New Living Translation

New American Standard Bible

  • A psalm of David.

    The LORD said to my Lord,a
    “Sit in the place of honor at my right hand
    until I humble your enemies,
    making them a footstool under your feet.”
  • The LORD says to my Lord:
    “Sit at My right hand
    Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”
  • The LORD will extend your powerful kingdom from Jerusalemb;
    you will rule over your enemies.
  • The LORD will stretch forth Your strong scepter from Zion, saying,
    “Rule in the midst of Your enemies.”
  • When you go to war,
    your people will serve you willingly.
    You are arrayed in holy garments,
    and your strength will be renewed each day like the morning dew.
  • Your people will volunteer freely in the day of Your power;
    In holy array, from the womb of the dawn,
    Your youth are to You as the dew.
  • The LORD has taken an oath and will not break his vow:
    “You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.”
  • The LORD has sworn and will not change His mind,
    “You are a priest forever
    According to the order of Melchizedek.”
  • The Lord stands at your right hand to protect you.
    He will strike down many kings when his anger erupts.
  • The Lord is at Your right hand;
    He will shatter kings in the day of His wrath.
  • He will punish the nations
    and fill their lands with corpses;
    he will shatter heads over the whole earth.
  • He will judge among the nations,
    He will fill them with corpses,
    He will shatter the chief men over a broad country.
  • But he himself will be refreshed from brooks along the way.
    He will be victorious.
  • He will drink from the brook by the wayside;
    Therefore He will lift up His head.
