Тому, відкинувши неправду, кожний говоріть своєму ближньому правду, бо ми є членами одне одного.

26

“Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath,

26

Гніваючись, — не грішіть; сонце хай не заходить у вашому гніві,

27

nor give [g]place to the devil.

і не давайте місця дияволові.

28

Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.

28

Хто крав, хай більше не краде, але краще нехай працює, роблячи своїми руками добро, аби мав що подати тому, хто має потребу.

29

Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary [h]edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

29

Жодне погане слово хай не виходить з ваших уст, а тільки добре для зміцнення [віри], щоб воно принесло користь тим, хто слухає.

30

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

30

І не засмучуйте Святого Божого Духа, Яким ви запечатані на день викуплення.

31

Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, [i]clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

31

Усяке роздратування, гнів, лють, крик і зневага хай віддаляться від вас разом з усякою злобою.

32

And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

32

Будьте ж добрими один до одного, милосердними, прощаючи одне одному, як і Бог через Христа вам простив!
