New King James Version

  • a Aleph

    Joyful are people of integrity,
    who follow the instructions of the LORD.
  • Meditations on the Excellencies of the Word of God

    ? ALEPH

    Blessed are the [a]undefiled in the way,
    Who walk in the law of the Lord!
  • Joyful are those who obey his laws
    and search for him with all their hearts.
  • Blessed are those who keep His testimonies,
    Who seek Him with the whole heart!
  • They do not compromise with evil,
    and they walk only in his paths.
  • They also do no iniquity;
    They walk in His ways.
  • You have charged us
    to keep your commandments carefully.
  • You have commanded us
    To keep Your precepts diligently.
  • Oh, that my actions would consistently
    reflect your decrees!
  • Oh, that my ways were directed
    To keep Your statutes!
  • Then I will not be ashamed
    when I compare my life with your commands.
  • Then I would not be ashamed,
    When I look into all Your commandments.
  • As I learn your righteous regulations,
    I will thank you by living as I should!
  • I will praise You with uprightness of heart,
    When I learn Your righteous judgments.
  • I will obey your decrees.
    Please don’t give up on me!
  • I will keep Your statutes;
    Oh, do not forsake me utterly!

  • Beth

    How can a young person stay pure?
    By obeying your word.
  • ? BETH

    How can a young man cleanse his way?
    By taking heed according to Your word.
  • I have tried hard to find you —
    don’t let me wander from your commands.
  • With my whole heart I have sought You;
    Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!
  • I have hidden your word in my heart,
    that I might not sin against you.
  • Your word I have hidden in my heart,
    That I might not sin against You.
  • I praise you, O LORD;
    teach me your decrees.
  • Blessed are You, O Lord!
    Teach me Your statutes.
  • I have recited aloud
    all the regulations you have given us.
  • With my lips I have declared
    All the judgments of Your mouth.
  • I have rejoiced in your laws
    as much as in riches.
  • I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies,
    As much as in all riches.
  • I will study your commandments
    and reflect on your ways.
  • I will meditate on Your precepts,
    And [b]contemplate Your ways.
  • I will delight in your decrees
    and not forget your word.
  • I will delight myself in Your statutes;
    I will not forget Your word.

  • Gimel

    Be good to your servant,
    that I may live and obey your word.

    That I may live and keep Your word.
  • Open my eyes to see
    the wonderful truths in your instructions.
  • Open my eyes, that I may see
    Wondrous things from Your law.
  • I am only a foreigner in the land.
    Don’t hide your commands from me!
  • I am a stranger in the earth;
    Do not hide Your commandments from me.
  • I am always overwhelmed
    with a desire for your regulations.
  • My soul [c]breaks with longing
    For Your judgments at all times.

    Who stray from Your commandments.
  • Don’t let them scorn and insult me,
    for I have obeyed your laws.
  • Remove from me reproach and contempt,
    For I have kept Your testimonies.
  • Even princes sit and speak against me,
    but I will meditate on your decrees.
  • Princes also sit and speak against me,
    But Your servant meditates on Your statutes.
  • Your laws please me;
    they give me wise advice.
  • Your testimonies also are my delight
    And my counselors.

  • Daleth

    I lie in the dust;
    revive me by your word.
  • ? DALETH

    My soul clings to the dust;
    Revive me according to Your word.

    And grant me Your law graciously.
  • I have chosen to be faithful;
    I have determined to live by your regulations.
  • I have chosen the way of truth;
    Your judgments I have laid before me.
  • I cling to your laws.
    LORD, don’t let me be put to shame!
  • I cling to Your testimonies;
    O Lord, do not put me to shame!
  • I will pursue your commands,
    for you expand my understanding.
  • I will run the course of Your commandments,
    For You shall enlarge my heart.

  • He

    Teach me your decrees, O LORD;
    I will keep them to the end.
  • ? HE

    for that is where my happiness is found.
  • Make me walk in the path of Your commandments,
    For I delight in it.
  • Give me an eagerness for your laws
    rather than a love for money!
  • [f]Incline my heart to Your testimonies,
    And not to covetousness.
  • Turn my eyes from worthless things,
    and give me life through your word.b
  • Turn[g] away my eyes from looking at worthless things,
    And revive me in [h]Your way.
  • Reassure me of your promise,
    made to those who fear you.

    Revive me in Your righteousness.

  • Waw

    LORD, give me your unfailing love,
    the salvation that you promised me.

    Your salvation according to Your word.

    Because of the wicked, who forsake Your law.
  • Your decrees have been the theme of my songs
    wherever I have lived.
  • Your statutes have been my songs
    In the house of my pilgrimage.

    but I am firmly anchored to your instructions.
  • The cords of the wicked have bound me,
    But I have not forgotten Your law.
  • I rise at midnight to thank you
    for your just regulations.

    Because of Your righteous judgments.

    That I may learn Your statutes.
  • Your instructions are more valuable to me
    than millions in gold and silver.

    Those who know Your testimonies.

  • Your regulations remain true to this day,
    for everything serves your plans.
  • They continue this day according to Your ordinances,
    For all are Your servants.
