New Living Translation

English Standard Version

  • For the choir director: A psalm of David.

    Only fools say in their hearts,
    “There is no God.”
    They are corrupt, and their actions are evil;
    not one of them does good!
  • The Fool Says, There Is No God

    To the choirmaster. Of David.

    The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
    They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds;
    there is none who does good.
  • The LORD looks down from heaven
    on the entire human race;
    he looks to see if anyone is truly wise,
    if anyone seeks God.
  • The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man,
    to see if there are any who understand,a
    who seek after God.
  • But no, all have turned away;
    all have become corrupt.a
    No one does good,
    not a single one!
  • They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt;
    there is none who does good,
    not even one.
  • Will those who do evil never learn?
    They eat up my people like bread
    and wouldn’t think of praying to the LORD.
  • Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers
    who eat up my people as they eat bread
    and do not call upon the Lord?
  • Terror will grip them,
    for God is with those who obey him.
  • There they are in great terror,
    for God is with the generation of the righteous.
  • The wicked frustrate the plans of the oppressed,
    but the LORD will protect his people.
  • You would shame the plans of the poor,
    butb the Lord is his refuge.
  • Who will come from Mount Zion to rescue Israel?
    When the LORD restores his people,
    Jacob will shout with joy, and Israel will rejoice.
  • Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
    When the Lord restores the fortunes of his people,
    let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.
