New Living Translation

New King James Version

  • Let all that I am praise the LORD.
    O LORD my God, how great you are!
    You are robed with honor and majesty.
  • Praise to the Sovereign Lord for His Creation and Providence

    Bless the Lord, O my soul!
    O Lord my God, You are very great:
    You are clothed with honor and majesty,
  • You are dressed in a robe of light.
    You stretch out the starry curtain of the heavens;
  • Who cover Yourself with light as with a garment,
    Who stretch out the heavens like a curtain.
  • you lay out the rafters of your home in the rain clouds.
    You make the clouds your chariot;
    you ride upon the wings of the wind.
  • He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters,
    Who makes the clouds His chariot,
    Who walks on the wings of the wind,
  • The winds are your messengers;
    flames of fire are your servants.a
  • Who makes His angels spirits,
    His [a]ministers a flame of fire.
  • You placed the world on its foundation
    so it would never be moved.
  • You who [b]laid the foundations of the earth,
    So that it should not be moved forever,
  • You clothed the earth with floods of water,
    water that covered even the mountains.
  • You covered it with the deep as with a garment;
    The waters stood above the mountains.
  • At your command, the water fled;
    at the sound of your thunder, it hurried away.
  • At Your rebuke they fled;
    At the voice of Your thunder they hastened away.
  • Mountains rose and valleys sank
    to the levels you decreed.
  • [c]They went up over the mountains;
    They went down into the valleys,
    To the place which You founded for them.
  • Then you set a firm boundary for the seas,
    so they would never again cover the earth.
  • You have set a boundary that they may not pass over,
    That they may not return to cover the earth.
  • You make springs pour water into the ravines,
    so streams gush down from the mountains.
  • He sends the springs into the valleys;
    They flow among the hills.
  • They provide water for all the animals,
    and the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
  • They give drink to every beast of the field;
    The wild donkeys quench their thirst.
  • The birds nest beside the streams
    and sing among the branches of the trees.
  • By them the birds of the heavens have their home;
    They sing among the branches.
  • You send rain on the mountains from your heavenly home,
    and you fill the earth with the fruit of your labor.
  • He waters the hills from His upper chambers;
    The earth is satisfied with the fruit of Your works.
  • You cause grass to grow for the livestock
    and plants for people to use.
    You allow them to produce food from the earth —
  • He causes the grass to grow for the cattle,
    And vegetation for the service of man,
    That he may bring forth food from the earth,
  • wine to make them glad,
    olive oil to soothe their skin,
    and bread to give them strength.
  • And wine that makes glad the heart of man,
    Oil to make his face shine,
    And bread which strengthens man’s heart.
  • The trees of the LORD are well cared for —
    the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.
  • The trees of the Lord are full of sap,
    The cedars of Lebanon which He planted,
  • There the birds make their nests,
    and the storks make their homes in the cypresses.
  • Where the birds make their nests;
    The stork has her home in the fir trees.
  • High in the mountains live the wild goats,
    and the rocks form a refuge for the hyraxes.b
  • The high hills are for the wild goats;
    The cliffs are a refuge for the rock[d] badgers.
  • You made the moon to mark the seasons,
    and the sun knows when to set.
  • He appointed the moon for seasons;
    The sun knows its going down.
  • You send the darkness, and it becomes night,
    when all the forest animals prowl about.
  • You make darkness, and it is night,
    In which all the beasts of the forest creep about.
  • Then the young lions roar for their prey,
    stalking the food provided by God.
  • The young lions roar after their prey,
    And seek their food from God.
  • At dawn they slink back
    into their dens to rest.
  • When the sun rises, they gather together
    And lie down in their dens.
  • Then people go off to their work,
    where they labor until evening.
  • Man goes out to his work
    And to his labor until the evening.
  • O LORD, what a variety of things you have made!
    In wisdom you have made them all.
    The earth is full of your creatures.
  • O Lord, how manifold are Your works!
    In wisdom You have made them all.
    The earth is full of Your possessions —
  • Here is the ocean, vast and wide,
    teeming with life of every kind,
    both large and small.
  • This great and wide sea,
    In which are innumerable teeming things,
    Living things both small and great.
  • See the ships sailing along,
    and Leviathan,c which you made to play in the sea.
  • There the ships sail about;
    There is that Leviathan[e]
    Which You have [f]made to play there.
  • They all depend on you
    to give them food as they need it.
  • These all wait for You,
    That You may give them their food in due season.
  • When you supply it, they gather it.
    You open your hand to feed them,
    and they are richly satisfied.
  • What You give them they gather in;
    You open Your hand, they are filled with good.
  • But if you turn away from them, they panic.
    When you take away their breath,
    they die and turn again to dust.
  • You hide Your face, they are troubled;
    You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.
  • When you give them your breath,d life is created,
    and you renew the face of the earth.
  • You send forth Your Spirit, they are created;
    And You renew the face of the earth.
  • May the glory of the LORD continue forever!
    The LORD takes pleasure in all he has made!
  • May the glory of the Lord endure forever;
    May the Lord rejoice in His works.
  • The earth trembles at his glance;
    the mountains smoke at his touch.
  • He looks on the earth, and it trembles;
    He touches the hills, and they smoke.
  • I will sing to the LORD as long as I live.
    I will praise my God to my last breath!
  • I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
    I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
  • May all my thoughts be pleasing to him,
    for I rejoice in the LORD.
  • May my meditation be sweet to Him;
    I will be glad in the Lord.
  • Let all sinners vanish from the face of the earth;
    let the wicked disappear forever.
    Let all that I am praise the LORD.
    Praise the LORD!
  • May sinners be consumed from the earth,
    And the wicked be no more.
    Bless the Lord, O my soul!
    [g]Praise the Lord!
