The Song of Deborah

Then Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam sang on that day, saying:

“When[a] leaders lead in Israel,
When the people [b]willingly offer themselves,
Bless the Lord!

Слава Господу! Вожди подняли армию Израиля, И шли они на битву добровольно.

“Hear, O kings! Give ear, O princes!
I, even I, will sing to the Lord;
I will sing praise to the Lord God of Israel.

Слушайте, цари. Внимайте, правители. Тебе пою я песню эту, Боже, И музыкой своей тебя, Господь, восславлю.

“Lord, when You went out from Seir,
When You marched from the field of Edom,
The earth trembled and the heavens poured,
The clouds also poured water;

Господь, когда Ты вышел из Сеира И шёл маршем с земли Едомской, земля тряслась, небеса текли и облака проливали воду.

The mountains [c]gushed before the Lord,
This Sinai, before the Lord God of Israel.

И сотрясались горы перед Господом, Богом горы Синай, перед Господом, Богом Израиля.

“In the days of Shamgar, son of Anath,
In the days of Jael,
The highways were deserted,
And the travelers walked along the byways.

Когда правил сын Анафов Семигар, во времена Иаили, караваны и путники окольными дорогами ходили, а главные дороги были пусты.

Village life ceased, it ceased in Israel,
Until I, Deborah, arose,
Arose a mother in Israel.

Не стало воинов в селениях Израиля, пока к ним ты, Девора, не пришла. Пока ты не пришла, чтоб матерью им стать.

They chose new gods;
Then there was war in the gates;
Not a shield or spear was seen among forty thousand in Israel.

Война пришла к воротам городским, когда они пошли за новыми богами. И никто не нашёл ни щита, ни меча в сорокатысячном войске Израиля.

My heart is with the rulers of Israel
Who offered themselves willingly with the people.
Bless the Lord!

Вожди Израиля, сердце моё с вами. С теми, кто шёл на войну добровольно. Слава Господу!

“Speak, you who ride on white donkeys,
Who sit in judges’ attire,
And who walk along the road.

Внимайте, люди, на белых ослицах едущие, на коврах сидящие и по дороге идущие!

Far from the noise of the archers, among the watering places,
There they shall recount the righteous acts of the Lord,
The righteous acts for His villagers in Israel;
Then the people of the Lord shall go down to the gates.

У водопоев, где собираются стада, цимбал мы слышим голоса. О подвигах Господних народ поёт. О подвигах вождей Его в Израиле. О том, как сыны Господа в битве у ворот победу одержали.

“Awake, awake, Deborah!
Awake, awake, sing a song!
Arise, Barak, and lead your captives away,
O son of Abinoam!

Вставай, Девора, вставай! И песню свою запевай! Восстань, Авиноама сын, Барак, и в плен пусть будет взят твой враг!

13

“Then the survivors came down, the people against the nobles;
The Lord came down for me against the mighty.

13

Вы, уцелевшие, к вождям своим идите. Люди Господа, ко Мне вы мощь свою несите.

14

From Ephraim were those whose roots were in Amalek.
After you, Benjamin, with your peoples,
From Machir rulers came down,
And from Zebulun those who bear the recruiter’s staff.

От Ефрема из страны Амилака пришли и следом за тобою, Вениамин, пошли. Начальники шли из семьи Махира. А те, кто бронзовым жезлом владел, пришли из семьи Завулона.

15

And [d]the princes of Issachar were with Deborah;
As Issachar, so was Barak
Sent into the valley [e]under his command;
Among the divisions of Reuben
There were great resolves of heart.

Вожди Иссахара были с Деворой. Народ его преданным был Бараку. И пешими шли в долину за ним. Много бравых солдат в твоей армии, Рувим.

16

Why did you sit among the sheepfolds,
To hear the pipings for the flocks?
The divisions of Reuben have great searchings of heart.

Так почему же вы у стен овчарен ваших сидели, слушая песни пастухов? И почему отряды Рувима погружены в раздумья были?

17

Gilead stayed beyond the Jordan,
And why did Dan remain [f]on ships?
Asher continued at the seashore,
And stayed by his inlets.

Народ Галаада спокойно жил за Иорданом. И с кораблями люди Дана оставались. На берегу морском народ Асира спокойно жил у пристаней своих.

18

Zebulun is a people who jeopardized their lives to the point of death,
Naphtali also, on the heights of the battlefield.

А народ Неффалима и народ Завулона, рискуя своей жизнью, в горах вели сраженье.

19

“The kings came and fought,
Then the kings of Canaan fought
In Taanach, by the waters of Megiddo;
They took no spoils of silver.

19

Цари пришли сразиться. Ханаанские цари сражались в Фанаахе у вод Магедонских, но добыча не досталась им.

20

They fought from the heavens;
The stars from their courses fought against Sisera.

20

С небес сражались звёзды, с путей своих с Сисарой воевали.

21

The torrent of Kishon swept them away,
That ancient torrent, the torrent of Kishon.
O my soul, march on in strength!

21

Поток Киссона, эта древняя река, увлёк людей Сисары. Душа моя, вперёд иди, набирая силу!

22

Then the horses’ hooves pounded,
The galloping, galloping of his steeds.

Стук копыт лошадиных о землю был слышен, когда Сисары мощные кони скакали.

23

‘Curse Meroz,’ said the [g]angel of the Lord,
‘Curse its inhabitants bitterly,
Because they did not come to the help of the Lord,
To the help of the Lord against the mighty.’

23

Ангел Господний произнёс: "Пусть будет проклят город Мероз и жители пусть будут прокляты его за то, что с храбрыми солдатами на помощь Господу не вышли".

24

“Most blessed among women is Jael,
The wife of Heber the Kenite;
Blessed is she among women in tents.

24

Да будет Иаиль, Хевера Кенеянина жена, благословенна среди женщин, в шатрах живущих!

25

He asked for water, she gave milk;
She brought out cream in a lordly bowl.

25

Сисара воды просил напиться. Она же молока ему дала, в сосуде, подобающем вождям, принесла ему молока лучшего.

26

She stretched her hand to the tent peg,
Her right hand to the workmen’s hammer;
She pounded Sisera, she pierced his head,
She split and struck through his temple.

26

И, выйдя, взяла кол от шатра, а в правую руку работников молот. Кол к виску Сисары приложила и голову ему пронзила!

27

At her feet he sank, he fell, he lay still;
At her feet he sank, he fell;
Where he sank, there he fell dead.

27

И к ногам он её опустился. Сражённый пал, к ногам её склонился и мёртвый там лежал.

28

“The mother of Sisera looked through the window,
And cried out through the lattice,
‘Why is his chariot so long in coming?
Why tarries the clatter of his chariots?’

28

В окно выглядывает мать Сисары и громко плачет, спрашивая: "Что колесницы сына долго так не едут? И почему не слышен звук копыт их лошадей?"

29

Her wisest [h]ladies answered her,
Yes, she [i]answered herself,

29

И отвечали ей служанки мудрые, как и сама она себе ответила:

30

‘Are they not finding and dividing the spoil:
To every man a girl or two;
For Sisera, plunder of dyed garments,
Plunder of garments embroidered and dyed,
Two pieces of dyed embroidery for the neck of the looter?’

"Наверное, они сейчас ликуют и делят меж собой добычу. Берут себе бойцы одну иль две девицы каждый. Сисара же выбирает разноцветные одежды из добычи. Одежды, вышитые с двух сторон, какие носит победитель".

31

“Thus let all Your enemies perish, O Lord!
But let those who love Him be like the sun
When it comes out in full strength.”
So the land had rest for forty years.

31

Так пусть враги твои все так погибнут, Господи! А любящие Тебя будут сильны, как солнце, восходящее во всей силе! И покоилась земля сорок лет.
