New Living Translation

New King James Version

  • Praise the LORD!
    Let all that I am praise the LORD.
  • The Happiness of Those Whose Help Is the Lord

    Praise[a] the Lord!
    Praise the Lord, O my soul!
  • I will praise the LORD as long as I live.
    I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath.
  • While I live I will praise the Lord;
    I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
  • Don’t put your confidence in powerful people;
    there is no help for you there.
  • Do not put your trust in princes,
    Nor in [b]a son of man, in whom there is no [c]help.
  • When they breathe their last, they return to the earth,
    and all their plans die with them.
  • His spirit departs, he returns to his earth;
    In that very day his plans perish.
  • But joyful are those who have the God of Israela as their helper,
    whose hope is in the LORD their God.
  • Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help,
    Whose hope is in the Lord his God,
  • He made heaven and earth,
    the sea, and everything in them.
    He keeps every promise forever.
  • Who made heaven and earth,
    The sea, and all that is in them;
    Who keeps truth forever,
  • He gives justice to the oppressed
    and food to the hungry.
    The LORD frees the prisoners.
  • Who executes justice for the oppressed,
    Who gives food to the hungry.
    The Lord gives freedom to the prisoners.
  • The LORD opens the eyes of the blind.
    The LORD lifts up those who are weighed down.
    The LORD loves the godly.
  • The Lord opens the eyes of the blind;
    The Lord raises those who are bowed down;
    The Lord loves the righteous.
  • The LORD protects the foreigners among us.
    He cares for the orphans and widows,
    but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.
  • The Lord watches over the strangers;
    He relieves the fatherless and widow;
    But the way of the wicked He [d]turns upside down.
  • The LORD will reign forever.
    He will be your God, O Jerusalem,b throughout the generations.
    Praise the LORD!
  • The Lord shall reign forever —
    Your God, O Zion, to all generations.
    Praise the Lord!
